Multiple paths in an RPG always makes you go back for more, or alternate endings (Chrono series) make an RPG have high replay value. It's hard to believe so many RPGs don't take advantage of that, multiple endings are awesome, yet only a few games actually use the concept....

I know. I wonder why:|

Re: the multiple paths thing.  I think many people try to do it, but they do it wrong.  They make you do the same tedious tasks over and ovr again as different people or they make you revisit the same places over and over again.  The ogre battle games always had a choose your path to the ending of your choosing, so did vandal hearts and a couple others.  Oh and crono cross did, but I didnt think they pulled it off very well.

Another example of multiple paths done well: Seiken Densetsu 3. Players picked three characters out of six available and the first character picked would be the main character and the two others would change the story slightly. Very ambitious to say that it was a SNES game.

Oh yeah I remember that game! Totally awesome starting with six characters with different story paths at the beginning, then all passing one another thoughout the journey and having the actual option to choose members was neat as well! It changed the story since the game has quite heavily on the characters themselves and so each combination changed the story slighty which made excellent replay value! -though takes a while to get through it anwyay! :P
