NFL: Peyton Manning seriously considering retirement

I'm a Patriots fan but I would hate to see this, I looked forward to playing him every year, and I was looking forward to at least one more game against him. I don't think he retires, but the farther we get into this the more I think he won't be playing in Indy next year.

It makes sense. Why risk coming back for another 1-2 years and ruining his legacy by not playing how he used to? Plus, everyone has seen just how bad the team is without him now. That's probably discouraged him somewhat from coming back.

One of the worst stories I've seen in a long time

Manning did not say anything about retirement, it was the person who interviewed him. All in all this is one of the most unprofessional stories I've seen done in a long time, news should never be what someone guesses could happen.

I do see Luck being taken in the draft and Manning playing somewhere else though

I was gonna say... news like that would usually end up on ESPN, which it did not.

Manning LOVES football. He lives and breathes it. I think he will come back. The only way he won't is if the doctors/coaches say he can't.

Wasn't he supposed to be back near the end of this season? I haven't heard what progress his neck recovery has made, but could that signify more bad news? With the way they're playing now, and drafting Andrew Luck and possibly getting rid of Caldwell...it could be a good time to retire and let the Colts begin rebuilding.

It would be shocking news if Peyton retired. If he can physically play I don't see him retiring.

Although, if he retired today he would certainly leave the game as one of the dominant quarterbacks of this generation.

I hope that Peyton can come back and continue his dominance, but I just can't see it happening. I grew up in the golden age of Tennessee football going to UT games on saturdays wearing a replica manning jersey so it goes without saying that I am a huge fan, but if he is unable to perform like the Peyton we all know and love, then I hope he retires... to work on UT's staff. I'm pretty sure our quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator slots will be opening after a dismal 7 points on a terrible Kentucky team to finish off our season. And anyway he is worshipped like a god on campus and would greatly help with recruiting I would think. Who wouldn't want to have the greatest pro-style quarterback of all time coach them in college?

If he's 100% healthy I think the colts play him and let Luck learn under him. If not, yeah they should get what they can for him.
