Since his days with WCW, I always liked watching the guy wrestle from time to time, as he was always one of the wrestlers that you could take seriously because he was just such a talented technical wrestler who did not rely on clownish gimmicks. I also, like most other fans, was also under the impression that he was this kind, honest and loving family man who was always about love, truth and respect. I guess you can throw that out the window as being nothing but yet another wrestling mask, as if he murdered his own family before offing himself, he has earned nothing but contempt as far as I am concerned.

Family man my a$$....more like deranged sociopath in boots and tights.

Why is it so hard to believe that a man like Chris would kill his family? There have been many psychopathic killers who were known as nice people. You can NEVER just look at a person and say what they won't do. We can see a person's exterior but it is even hard to know the frame of mind of any individual.

Even though I do not know what happened, seemingly NICE people kill too.

Then again, some say that Chris received a message from his wife saying that her and her son were sick. She could have made this up just to kill everybody. But an autopsy will show who the killer is, so we will just have to wait for that.

You basically saved your post with this one. People are too quick to call someone out with no facts. Benoit may have beenthe killer, but, I won't be so quick to call him a murderer until I have factual information.

This isn't the issue... There are people who appear to be class acts but then turn around and takes someone's life away. But why make claims with no evidence or actual clues?

Well - speculation has been confirmed by the police:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/06/25/wrestler.dead.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

Courtesy CNNSI.com:

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit canceled a pay-per-view appearance at the "Vengeance" event in Houston because of "personal reasons" a day before he, his wife and their 7-year-old son were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Details of the deaths "are going to prove a little bizarre" when released to the public, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in DeKalb County.

Authorities were investigating the deaths at a secluded Fayette County home as a murder-suicide and were not seeking any suspects.

Investigators believe Benoit, (pronounced ben-WAH) killed his wife and son over the weekend and then himself sometime Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three different rooms of the house on Green Meadow Lane, in a subdivision off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.

Ballard told The Associated Press a gun was not used in any of the deaths. But he declined to say how the three died.

"We're pretty sure we know, but we want to confirm it with the crime lab," Ballard said early Tuesday.

Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell did not return phone calls. The answering service for his funeral home said he was out of town.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."

Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope told WSB-TV that the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he wouldn't release other details.

Stamford, Conn.-based WWE also said on its Web site it had been asked by authorities not to release further information on the deaths of Benoit, 40; his wife, Nancy, 43; and son, Daniel.

Benoit was born in Montreal. He was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career. He was known by several names including "The Canadian Crippler."

"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the company said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit had maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

Benoit's wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

Benoit killed his wife and son then himself. And the cops say a gun was not involved in the killings, so how the hell did he kill them?

I don't know what happened but people are just dismissing Chris Benoit as a murdered because of his nice exterior. If Chris Benoit looked like a stereotypical murderer then people would believe it easier.

Plus I did not make the claim, the police made the claim of a murder suicide as it also was posted on the WWE website.

Many of you who were Chris Benoit fans will just have to accept that despite how Benoit appeared on TV, he may very well be a cowardly, stone cold killer.

I just can't imagine him doing it... But if he really did do it, I will still respect him as a wrestler and all of you should as well. Look and remember what he did in the ring and not what he did outside of it. Chris Benoit may be the worst kind of human being but the Rabid Wolverine will remain one of the greatest of all time.

The fact that he murdered his own blood overshadows his accomplishments in the ring.

Wrestling is staged, murder is not.

They just had a press conference they are ruling it he did it, Pending the rest of the autopsy, and all them reports. This is sad, but I am waiting for the rest of the autopsy report. Plus if he wanted to kill himself, do u think he would of wrote a suicide note. Plus they won't say what the text message was.

I feel terrible for the woman and the son that were killed, may their souls rest in heaven. As for Benoit, apparently all of his mental problems were caused by steroid abuse, which just shows how crappy wrestling is today, all of them are fake athletes, none of them put the real work and effort in

the guy lost control. sounds like alcohol, drugs, and roids might have caused it. possible that this was a cause of ROID RAGE. look that up if u need more info. its really sad and unforunate. he was a troubled man and appearently wasnt probably sane when he did this.

Wait, I meant went back to watching wrestling.

But I really, really, REALLY hope that Chris was either:

  1. Framed by someone who was rather clever at making it look like he did it all. Or
  2. The steroids had a bad influence on him.

I'd prefer number 1.

I just read it somewhere else. If this really did happen, and I will wait for more information, I will lose all respect for him.

How can some of you say that he should be remembered only for what he did in the ring? All athletes are observed based on what they do on the field/court/ice/ring and off!

You can have a lifetime of achievements and praise but it takes one unlawful action such as murder to scar you forever.

Some of you would continue to respect him and remember him for his wrestling career? I'm sorry but his 7 year old didn't deserve to be killed.

The most craziest thing of all is when some of the WWE superstars sat in front of the camera all emotional, glorifying just how much of a great person he was backstage, and how he was such an inspiration to many, I wonder if they wouldfeel the same way if what the police reported is confirmed. If Benoit did murder his family, I would have wasted 3 hours of my life watching WWE programming of a tribute to a murderer last night!

please don't buy into the whole "roid rage" thing. Anybody who has done solid research, set foot in a weight room, or even experimented with it themselves knows that whole "roid rage" concept is blown WAAAAYYYYY outta proportiion. Roids didn't cause him to kill his family. There was obviously something else going on, and something like alcohol, drugs/steroids, MAY have contributed, but by no means are the end all be all of the situation. I wish these media broadcasters who have never spent a day in a gym or done any firsthand research on their own would do some before saying stuff like that. They have to big of a voice and with the congress involvement in steroids in professional sports these days, the whole "roid rage" seems to be an easy cop out, and one that the public will be ok with because of all the negativity around steroids that has been imbeded in the public's head over the past few years. Which is a shame cause i know, and anybody who has half a brain knows that this whole situation is deeper than "roid rage" and it's incredibly ignorant and irresponsible journalism to blame it solely on that.

I agree, people just do not want to admit that Chris Benoit is a cowardsly, sociopathic, cold blooded killer but instead want to lay some of the guilt by saying it was soley because of steroid abuse.

I've been reading cnn.com and espn.com

plus watching all the news channels

says he bound her legs and hands on friday, blood by her head shows sign of struggle

boy was killed saturday or sunday morning choked to death with needle marks in his arms, belived he was too small for his age so they were shooting him up with roids

they can tell this stuff through how much the bodies were decomposed

he then hung himself with the cables too his weight machine, before placing bibles next to their bodies

bizarre, this guy deserves no respect but its sad he went this route, terrible

I'll try to answer that as bluntly as possible without incriminating myself. NO THEY DON'T. All that stuff you mentioned is very minimal. Yes it could have contributed lets say 10%-15%, but it was not the main factor. It was something deeper, and this stuff MAY have just added fuel to the fire. And the fact that he's a professional wrestler he is fully aware of what it does. I can't confirm this but i'd be more than shocked if he was shooting his kid up w/ steroids. I'm all but certain it was more than likely growth hormone which is a completely different and common thing for children that are smaller than they should be. I don't know if i agree w/ the method, but it's far from out of the oridinary

I don't know if i agree w/ the method, but it's far from out of the oridinary

yeah they do cauze it to a small extent, but the 10 to 15% thats all u need ya know, dosent make it right

all you need is 1% for someone to go nuts
