I couldn't believe it when i heard it. Especially that Lee was going to Seattle. Hernandez and him in the same rotation? Plus Chone Figgins, and maybe Bay or Holliday? Man that could be one good team.
I wish all the luck to Roy in Philly, hope you win a WS there. Wish they could of kept Lee, and it looks like Blanton or Happ or Hamels will be on the way out to Toronto. If they could of kept him, they'd have probably the best rotation in the NL, if not the league. I just wish they knew who Toronto was getting, I'm anxious to find out.
I don't know if it's a good trade for Philly, but a good one for Toronto (hopefully) and Seattle.
EDIT: Can't wait to see him in Toronto June 25-27, hopefully he plays. I know I'll be there.
After years of suffering, it may finally be the time Mariner fans like us have been waiting for.Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee in the same rotation? I think I need to change my pants.

Don't forget about the Lackey new either.rockguy92yah, im shocked that there wasnt a single word/rumor or anything about these two deals, i came home, went online and was like ?!?!?!!!?. I love the Lackey signing now, not because the sox get Lackey, but because the sox actually did something worth talking about, i was getting a little worried
Cliff Lee was raping the NL so why trade Lee away to get Halladay instead of keeping both. Idk it doesnt make much sense to me. Imagine if those 2 were in the world series together yankees would have deff lost. With just 1 you dont gain anythingNetYankEagleWord is that Clff wanted a 6 year extension and the Phillies weren't willing to give him that so they decided to go after Halladay... The reason they didn't want both is because they didn't want the payroll to be that high... I'd have LOVED to see them both pitch on the Phillies. But it just wasn't gonna happen.
With Lee and Halladay on the rotation---why would you care if your payroll was a few million dollars more? Imagine the possibilities of going to the playoffs each year and ticket/merchandise sales and having a good chance to win it all, again. Not like they were going to go bankrupt.
I've been reading more about the details of the trade, and it's increasingly sounding like the Mariners pulled a fast one. They get Lee next year for only $9 million. They lost a couple of prospects, but from what I understand, none are close to being ready for the Majors. On top of that, when Lee leaves for free agency after next season, the M's will receive a haul of draft picks. I assume Lee is a Class A pick, yes? If so, the M's will get an extra first round pick and a sandwich pick prior to the second round.
I think I'll name my first born kid Jackie Z.
Dodgers. Why aren't you getting a Bigtime Pitcher?waynehead895Owner is going through an expensive divorce
Mariners are going to still miss the playoffs next year hahaCleanPlayerCan I borrow your crystal ball?

I will say they have the best 1/2 punch in baseball pitching wise...as a Sox fan I'm shocked Aardsma got as many saves as he did. Angels and Rangers are still pretty good, too.

If only their line-up could hit for averageWhat's with all the Blue Jays fans being cool? I'd be pssst, he could probably win one with your team if there were a cap. You guys are so used to losing or what?X360PS3AMD05
I think a lot of fans (like me) are cool about it because we were expecting him to be traded since the summer. Were happy that he gets a great chance to win in Philly and also that he was traded there instead of New York or Boston.
Me personally, wanted to see it happen because 1) I want to see him win a WS and 2) I didn't want to lose him to FA and get nothing for him but draft picks. If he made it to Spring Training as a Jay, he would be a Jay all year.
And yes, were use to losing games, but not use to losing such a amazing player. This has got to be one of the toughest things for Jays fans to swallow in a long time.
