Why African-American domiante sports, and why we hate to talk about it?

Its become taboo to talk about why the majority of every league (except the NHL) is black, despite African-American being a tiny minority of the population.

 So why is this? How do they dominate sports when 9 out of 10 people in America is white?

They do not dominate sports. Basketball and American Football only but these are only 2 examples.

MLB, NHL, Soccer, Volleyball, Racing...the list keeps going and they do not dominate those sports. For you to assume that they do is racist. As a Hispanic-American, I have to ask why do you believe that African-Americans dominate sports?

And oh yea, 9 out of 10 people are not white. Use google and find out....dumba**

First of all, 9 out of 10 people in America aren't white. 65% of people in America are white (not including white Latinos.)

It's a huge collection of social and economic factors. Black people are disproportionally born into areas of poverty and in areas in which the schools offer a relatively poor education (making a path of higher learning not an option thereby putting a huge emphasis on athletics.) This coupled with the fact that there has historically been very, very few "academic" black role models.... so many young black kids spend their time emulating athletes (in sports in which they are prominent that is, these days that's mainly basketball or football) or rap stars, because those people make up the overwhelming number of black role models.

mlb alone is not. They have like maybe 19% for black players. I think its even lower than that.

African Americans are great in basketball and football. Why? Because they are better than the rest. And God blessed them with amazing talents and what not.

Seems that as times go on, athletes of different races are graviating more towards specific sports. I think someone like Ryan Freel would make an excellant NBA point guard, but he's swinging a stick and throwing out runners*cough*instead.

We don't talk about it because there's no point to talk about it. They aren't going to run a news story saying, "Breaking: Most basketball players are black". It's 2008, who cares?JML897

You are right about MLB, blacks are beginning to lose their dominace, but its not because they are being outplayed by white guys. Whites are losing all sense of identity in all other sports, as blacks are dominating all other sports.

wow, where to start on this:

1) 9/10 americans are not white. In a couple of years whites will be the minority in america

2) African Americans do not dominate every sport. Hockey, Baseball, Golf, MMA, yes there are great African American players, but they do not dominate the sport

3) Why do we hate to talk about it? well about 200 years ago in Olde America, Slavery was present. African Americans were forced to work for next to nothing. And since no one cared what you did with your slaves, owners would treated their slaves like cattle, including poor living conditions, long hours of work, and selective breeding. Thats right, breeding. Slave owners didn't want weak or smart slaves, just strong obediant ones. So the weak were killed and the strong ones were allowed to breed. you can use what ever knowledge you have of evolution to connect what happened then to where we are now
