I was having this conversation in another topic and I wanted to see what everybody thinks who is the MVP so far. All stats aside because the greatest stats doesnt mean you win and I believe the MVP is a player that makes his team win and the challenge he has to make his team win. Also how he has changed his team from last year to this year is also a factor in my opinion.

My pick so far is Chris Paul. Why? Well believe it or not the Hornets are at the top of the west after not making the playoffs last year. Also Paul doesnt have any other stars on his team or real proven vets. Its his show and he makes everybody on his team look good. Number 2 is Kobe but I think it will come down to which team will have the better record at the end of the season will crown the MVP. Lebron is number 3 mostly because he is in the east but he has good chance also because his team needs him alot.

it's amazing how paul has led this hornets team to first in the west without a superstar by his side, however I would love to see kobe finally get MVP, paul and kobe definitely deserve it so it's gonna come down to which team is hotter at the end of the season IMO

Because KG is in the East and he has Allen and Pierce on his side. Also Boston has shown they can win without him. He in my opinion hasnt really done nothing but be a really good role player as usual. If anybody on Boston deserves a MVP it should be Pierce but thats my opinion.

Paul or Lebron. The Cavs are one of the worst teams in the league without Lebron and with him they're the 5th seed. Paul has a better team, but he's led the Hornets to the best record in the west. That's big.

Kobe. The true successor to MJ. Gonna take his team all the way to the finals this year, and lose to the Celtics.

Lebron is also in the weak east, where the team below the cavs have losing records.

Right now KG is the front runner according to many analysts, but Chris Paul has worked his way into the running.

1. Chris Paul - His teams record speaks for itself.

2. Lebron James - He's leading a team of nobodys to another impressive season.

3. Kobe Bryant - Bynum and Gasol haven't been around all season but Kobe has still managed to carry the team in a very tough western conference.

KG missed some games and his team held up without him. I think that'll hurt him in the voting.

And without Lebron, his team would be worse than those losing records teams, much worse.

That's funny, b/c that's the same argument us Lakers' fans have been making for Kobe the last few years. Let me tell you, it doesn't work. If your team isn't a top 5 team in the NBA, it's very hard to win the MVP.

Didn't Kobe come in second or 3rd in his 35 ppg season? It's hard, but it's not impossible. I don't think it'll be easy. I think b/c of Paul's team compared to Kobe's team and then if the Hornets end up with a better record, Paul will be the frontrunner, but if the Cavs can close out that 3rd seed in the East and be dominant with their new team, Lebron can take it if the Hornets falter.

I think Kobe will have a shot if the Lakers end up with the best record in the west, nothing less. If they finish 2nd or 3rd and the Hornets have a better record, Paul will win.

Without a question Kobe. Paul a close second. Lebron is playing in the horribly weak eastern conference were there are what 4 good teams there. It's sad you can be in the 6th spot in the east which is currently the Wizards and be four games under .500. While in the west your 12 games over .500 and not even be the 8th seed. Kobe deserves it and if he doesn't get it it's because he isn't liked by many people but when it comes down to it he is the best player in the league right now. Lakers and Pistons in the finals.

Big 4 this season are definitely.. (in no order) Kobe, Lebron, Paul and Howard

I'll be happy who ever gets it, they're all amazing players. But i would like to see kobe get it for standing up when it counts and really showing what he's made of.

If Steve Nash can win the award twice, then I see no reason why Chris Paul can't. Nash doesn't even play defense while Paul has gotten atleast one steal every game this season.

1) Chris Paul

2) Kobe Bryant

3) Chris Bosh

Barring a massive collapse I think Paul already has it locked up, not just because of how well his team is playing, but because of the feel-good story nature of giving a player in New Orleans the MVP. You always have to consider Kobe because how much he means to the Lakers, and as a Raptors fan I have to throw Bosh's name in the mix. Not only does he mean so much to his team, but he's a class act all around.

From every-bodies comments I have read, I got the feeling that

1) Chris Paul is number 1 for MVP due to having the Best record in the west and not having the greatest team. The west is tough and if Hornets went on a 6 game skid they could looking from the outside. Hornets have been consistent and it is cause of Paul. Scott as coach helps also.

2) Kobe following along but if the Lakers can over the Hornets he will be the MVP. Gasol and Bynum coming back might take some eyes off him. But I still think the record will be a huge factor.

3) Lebron just cause his team sucks and they are still winning but the weak east is what hurts him. I think he has a chance but he need to get up there with the best of the east teams.

4) KG, fits him because of the Celtics record but like Lebron he is in the weak east and he is also on the best team in the east by far, except maybe the pistons.

5) D Howard, hard working but I think his team would at least need to be number 1 in the east for him to get it. Also Turkoluo has got to be a top candidate for Most improved. He is passing, scoring and hitting clutch shots.

We will see in the next few months who really deserves it.

Kobe has to be the MVP. He's playing with a bad finger on his shooting hand. And also, if the Lakers didn't have Kobe they wouldn't even make the playoffs this year.

I think you can say that about almost every team in the West. From 1st to 9th in the west is only 5 games. If Hornets lost Paul they would drop faster. I think it is going to come out to be who ever has the better record. Kobe or Paul.

Going into the season, not many people would have looked at the Hornets as more than a sub .500 team, yet they've led the stacked western conference for a good portion of the year. Kobe's surrounding cast is too good, KG's production hasn't been enough on the court, and the Magic and Cav's records aren't good enough for Dwight or Lebron to take it. Chris Paul has everything it takes to be an MVP. He's putting up the big numbers (20.7 ppg, 10.7 apg, 2.7 steals) and the Hornets are this year's feel good story in the NBA.

The Lakers starting five may be the best in the league, and their bench goes deep as well. The Hornets starting five is pretty good at best, and their bench is basically non-existent. In short, Paul has accomplished more with a lot less.
