Anybody who thinks 2K's running was awful never played Madden 10....WORST RUNNING GAME EVER! Even on the easiest level the cpu is psychic, they know what you do before you do it and stuff you almost every play. I could pass 20 times in a row and then run..BAM 5 yard loss. And when you get hit its almost over, nobody blocks and you get swarmed by bubblebutts 10 yards away from you. 2K5 > Madden 10 on running....Passing 2K5 was average and so is Madden. 2K5 had the best graphics, running game and commentary and the post and half time shows were the best and made 2K5 a better rep of the NFL than Madden has ever or will ever be. I wasted 60 bucks on Madden 10.....Makes me sick and I will NEVER buy another football game until 2K makes another real one. The NFL died a bit the day they sold out to EA, which is why they went there..MONEY not quality because if that was it EA would be crying right now and I'd have a GOOD football game. And All Pro shouldn't and isn't in this argument, its a straw man. NFL you sold out.MoonMarvel
OK, I do agree with how the running game is slow as hell(I don't care if the game's speed was reduced by 5%, this is ridiculous) but I have noticed it does require looking at blocking to know if you should even run the ball at all. Seriously, I watched the Half Time Show for Madden 10--how is Tiburon still missing here? Presentation--wow. Improved big time. They really worked hard to make sure it was good, but then again, the commentary and half time shows still suck. It really does feel like it's being modeled after NFL 2K now, which I'm still waiting on if I think that's a good idea. But I will still get it, because I know I will like it, and don't worry about how high or low my standards are--I'll still pop in ESPN NFL 2K5 when I feel like it.

EA's rendition of football is better than 2K's rendition of baseball. Their baseball games are so horrible.

This is most of the time, even when watching blocking you get stuffed as the CPU doesn't block for you.

Too basic and not professionally done. No real information or talk, just heres yo scores and thats it. Needs more content and for the hosts to NOT look like he is standing infront of a green screen...a CHEAP one at that. The weekly is the same, too basic and a lack of content. GS's review pointed that out.

I think that pretty much explains that when the NFL had to choose between EA and 2K when it came to the NFL they could either pick the game for sports fans or the game for people who don't like sports.

It was more important for the NFL to pick the game that was trying to reproduce what was happening on Sunday.

Jaysonguy

no, EA chose the game that was more marketable. If it was based on gameplay then 2k would have won hands down

Madden vs NFL 2k5 in Trucking: 2k wins

Madden vs NFL 2k5 in Pass Defense: 2k wins

Madden vs NFL 2k5 Line of Scrimmage: 2k wins

Madden vs NFL 2k5 Gang Tackling: 2k wins

shall I get to the reviews for the NFL 2k games or should I release more videos of the problems that have plagued madden after 2005? pick your poison ;)

The NFL chose correctly that day. If 2K put out a better product they would have picked them but the NFL saw that 2K's game wasn't even close to showcasing what the NFL was all about.

Lol, that's halarious. You actually think the NFL cared about the quality of the game when they signed with EA?

Those chose the better game, don't even try that "oh they only care about the name" argument. The NFL chose the best game because they knew it would have to hold up over time. These games would be happening each and every year and 2K just couldn't cut it.

As for the vids yes, the trucking where there's two different examples? Sure thing

Madden wins in the running game

Madden wins in the passing game

Madden wins for blocking

Both games suffered from the defensive backs having much too much vision out on the field

It's not even close and the best you can do is say you'll get the reviews? So you want to prove my point? The series is meant for gamers who don't like sports. The people who made the game don't know about football, they geared a game for people like them. That's great in the days of Tecmo Bowl and all that but when you're trying for the NFL license you need to make a game for the football fan first.

Also if you'd like to bring up scores why don't you show me what All Pro Football got after 2K had years to work on it. I don't see you talking about that much in here. The company had years to work on their perfect game and the best they could come up with is All Pro Football.

Madden's new tackling system makes the best rushing in a game ever. It's better then the old Madden version and much better then 2K's system where if you had a big guy running the ball he'd always bowl over the first guy and the fall on the second.

Madden's running game still is bad, but is slightly improved. The passing game has been the same all these years and still is unrealistic and incredibly easy. It doesn't even matter if you adjust the sliders, you'll still pass accurately most of the time.

This game and NCAA still have awful animations. Why can I throw off my back foot for a perfect pass every time? Why can you change directions usually without ANY type of slowdown. This is the biggest fault. The game isn't realistic. There is not a system in the game that actually accounts for a player's WEIGHT. You can be getting tackled backwards yet still pick-up up yards somehow as your player glides forward.

The blocking is atrocious and is extremely hard to get consistent pressure unless you blitz the house. Linemen don't know their own blocking assignments and when they miss a block, they either sit there or run 20 yards up field past everyone.

Again, the better game wasn't chosen, it was the game that was more marketable and which was selling more. That was the Madden series.

I lean towards EA but I think it is crap that 2k can't release NFL football games anymore, thats just not cool. That would be like Race Trac being the only gas station allowed to have Unleaded fuel.

I felt this way until I kept playing and I have broke off some big runs with Michael Turner. One run I was stopped by three guys and kept my feet moving and ran it for 60 yards to pay dirt.

That's like the fourth time you've said that and I still can't figure out what it means. That's like making Halo 4 and then marketing it to people that hate shooters, it wouldn't happen. There isn't one person out there that said, "I hate football, but I'm gonna buy this because it doesn't seem like football." It's got ESPN on the cover for goodness sake! ESPN doesn't know football? And you're supporting the company that came up with fabulous ideas completely geared toward concentrating on the sport like "Create-a-sign". Over and over you say that EA has better features than 2K, but not once have you provided a video or tried to explain why they are better. Why does Madden have the superior passing game? You're QB gets 7 seconds in the pocket? The QB can throw 50 yards right on the money? Why?
