[QUOTE="PSP107"]Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. They take advantage of having a great O-Line. But in all seriously, as a former high school QB myself, the QB position is sorted overrated. If you don't have a great O- Line or a running game, good luck. QBs who can throw on the run are more talented.

I have to disagree with Tom Brady because I feel that for the past 5 years, he has been the Patriots. He really is the man and I think with him gone, especially with this current team, they wouldnt even make the playoffs.

1. Say hello to the Colts without Peyton Manning.

2. Not saying it would happen this year, but the Pats have went 11-5 without Tom Brady within the last five years.

Whoever is saying T.Brady and P.Manning are clueless. As you can see with the Colts right now... they are NOTHING without P.Manning. Same thing for the Patriots if T.Brady ever went down this season. Those 2 teams are totally dependent on their QB's to be successful. \

As far as Sanchez goes ... he's 22-13 in the regular season and 4-2 in the playoffs. And quite a few of the wins were 100% Sanchez taking the team on his back and marching down the field in the hurry up offense to pull the game out. Everyone likes to use stats to base things on... but stats are deceiving for many reasons. I'll take a QB like Sanchez that has proven he can play under pressure in the playoffs... and can be cool and calm and march a team down the field for a 'W' when the game is on the line. Hello M.Ryan? In his dreams.

And this year is the first year the Jets are leaning more on Sanchez and the passing game. His first 2 years they were a running team. So far in 3 games he's thrown 2 TD's in each game and over 300 yards in 2 of them. and that is a pretty amazing feat with the state that the Jets O-line is in. To put it bluntly... it's BAD! If you give Sanchez time in the pocket... he can move the offense down the field as good as anyone.

It's funny... everyone says Sanchez is just riding on the coat tails of the Jets D... but in reality the Jets D is more of a myth and hype and the unit that cost Jets games in many losses... especially the playoff losses. If anything Sanchez has bailed out the D's awful efforts on many occasions. The bottom line is without good blocking and protection... any QB is not going to get it done. The Jets O line and D line are their real problems. Sanchez is the least of the Jets problems. All he's done in his short career to this point is win and show big times guts and heart. He's not overrated... but the Jets D totally is.

LOL funny how the colts O-Line looks pretty average now. With peyton the were the ****. Best ever!!! Sometimes its not the o-line its the quarterback. Doesn't help if he holds on to the ball for too long or isn't smart enough to make the reads or call audibles or recognize blitzes when its straight in his face, or check it down, or etc. Trust me, I know. I'm a 9ers fan.

My most overrated? Eli Manning.

The problem with Eli is that without a running game, I'd say the giants have a 70% chance of losing the game. i've never seen him carry his team. I live on the west coast so I only see the Giants play on National Televised games or when they play someone in the local area. Every time I do see him play, he looks average never being able to help his team win if bradshaw/jacobs is stuffed. Maybe he's done it, but so far it doesn't seem enough to change my views on him.

[QUOTE="SilentSoprano"]

I would say Mark Sanchez. I mean, is it just me or does it feel like he pretty much got carried his first two years in the NFL by the Jets' stellar defense and running game? Yet, he is one of the most recognizable faces of the NFL and has gotten plenty of compliments. Everytime I see him play, he plays decent at best and I think, "What the heck does Rex see in this guy?" He's not a bad QB by any means, but he sure isn't what many make him out to be.

Fuhgeddabouditt

And what exactly do people make him out to be???? :|

Hes been a QB for TWO YEARS, 2 years. Wrap that around your head for a minute. Yet you are surprised the defense had to carry him his first year (not so much last year and this year).

Tell me, how many QBs that started 16 games in college, enter the NFL as a starter on day one and are putting up Tom Brady like performances week in and week out? As of right now I cant think of any so why are so many impatient?

No one likes him outside of NY yet hes overrated? No sports journalist has labeled him elite, and I dont know if you've notice but REX HYPES ALL HIS PLAYERS. It helps installs confidence in his players and that is why he does it, period. I must be the only one that see that :|

He has however played good in high pressure playoffs games, so the pats on his back there are well deserved. One in which he out played Tom Brady in the playoff game on the road so that is yet another plus for this young developing qb.

And by "the most recognizable faces of the NFL", getting endorsements from both the Spanish and American community helps that a lot.

So to say hes overrated is ridiculous at this point in his career.

Do you work for Mark Sanchez or something? Geez, calm down. It's just my opinion.

I would say Eli is a solid NFL QB. He gets a bit lucky on some of these long passes that his tall WR's bail him out on that could be INT's... but he also gets a lot of INT's that are his WR's fault where the ball should have been caught. Plus he somehow won a SB. He's not worth the contrcat he's got... but you could do much worse than Eli as your QB.

Dan Orlovsky. :P

But I say Matt Sanchez, probably out of bias that I have due to people badgering me on how the Lions should have picked him instead. I doubt he could do what Stafford recently has done.

It also doesn't hurt to have Megatron going up over defenders and a decent O-line to play behind either. Jets O-line is a disaster. Hard to judge a QB like Sanchez that has barely 1 second in the pocket and is getting pummeled all game.

lol... the last 2 years(his first 2 years in the NFL) 2009- 9-7... 2010- 11-5.... Playoffs 4-2 ... and one game from making the SB his first 2 years. Pretty awful track record to this point. Those who go by stats alone are foolish. Sanchez has bailed the Jets out on many occassions where the D stunk and he's made last minute comebacks.

Sanchez isn't ever going to be a Tom Brady... but with some good protection he can win. Another thing holding him back besides this terrible O-line is the O- Coordinator Schottenheimer. This guy blows and is so predictable with his play calling.... ex Jets WR David Clowney was on Twitter predicting the Jets play calls before they happened! Ya think maybe other teams watch film and know what's coming too? Time for a fresh new coordinator with a little imagination to his play calling. The Jets throw more passes sideways then they do down the field.

Packers Offense = Scary good, pick your poison.

Ravens Defense = Turnovers, pure and simple.

Any D would have looked good vs the Jets O-line Sunday night. It was putrid. Laughable really how bad it was. The Ravens D is decent, but not nearly a good as the Jets made them look. Just a few short weeks ago Matt Hasselbeck torched that D ... 30 for 42... 358 yards and a TD. NO SACKS!!! Titans beat the Ravens pretty handily actually. Without good O-line protection and blocking in general... the QB and offense is screwed.

Because we know that the QB is the ONLY reason that they have won playoff games. Forget the great receiving corps, great running game, and stifling defense. No, it's the QB who is throwing UNDER 55% completion in his career, and thrown more INTs than TDs. How is it dumb to ignore those stats? For this era, those are abysmal numbers.

Those who've watched Sanchez engineer last minute comebacks in his first 2 years will take that ability over overblown, meaningless garbage time compiled stats. With that said... he looks like he's regressing right now... and I don't know if it's because the O-line is awful... or if he just isn't going to reach that next level. But 4-2 in the Playoffs and 20-12 in his first 2 years is still an amazing number of wins for a QB only in the league a short time. Killing his numbers is one thing.... but in the end he's the QB of the team and gets the credit for the "Ws" and blame when they lose. He's an average QB right now... and the O-line is hideously bad. That = bad news for NYJ.

Plus if Sanchez had a better offensive line, the losses of Faneca and Woody in the last 2 years and the drafting of Ducasse has hurt what was the strength of the Jets offense.

Overrated implies people are saying they are great/good when they are not. Given the market, I would say it was inevitable that Sanchez got to be overrated...I could only imagine if Freeman played in NYC with his stats/record/comebacks

I present: Sanchez's post season game log. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SancMa00/gamelog/post/ Only three games with 60%+ completion. No 300 yard games, only one 250 yard game. TD to INT ratio is good, but besides that, pretty lackluster. Besides, look at the points they are giving up. Barely anything. You could never convince me that Sanchez is the driving force behind those playoff wins.

Sanchez to me seems like a better version of Trent Dilfer. And the only way they are winning the title is if he doesn't make turnovers and also manages the offense well enough to score around roughly 20 points. and then leave it to the defense.
