Thought I'd make this because I felt we needed one with championship games coming up followed by the countless bowl games...

It's great to see Urban Meyer at Ohio State, although I never would have felt that way a few years ago. I'm ready for the top-line recruiting to start and actually use players to their potential. Ohio State is giving even better reasons to choose the school, more than any other school can offer.
The real contenders in the next few years, as these conferences change, is probably going to be the SEC vs. Ohio State vs. USC vs. Oregon (maybe) in the national scheme of things on a yearly basis.

Nothing. There is also this small thing called impending NCAA sanctions that will keep recruits away from OSU. It is crazy to say that OSU offers more than any other school.

I don't think anything is going to further happen to Ohio State. Meyer would not have come to OSU if his research and insiders didn't give him another conclusion. On top of that, OSU was not requested to come before the board a second time. That is always a good thing. That being said, every school is unique...OSU is up there, but a lot of big name schools can have a share of that pie too and they do.

Why waste his time on a team riddle with sanctions? Even if they get what USC got that OSU job is pretty attractive.
I really dont want to see LSU vs. Alabama for the BCS title. Because if LSU loses, they should still be the national champion. That game doesnt make sense.

Better pro potential, better athletic facilities, in most cases a better coach and an incredibly large national stage. The sanctions are something to consider, but based off what has happened so far, I'm assuming that there will be no further sanctions that would cripple the program.

[QUOTE="sonicare"]Why not? Do you people have a problem with MSU losing to Wisconsin tonight? Because Alabama had their shot at LSU and lost. LSU has won their division and the SEC. LSU played a harder schedule than Alabama. So if LSU were to split the series with Alabama, why should alabama be national champion? Makes no sense. I'd rather see LSU play a champion from another conference.I really dont want to see LSU vs. Alabama for the BCS title. Because if LSU loses, they should still be the national champion. Yup, Alabama is no doubt one of the best in the country, but lets face facts here. A team who did not win their conference should not play in the BCS championship, Alabama lost at home to them. This is the exact issues we had in 2006 after then 1-2 matchup with OSU and Michigan. The game being so close, many called for a rematch. The title game should be Ok. state vs LSU. While Okie State had a bad loss, lets face it... They beat up more quality teams then Alabama did. After the thumping they put on Oklahoma the other night, that was a clear "put us where we belong" statement.[QUOTE="Chutebox"] Why not? I didn't see any marked for the NFL season this year, but from each of these sources (using different time periods) Ohio State is 3rd, behind two teams who currently are trash, and 5th, behind two of the teams I said would be main competitors in the future. Number of starts probably matters as well, where Ohio State is ranked third since 1991.
As for facilties, Ohio State renovated it a few years ago. http://www.thedailybore.com/thedailybore/2009/12/best-college-football-facilities.html Most of those are schools I mentioned would continue to be the contenders on a yearly basis, with the others being obvious non-contenders for awhile except maybe Texas.
For academics, Ohio State is one of the top schools for athletes (assuming any that care about it). Here is one source: http://www.thedailybeast.com/galleries/2011/01/09/smartest-college-sports-teams.html#
LSU and Oregon make the list of top 25 worst, no surprise.
I'm not trying to say other schools won't compete and that Ohio State's success is a full-guarantee, but Ohio State is very well-balanced in most categories. One issue could be Ohio State's lack of previous success in bowl games, but I believe two of the losses came in the national championship game and one to Urban Meyer.
Any future sanctions that could be severe, would also negate a lot of what makes Ohio State an incredible football (and sports) program.
Apologies for the lack of hotlinking also.
My hope as well.Looking forward to the BCS game! I hope Alabama wins it just to piss everyone off more lol.
Hopefully that will cause a serious discussion about a playoff system too.

I still fail to understand why there isn't a playoff. The FCS has it, and it works very well.monkeytoes61Because the NCAA wouldn't make as much money. Money is everything in college football, even though the players don't get any of it.
Why didn't OK State get the bid? -Tish-
Bias for the SEC, aka the only conference in the NCAA that matters apparently.
Who's watching the college football championship right now? X360PS3AMD05I am. Usually pretty entertaining games. A few too many blowouts this weekend though.
All I know is that the rest of the big 10 needs to lower its academic standards soon to match OSU's or they are going to disappear for ever.DaBrainzlmao. Thanks for the good laugh. I don't know much about Big 10 schools academic standards, I just know that is very difficult to get into UofM.
This is just wonderful, not only is my favorite game (Rose Bowl) not on Jan 1st like it always was, it's on ESPN along with the other BCS games? Garbage, they want people to sign up for cable when more and more are cutting it, i'm gonna try to be one of those people. They can shooooooovvveee iittt, FCS is weak too, why is their championship game all the way until Jan. 7? X360PS3AMD05Heh, there are ways to watch the game without paying for cable. ;)
I got sick of paying 80 freaking bucks a month. I cancelled that, got a roku and an outdoor antennae.

The Rose Bowl has always been played on the 2nd when New Year's falls on a Sunday. There's no tradition being messed with here.
