[QUOTE="Spellingiscool"][QUOTE="No_Hablo_Ingles"] 1) Eagles are a SB contender without Asomugha. 2) If he goes to the Eagles, Philly will become a Dynasty* *If they can get Vick and DeSean a long term contractNo_Hablo_Ingles
A dynasty? LOL. How about they make it to the big game first. 1 out of 5 for Reid, not very good numbers.

I feel a disturbance in the force... the hate... it's powerful...

How is this hate?? It's fact.

1 out of 5 is actually pretty good numbers. A vast majority of current coaches can't even claim getting to the Playoffs basically every single year. The Eagles are one shut down corner, and one Good right tackle away from winning 2 out of 4 SBs

CSN Philadelphia reports that free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is atop the Eagles' 'offseason priority list.' Eagles fan have to like the sound of that. Asomugha will be the top defensive player on the market this offseason, and Philadelphia really needs some help in the secondary. Of course, Asomugha will likely draw interest from many teams, meaning he could escape the Eagles' price range.

Eagles need to take some serious consideration into picking him up. Aside from Asante, the corners are avearage at best. Ellis Hobbs is on the verge of retiring, Joselio Hansen plays the Nickel, right? Dimitri Patterson showed flashes of being a potential starter, but eventually he was exposed and blown up by so many teams.

If the Eagles pick him up... things would be looking VERY good indeed.

How much are the Eagles under the cap? A deal for Asomugha would be at least 100 million+, probably 140 million. But the Eagles are gonna owe Vick tons of money, Akers, and a bunch of other players. So they may not have enough for Asomugha. Plus, I doubt he wants to go to Philly.

Nnamdi will likely go to a contender if Oakland isn't in the cards. I wouldn't rule out a team like Baltimore. I doubt he'll go to a place like Houston or Jacksonville though. Also, no...I seriously doubt anyone will pay 100 million dollars for a cornerback. In fact, paying any defensive player that amount of money is absurd. Haynesworth is the exception but everyone sees how that's panning out so it's not likely someone will invest that amount in a single player that's not a quarterback. Revis got paid 46 million with 32 guaranteed. My guess is it would be somewhere in that area.

Your right, I don't know what I was thinking about when I said 100 million. But it depends on how many years Asomugha wants. If he wants a 3 yr deal he's looking at 30-40 million, if he wants 7 years possibly 80-90 million. I have no idea what I was smoking when I said 140 million lol. He's going to be pretty expensive for any team that really wants him.

Yeah, and unfortunately I don't see anyone signing him to a traditional 7 year contract. Asomugha will be 30 years old this year. In he were to sign a contract like that, it would almost assuredly be completely frontloaded. Typically with a contract you make the bulk of the money towards the end of the contract because of the large signing bonuses that are often handed out. But Asomugha isn't going to be happy with a regular contract of that length because he'll be old at the end of that contract and the team has the option to cut him before that contract expires and he get's the bulk of his money. So logically, when dealing with a player like this team's will be cautious in giving a large amount of money. The smartest thing is for a Super Bowl contender to offer him a short term deal.

That could change quickly though. If next year they don't make the playoffs or lose in the Wild Card for the third year in a row, most fans are going to want him gone.

If we don't make the playoffs... I don't expect to see him in philly. I think if the Eagles get to the Playoffs next year, they will have a first round bye (but I've been known to be bias so :P)

I know. You get to play in the motherland of the Philly Cheese Steak. It's not like that could be beaten. Sure going to New York to eat God's pizza would be one thing, but all the New York teams either play in Jersey(ewww) or Buffalo(lol Buffalo). The Philly Cheese Steak is the only option.

meh Everyone always assumed Dungy/Cowher were a slight problem for their teams getting over the hump and they did fine. Personally I don't think you can just replace an Andy Reid give how good his track record is.

Nnamdi doesn't want to play in cold weather. He probably doesn't want to play on a team that probably won't make the playoffs. therefore he probably won't join the Bills up in Buffalo. But there's always a chance...:P i think he will join a team like the giants, ravens, etc..

Since you want to be like that, my bad, I forgot that New Meadowland stadium is in the garbage dump that is New Jersey, but how about you state something that is accurate before you post at all. New Jersey is a COLD state, yet in a prior sentence you say "Nnamdi doesn't want to play in cold weather."

I think it's slightly idiotic to say he doesn't want to play in cold weather, then (not more then 4 sentences later) say he would go to a team that plays in New Jersey, don't you think?

1. Dallas Cowboys- Jerry Jones wants big names, and will pay for them. He would be the teams new # 1 corner, and he'll play for a big market team in a dome.

2. Washington Redskins- Dan Snyder will shell out the cash if he decides he wants him.

3. Philadelphia Eagles- Eagles will be desperate after the way the season ended, and they need another corner. A darkhorse canidate, to be sure.

4. Oakland Raiders- I've heard Al Davis has already started working on an offer for him... if the money's good, he might stay.

5. New England Patriots- Not that far fetched. If Nnamdi wants to win, why not go there? Bill Belicheck likes veteran players, and for the right price, Nnamdi could get a ring...

Dear Polian Tell Peyton to take a pay cut for the team, and spend cash on Nnamdi. It's the right choice.

I can see that happening, I don't expect the skins to resign Carlos Rogers.

After what happened this season the Redskins could really use him.

I've been reading a lot of Eagles fan comments on other forums... oddly enough there is a rather large group that wants to keep Kolb, sign and trade Vick (I'm not sure if that's ever happened in the NFL) for a first round pick, which will free up more money to go after Nnamdi. Any thoughts?

Everyone is saying that the Texans need him badly. I disagree and I'm pretty sure the Texans won't be going after him because nobody knows their personnel better than the Texans. Is the Texans secondary good? No. Their whole defense is terrible. But they also have one of the youngest if not THE youngest secondary in the NFL. They have very high potential guys playing in that secondary. They need time to grow. Corners don't typically come in and play well immediately. With Wade Phillips grooming that young talent, I expect them to bounce back. Let's look at what they've got: Glover Quin - This guy has IMMENSE talent. He's a bit of a gambler but he's made some plays. He's gotten beaten a lot this season, but again, he's very young and needs time to grow. This guy has the potential to become a real ballhawking defensive back and they're comfortable with him. Kareem Jackson - Jackson is the best man-on-man cover corner to come out of college in a long time. The Ravens actually wanted to draft this guy and some of their personnel guys compared him to Chris McAlister. He can be a shutdown corner in this league and he'll most likely take Glover Quin's spot as the number 1 corner soon. And they guy nobody will see coming - Antwaun Molden. This guy has been injury plagued his first few years. But he was a guy that came out of college and had a good amount of potential. If he gets healthy and plays a full season, you'll see this guy out on the nickel. He'll be a solid number 3. It's easy to freak out and say we need to go get some guys for the secondary immediately. But the Texans brought it a young secondary so they could grow and have chemistry with each other. You think Leon Hall and Johnathan Joseph were good immediately? No, it took a couple of years and they both ended up blossoming. They don't need Nnamdi, they have enough young depth. What they need is a legitimate free safety and a better defensive line. They don't get enough pressure and their secondary suffers. The whole defense underperformed. Phillips will help they gain some form and some discipline.

I've been reading a lot of Eagles fan comments on other forums... oddly enough there is a rather large group that wants to keep Kolb, sign and trade Vick (I'm not sure if that's ever happened in the NFL) for a first round pick, which will free up more money to go after Nnamdi. Any thoughts?No_Hablo_Ingles

I like that idea, but hear me out. If the Eagles stick with Kolb, it will be shaky at first. Therefore, tt will force Andy Reid (hopefully :D) to lean on the running game a little bit more and create a more balanced offense and ease the pressure off Kolb.

Trade Vick to a team thats willing to give up a couple of draft picks (2nd and 3rd? Maybe a 1st...but that's a longshot). Then if the cap permits for the Eagles, try and land Nnamdi. If they land Nnamdi, that would be freaking sweet. That would help secondary out a sheep load! Plus it might mean more INT's for Asante...

Go Eagles!

Why is that a good thing? The Eagles offense is arguably the most dangerous offense in the NFL as it is. Leaning on the running game more means fewer explosive plays. The Eagles will always be a pass first offense. And that's not a bad thing. Vick perfectly compliments what that offense is trying to do and it's only going to get better because the Eagles will have an entire offseason to counter the deficiencies and the containment strategies that teams are trying to form to stop them. They're a very scary team with Vick. Without Vick, they're just not as dangerous.

Yes, GO EAGLES!

The only problem I had with your comment was saying Vick is a longshot for a 1st round pick. I think after the season Vick just had the Minimum is a 1st and a 3rd round pick. If a team does it, it would be a team that is only QB away from being a real contender and has a decent draft pick *top 15* (I.E Titans, 49ers, etc). By far the most dangerous team that fits this is the Vikings.

However, if they trade Vick AND don't get Nnamdi... the Eagles will be in for a long season with Kolb under Center....

Like most things that delusional Philly fans post, that is a terrible idea. Vick was the MVP this year if not for a super season from Tom Brady, and all of a sudden they want to go to Kolb, who we know is solid but not good and at times is flat out terrible?

I personally don't like the idea... I mean, I would love Nnamdi on the Eagles... but at the cost of our dynamic offense, I don't see how it would be worth it.

Who cares if we shut down one side of the field on Defense, if we have a QB that is seemingly incapable of taking advantage of it.

Exactly, that pass defense isn't gonna be worth a damn thing when we're only averaging 20 points a game.
