They're stacked but I feel Nashville and Buffalo play with better team chemistry. San Jose is one of my favourite teams, and Thornton my favourite player, but I still think it's unlikely they'll win the cup this year. The current series will probably go to 7 games.
yes they get regular production from their 4th line. in fact thats the line they start the game with, then go for the 1st. they cant even play some of their key players because there is no room for them in the lineup. ... and then when the first line gets going and thornton has like 4 points in a game (which happened 7+ times in the last month) we are unstopable. And then there is the second line with the Captian, and Guerrin... in fact last year sharks left the playoffs in the 2nd round, and Marleau was still leading in goals until the second to last round... they have all the pieces !!!!!forum559
Okay, I understand they do have depth, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that San Jose has more depth than any other team in the NHL. Especially the Wings and the Sabres, both those teams can roll 4 strong lines at you at any time.Â
well i sure hope they make it all the way... i love watching them... i have not missed a game all year... and i think that we have the stuff to go all the way... Once we click... which i have a good feeling saying we are going back to the tank monday!!!forum559
What the heck was Boston thinking when they traded Joe Thornton? As long as San Jose doesn't make the mistake of relying on his line like last year the Sharks should do fine.Â
yeah... y would you just give up Joe Thornton.... and its not like the sharks gave up any all stars.... if you watch the sharks local channel there is this commercial that is like this is roy he is a boston bruins fan and cant seem to get the Joe thornton screen saver off his compurter..... then it is like this is Dan he is a computer technician and a sharks fan.... coincidence???
and i think that is the best comercial ever... it really captures the whole trade
yes i have seen other hockey games... but it just hit me how stacked they are when i was comparing rosters with nashville.... then i started doing that with other teams in the playoffs. i have to say buffalo and detroit are the closest.... but detroit is all vets.. and the sharks have young guys that can keep their energy through all the playoffs
... yeah sergi got screwed.... the whole bruins team did... and now they lost stuart and bergeron... i think they need new people in the from office
sharks have beat all those teams already... and none of them have the depth...especially nashville with the two suspensionsforum559Alright, lets check it out...The season series vs Anaheim is 3-5-0, Advantage Anaheim. There season series with Detriot is 3-1-0, Advantage SJ, They havent even played buffalo yet...and there seaspn series with Nashville is 1-2-1, advantage Nashville, so you are obviously being just a plain old "fan" who doesnt know what his team has done and what not, the only advantage they have is over detriot.
yeah well ducks games where close and they dont have the momentum they had before..plus we have two new guys... and i didn't want to make it sound like the buffs where included in that... but .. we do have grier... that gives us a one up on them!!
so your a duck fan... i sure hope we see you in the playoffs... that would be the best series ever!!!
oh i forgot to mention we have to excellent goaltenders... who else has that
Cant you say anything else? No **** you cant play more than 1 goalie, but cant we talk about whats a better goalie combo? It helps if you can have a really good backup incase the starter goes down, who does NJ have? and to the sharks fan, I would defintley(sp?) take Giguere/Bryzgalov over Nabokov/Toskala. Easy.JRoss17
I'd take the Brodeur/Luongo combo. :P
LMAO at this thread, the sharks are good, but you acting like their unstopable. fws831
I agree wholeheartedly, the West is completely stacked with close competition (excluding Calgary, unless they show me something when they return home) that pretty much anyone can win the West. It's insane that 7 out of 8 seeds finished with 100+ points. The Sharks are very good on paper, but not invincible as you said. It's going to be really difficult to win the Cup, especially for the Western teams due to all the competition, but that's what makes the Stanley Cup Playoffs so special and unique. There's nothing better than the Stanley Cup.

Just look at the first round losses by Detroit in the last decade. Especially last year vs. the Oilers, I remember watching that Game 6 unfold and saying to myself "Edmonton is winning this..." and I then I was cheering for Edmonton. It was like out of a Rocky movie.Â

I still consider Calgary as one of the "Elite" teams, they're just having a bad season.
