@jg4xchamp: Hence the "almost." Offensive line had its struggles, but I consider it less of a hole considering the quarterback. Had a true pocket passer been back there last season, we would have won ten games at the most. I think Zach Miller could be that guy at TE, but he's stuck being a glorified RT in our offense, and will likely be a cap casualty as well.

To be quite honest he's had more than enough time to flash some kind of ability, and he usually doesn't. Even when San Fran is ground n pound on teams, Vernon Davis still shows up. Miller isn't the guy. I personally like Seattle's receiving corp as far as complimentary guys are concerned. Baldwin and Kearse are speedy dudes. But they could use a straight up number 1.

I would still look at the line. That line got exposed(regardless of how good the quality of pass rushers are) in games against Carolina, Indy, San Fran, Arizona, St, Louis, etc. I get that Russel makes them a non issue, but it would certainly be a better offense if he had even more time in the pocket. And in that division quality blocking is going to become a premium.

Edit: **** right they have Percy. Almost forgot they even had him. Eh I'd still want an honest number 1. If only because you know Percy is never giving you a full 16.

I don't know, it's so hard to judge receivers and tight ends in our system. We barely throw the ball. I have no doubt that Miller is a legit receiving threat, but we don't throw enough for it to be worth the cap hit.

But I agree, I'd like a true number one. Big guy, strong hands, red zone target. Then let Percy and Doug work wonders from the slot.

For Richie Incognito:

Seriously, you're only hurting your cause. If you are really innocent, get off Twitter and let the facts speak for themselves.

^Agreed. Honestly though the Incognito/Martin situation has to be seen as embarrassing for everyone involved and don't think anyone in that locker room comes off for the better in this situation.

As for the other recent story the past few days I honestly have no clue what to make of the Ray Rice situation. None of it sounds good from a distance, but the fact that both he and his fiancee are both still being charged has led to to reserve judgement.

The increased salary cap could also be another under the radar factor this off season as it appears to be headed for a full $132M, a good $6M more than the original projection. Hopefully the Pats can use that extra space to fit Blount, Edelman and Talib in under the cap.

Also because it's combine time I figured this (apparently) real wonderlic test could be a fun competition: I scored a 36 on the full test without pen or paper.

Isn't that the point? The report is damaging to him and Incognito knows he is toast. All he has left is talk. It is a matter of how much games is he going to miss. And yes, the Michael Sam situation comes into play because Goodell will send an direct and indirect message to all players: harass a guy like Martin again (direct), dare to do that to Michael Sam (indirect) AND YOU ARE GONNA REGRET IT.

Niners are really, REALLY stupid. I could see Harbough leaving soon. The guy lead your team to three straight NFC championships and you try and trade him????

In case anyone is interested, here is an article from SI about the rift between Harbaugh and Baakle.

If the reports are true and Baakle/Harbaugh are truly incapable of working with one another I'll be interested in seeing what York and the 49ers decide to FO do. The first instinct would obviously be to choose Harbaugh, but if another team offered a compensation package in the range of what Jon Gruden got from the Bucs (2 firsts, 2 seconds, years salary) I think that option would at least have to be considered.

Does anyone want this Jimmy Graham guy?

Just send over a couple of 1st rounders and we'll call it even.

@Chutebox: He is but he's going to either sign a long-term deal or be franchised since there's no way he's going to be allowed to walk. If he is franchised Graham wants to be paid as a WR since he plays a majority of his snaps from either the slot or the outside, though that seems to be creating friction with the Saints.

Also lol at Ron Jaworski manufacturing a story for ESPN today with his comments on Manziel. This is almost as bad as his "Kaepernick could be one of the greatest of all-time" comments last summer.

@Chutebox: Yeah he is, but if he gets the non exclusive tag we get 2 first rounders as compensation if he leaves.

Where in the world did you hear that? That doesn't sound right. Usually compensatory picks are in the late rounds. Forget 2 of them. You're looking at 1 pick 4th round, 3rd round max.

Silverbond is right. I don't see anybody giving up those along with the contract he's going to demand that will inevitably be in that $12M annually over 6 year range. Can't lie and say it wouldn't be tempting for the Pats if their cap situation was better though.

Was about to post this. A team with a high first rounder I can see doing this if they have the cap space. Hawks maybe? They just dumped two players which cleared some space, like 12m I think. And they have the last first rounder this year and will have another late first rounder next year.

@Chutebox: It could happen but I see the Seahawks as being more likely to try and give out extensions to Wilson, Sherman and Thomas within the next few years rather than Graham and the 2 picks. Besides I think it'd make more sense to see how things end up playing out with Harvin before they commit huge dollars to another weapon for Wilson.

Honestly just looking at salary cap, draft position, positional needs and outlook the Packers are the one team that jumped out to me, seeing as they have a ton of cap space and the majority of critical players under contract for the next couple years. That being said Ted Thompson has always been big on building through the draft and has rarely reached into trading or free agency, so that's pretty doubtful as well.

Oh my, a non-exclusive franchise tag. I didn't realize there was such a thing. Has anybody ever actually paid 2 1st rounders for it? I was thinking compensatory picks for losing graham to free agency, which is something completely different and happens often.

Besides the shitty numbers, I like the new uniforms. I'm a fan of classic football number text (Browns, Cowboys, Raiders, Chiefs, old Bucs).

@The-Apostle: I'd kinda hate that. I want a young guy who can potentially develop into a legit starter. Not an aging QB who's never won anything... albeit an athletic and fast QB. I don't mind if they take a defensive guy with the first pick, but they better take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round.

The ultimate irony. Graham is crying because the Saints released Sproles. Maybe if you weren't demanding the contract of a top tier WR, that wouldn't have happened.

Guys were living off things they did years ago and getting paid like they were getting it done this year. We needed a youth movement.

Hell, this is at least B+ offseason right now.

Nah. He took that word you call him to another level and he's mad what they did. Come on man. This is business. You ask for it and some are getting cut because your dumb tail. (trying not to cuss) I heard that Brady took a pay cut around in 2012. Well, few players need to do the same. *cough* Brees *cough*

@yokofox33: He fits well with what Gus does on defense. He plays DE on run plays. Not much of a pass rusher, but stuffs the run like it's going out of style. Great leader too, he was the captain of our defense last year.

@DaBrainz: Almost definitely not going to happen seeing as they have good fan support, a new stadium, and the team likely staying in the family, seeing as owner's son was already VP.

Are you sure about that? To emerge from bankruptcy, the city could go through layoffs, pay cuts and increase taxes.
