Why is Dwight howard on there vs. Lebron. I'd say Kobe thoughMaster_Jdog
I was thinking the same exact thing! I went with Kobe too because he's a stud and deserves it. The guy is amazing and really has been playing like a real leader/MVP.
Yeah but votes are cast after the regular season which means to people that vote don't vote in the regular season.I think it could go between Kobe and Lebron. Depends on who does better in the playoffs.

LOL. First time I have ever heard of Dwight as a MVP candidate. You must be a Magics fan.. only reason you would have put him in that poll.
Anyways. KG is my Pick. May not have the numbers but he more important to the celtics then Kobe is to Lakers.Just_Osmo
I'm actually a Lakers fan. I couldn't think of another person to put up and didn't think that Lebron was worthy of it this year. I don't think KG is the MVP b/c of the games he has missed and he is playing with 2 other great players.
If your going by who is the most valuable then it is Chris Paul, because without him the hornets wouldn't be in the playoffs. Lakers still have a good team without Kobe. Chris Paul has elevated himself to the best PG in the league status and that is with a bunch of C+ players. But if Kobe gets it we can at least stop hearing about him not getting an MVP award, cause that crap is getting old.
I was gonna say something similar to this. This is the reason why Justin Morneau wins MVP in MLB a couple years back over Jeter. He carried the Twins into the postseason. Without Jeter, the Yanks would still be a damn good team. MVP = most valuable player, not most oustanding. If your going by who is the most valuable then it is Chris Paul, because without him the hornets wouldn't be in the playoffs. Most Valuable would be KG to the Celtics. He single handedly changed the franchise.
Its tough for me.. Its between Kobe and Kevin Garrnet... KG has the best record in the NBA... but the Lakers one West. But overall my vote goes for KobeSalty_Water
It's sad that Kobe is so favored. KG really does so much more then Kobe for the Celtics but theer are no numbers for what he does.

I really don't get this. Alot of people say this but I don't think a team with three all stars is being carried by one player. If so then Paul Pierce should be in the running b/c he takes a good amount of the pressure. He always has.

You really arent going to understand it unless you have watched him all year long. Why isnt kobe losing points for havign Odum and Gasol (and Bynum when he wasnt injured). KG came here and turned the Celtics into a beastly defencive team (Pierce became an amazing defencive player with his arival) and an offencive machine. His intensity he bring is something you cant put numbers on.. he demands every player plays their hardest and trust me they do. Kobe will win but I think KG really should win it. Sad that the team continued to work hard when he was absent (which probably was because they knew KG was in the locker roomw atching).
I don't really think you can count Odom. He is a role player and not an all star. Gasol is a big reason why they are number one but he hasn't been in a quarter of their games. Bynum was there in the beginning. If you have seen how Kobe interacts with the players now it is almost like he is a second coach. Everyone believes in themselves now.Correyov31
Yes, but Kobe is only being nice because they are winning. Your "MVP" was talkign trash about the team prior to the start of the season (and during the very begining). I wouldnt be proud to call him the MVP when he was openly trashing the organization he is playing for.

Can you blame him? Is he really doing anything different from what Shaq did when he was there? The only difference is that Shaq got the trade and Kobe didn't. The Lakers organization did what Kobe wanted them too. Get players to make a championship run. That is one of the reasons he was dissatisfied.

Not sure what happened with my last post but Kobe was angry with the organization for not wanting to make moves that would let them contend. How is it any different from what Shaq did? The only difference is that Shaq got what he wanted.Correyov31
Never said it was different. they are both pieces of crap in my eyes. I wouldnt want a player on my favorite team that will cry for trades when his team is doing bad.

Not sure, but wasn't Paul Pierce asking for a trade a few years back? I could be wrong, but I thought that was in the news a year or two ago when the Celtics were the bottom feeders and you had all these Pierce trade talks. But anyways, what Kobe says during the offseason doesn't matter on MVP voting--it's what you do on the court. I'd like to see CP get it though.[QUOTE="Just_Osmo"][QUOTE="Correyov31"]Not sure what happened with my last post but Kobe was angry with the organization for not wanting to make moves that would let them contend. I dont remember him publicly talking to the media asking for trades. Privatly asking for a trade is a bit different then talking to the media and bashing your organization.
If you ask me, Steven A. Smith egged Kobe on to ask for a trade. That is how I percieved it. Asking privately wouldn't have gotten out to the media though.Correyov31
Kobe is a very intelligent educated adult. no one can force him to say anythign he doesnt want to say. This isnt like we are talking about a big dumb center like shaq. Kobe is smart enough to not be manipulated by media.

Actually Shaq is a very smart person. You can tell by how he is able to manipulate the media. Kobe is also smart but a smart person can be manipulated when emotion is factored in. What makes you think Kobe is so intelligent anyways. He is my favorite player but I don't believe he is "very intelligent" and "educated". Not saying he is dumb.

Pierce never came out and asked to be traded, he's never quit on the team even when things were bad and he felt like his best years were passing by. There was a time when Ainge almost traded him but didn't, alongside a first rounder for the #3 pick in the '05 draft. Ainge has said afterwards he would have taken Chris Paul if he pulled the trigger. But none of that was orchestrated by Pierce. it's true he probably would be gone if we had won a top 2 pick but that's all ancient history now.
Kobe will win the award, partly because he's had a great season but mostly because he's due. Chris Paul is equally deserving and I'd love to see him get it but his age is going to work against him, much like it did for LeBron over the past few years.
