I've never understodd this at all.I cheer for 1 team per sport and couldn't imagine pulling for a different team.If you ask me people who pull for multiple teams are not true sports fans because they don't go through the heartbreak when there team loses. What are your thoughts on this?

I see where you are coming from, but some people like me just like a certain player for that one team and feel kinda bad if that team loses, but not at the expense of their favorite team. For example; I like L.T. but if they lose to the 49ers(My favorite team), then to bad for him.

Because people like the sport and enjoy the way certain teams play the game.. because people have relocated and no longer can watch their favorite team every day.. because people are fans of certain players, or coaches.. You've got to live and die with your allegiance no doubt, but that doesn't mean you can't follow/appreciate/root for anyone else. I'm a die hard fan of my favorite teams but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching others and pulling for one if it's not affecting me. So long as you know where your allegiance truly lies and no one goes jumping ship when times get tough, everything's still kosher ;)

Yeah, that's like me. I am a Jazz fan but I have liked Dirk since he came into the league so the Mavs are my second favorite team. I do prefer the Jazz to win but realistically the Mavs have the better chance of winning it all. Next year for sure though the Jazz should be solid! They just need to dump a couple of guys and pick up a solid shooter.

But yeah, I have my fave teams in each sport (Niners, SF Giants, Jazz, Stars) but there are other teams I like but just not as much.

The only sport I like multiple teams is baseball. When I was younger I was brought up to like the Yankees since my dad always took me to the Yankee games but my step dad always took me to the Angels games so I was kind of torn between the two teams. Its so hard to go against each team in the playoffs especially when they have to face each other almost every year

It depends on the sport, but in Baseball, it makes sense for a person to like the way one team in the NL game and the way another team plays the AL game. Also, in a sport like hockey; a person might be attracted to a specific way to play; and prefer the uptempo style of a Nashville and a Buffalo over a methodical, slow-paced style of, say New Jersey and Minnesota.

One team per sport for me, but it's always nice to see Larry Fitzgerald or any other Pitt guy dominate on the field.

Some people just love the sport, or love a certain player. Usualy they have a deeper love for the sport.

i was born and currently live in colorado, so obviously i like all the colorado teams. but i lived in california for a while so i also like to see the 49ers and warriors do well, unless they're playing the broncos or the nuggets. and the avs are the only team i really like in the nhl, but i like to see former long-time avs do well with other teams. so i'll be pulling for forsberg and the predators to win the stanley cup this season.

Who cares!  Is there a rule in place that says one can't like more than one team?  Does that make them less of a sports fan than the die hard fan that sticks to his one and only team?  No.  As far as teams that lose critical games, hey it happens.  Move on.

I agree with that and what Romo said about moving because I am originally from Michigan, but I live in NY. But I would NEVER root for the Avs being from Michigan and being a Red Wings fan. That would be like me rooting for the Red Sox, since I have always been a fan of the Tigers, but I root for the Yankees since I live in NY now. But I just hate people (especially a lot of the girls I know) who claim to like sports but root for multiple teams in one sport who are absolute rivals of each other or in the same state. That pisses me off and I cannot stand that. I mean, I am a Michigan Wolverine, Tigers, Pistons, Lions and Red Wings fan first and foremost, but I hear about people who like the Yankee and Mets, Yankees and Red Sox (the worst people of all) Giants and Eagles or the Giants and Jets. That is what really annoys me.

Your wrong. It does make them less of a sports fan because half of being a sports fan is heartbreak when your team loses. If you don't support your team when they lose your not a true fan.

Some people just appreciate the thrill of competition, well-executed strategy, and acrobatic athletics. I may not love the Maple Leafs with an unhealthy passion like most Leafs' fans, but that doesn't make me less of a SPORTS fan, it makes me less of a LEAFS fan. See the difference?

I love sports.  I may not be passionate about home teams but it doesn't make me less of a fan.  If a team I really like loses, it's tough and even tragic, but I move on and hope for the best next season.  The players eventually move on so their fans should too.  Originally from NY, people thought that I was a Yankees fan.  I never liked the Yankees, even when they were dominant in the 90's.  I got a little bored seeing them win.  I like the Mets though.   They fell short the past couple of years and I was frustrated but moved on.  New year, new players, new opportunities.  I love sports, I have sports merchandise of most teams.  That is enough support to be a true fan like the fan that sticks by his home team.
