After watching him in camp and now in his first preseason game it's painfully obvious that he's going to be the starter and the face of the franchise for the next decade plus.

It's not just the fact that he shows no fear whatsoever out there it's the fact that he brings an extra player to the field.

The Jets do not have anyone else who brings the 12th man onto the field. You hear the crowds at camp start buzzing when he touches the ball and in the stadium erupts when he's in the game.

He's also from the most NFL'y school in college football history, if there's ever been a draft pick who can start from day one it's him

"IT" Sanchez HAZ "IT"

I'd wait to make judgement call until he's done a lot more than just a couple of a series from a preseason game. I'm not saying he won't be good, but it's too early to be saying those kind of things.

He probably will be a good QB, but I doubt he can make an impact like Matt Ryan in his first season.

I've been telling all the doubters and jets fans this kids going to be good. There's no doubt in my mind he's going to make an impact in the NFL. He has all the tools necessary to do so

No matter how good they are they always run into some growing pains their rookie season. Even Flacco had some ups and downs and Ryan had a good team around him to pull him through at times. I think Sanchez will have a decent season if he starts. He's got some weapons, mostly in the running game, and that was key for Ryan and Flacco. Jones and Washington are going to make Sanchez' life easier, if nothing else. I still think he'd have an easier time if they signed a veteran receiver and I don't think Sanchez will make enough of a difference to turn them into a playoff team this season, but he's definitely setting a good foundation for the future.

Forget about Sanchez, look at Greene! That guy looked good whenever he touched the ball.

I don't think there's much more to wait to see

Right now he's neck and neck with Clemens on the field and he's only been is the system a few months

He's ahead of Clemens when it comes to the ability to rally his teammates and get the fans behind the team

Add in the fact that he's fantastic with the media and there's no reason to keep this "competition" going any longer

I'd hold off calling Sanchez as face of a franchise for the next decade. Remember, Leinart was considered a no-brainer when drafted by a receiver-rich Arizona Cardinals team.

He certainly had a good season and a hell of a Rose Bowl last year. I lean in favor of him becoming a good NFL QB. I think that Stafford is the better of the 2 however.

Why do you think this is his first action?

He's already caught up to Clemens at camp

You make it sound like this is the first time he's been behind center for the Jets

no, really?! I mean, everyone knows this, just that people have learned to wait a little, not to fall for the hype. He did good in college and in his first preseason game, did ok. He did good against the RAMS in a preseaon game, only was on the field once, and didnt look WOW as many make it to be.

Of course for his job it means something, but in terms of being "The Real Deal" as of now, beating Clemens doesn't prove that.

limpbizkit818

Exactly, they're like the Bears earlier this decade. They have some nice looking pieces and might put together a playoff run or two, although the Pats, Bills, and Phins are tougher than the Lions, Vikes, and Pack were, but they won't be there for at least a year or two. I think they have a good core set, though, and if they make the right draft moves and fill some key positions they could look in a couple of years like the Texans look now, lotta young players, lotta potential, a tough division, but some good stars and a good chance to at least make a wild card.

Its preseason, everyone in Washington was ready to call Brennan the second coming based off of one preseason performance and he didnt take one snap last season, wait till Sanchez starts a game that actually matters before you call him the real deal.

He does?

He faces a Rex Ryan defense every single day in camp and handles it better then Clemens

People are making it out like he's had one good showing. He's been playing well since he got there

He has the tools to be a great QB. Hope for the best for him since he is a Trojan... but I think this first season will be a disaster. Which is usually expected when a rookie QB comes in.

He threw three passes in a preseason game against the RAMS!

Is there reason to be excited, hell ya. I wouldn't go too far though. I think he's facing the Ravens this weekend, so we'll see how he does.

He had 4 passes. Either way tho I agree. I had Sanchez as the best QB this year in the draft. I wouldn't start him right away but by week 4 if I am 1-3 I would put him in right away.

Anybody used him or played against him on Madden yet? How is he? The only rookie I have played thus far is Michael Crabtree and he burned me for 6 catches, 125 yards, 2 scores.

I am a huge Jets fan and I think he will do big things with the team. He should be the starter. He is just as good as Clemens if not better and his presense brings the team together. They got a possible franchise QB, lets give him the ball and let him take it. He is better than Stafford, and I hope he gets to prove it. But as we know, thats my opinion and i know others wont agree.

Until he proves himself in a real game, I can't call him the "real deal." There was a ton of things I didn't like about him when he was at USC. His lack of experience will hold him back from starting right away

Even more indication that Sanchez is the real deal

He starts out and falls on his face but he's able to keep his composure and take the Jets on a scoring drive.

Now the Ravens were missing Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on that drive but the rest of the starters for the Ravens D were still in

The other big thing was the body language when Sanchez and Clemens were in. With Sanchez there was a sense of urgency then when Clemens came in at the end of the half they were down.

Yes, no one knows how the season will turn out because their QB spot isn't the strong point on the team

Sanchez has the most to build with out of the three. Clemens is only a 4 year player but the team went out and got Sanchez to be the franchise. Right now Sanchez is able to go toe to toe with Clemens in camp and when it comes to games Sanchez once again shows that he's cut from the right cloth

He could have easily folded last night but he stayed calm and guided the Jets on a scoring drive

clemens will always be a good backup qb. ainge isnt worth anything. sanchez probably has the best chance to do anything but i see him puttting up farve like numbers this year. 18 tds, 19 picks.

You are basing all of this off of some camps and one pre season game? Sanchez is nothing until he proves he is something in the REGULAR SEASON. Saying anything less is just rushing on this guy. Seriously, Ryan Leaf looked great in the Pre-Season.

I have to agree completly. As a Jets fan, i would LOVE to see Sanchez blow up, become the next big thing, but for now, he is doing "ok" in preseason giving his experience. I think the season will show what will happen but I do believe he should start.

So you think that Clemens and Sanchez should rotate in the regular season until one shows that he should be the starter?

That's a very bad idea

it worked for payton, maybe it will work for sanchez. having 1 bad year doesn't mean anything however he needs to play good.
