Is it impossible for a FFVII remake to appear on another console? No, but if you expect it to come out for a non Sony system you better realize a long list of things need to happen.
For starters Sony would have to piss off SE, and I mean really piss them off, as long as SE is making games for Sony, Sony is going to have the first shot at the remake. All of the nintendo remakes that came out for Sony systems happened when the relationship between nintendo and SE was very bad. And auctally all of the games put on PSX were ports not remakes.
Sony is going to fight tooth and nail before one of the most popular games of all time gets remade on one of their rivals systems.
And if im not mistaken, when SCEA published FFVII they had a lot more to do with the project than compared to the other FF titles.
You dont have to work for SE to realize that the odds of FFVII being remade for anyone other than Sony has some pretty small odds right now.

Some of the PS3 guys even said that a lot of things would need to happen if FFXIII were to come on 360. Well,a lot of things exactly didn't happen,YET FFXIII did come on 360. But,don't forget what is SE's policy right now: "Expanding their sphere of influence over the Western gamers." Isn't that one of the main reasons why FFXIII went multi-platform? Isn't that the reason why Infinite Undiscovery is a 360 exclusive? Isn't that the reason why Last Remnant and SO4 (possibly) are timed-exclusives for 360?
If you had said to a FF fanatic a couple of months ago, that FFXIII would be coming to 360 nobody would have believed that. You have got to understand the fact that SE isn't no longer the faithful,"stick to a company" type of developer any longer.
You must have noticed like all of us,that SE since it's formation and departure of Sakaguchi has been looking to explore broader horizons. Ports,spin-offs,anime series, books all began with SE. All that wouldn't happen in such "out of bounds" manner as it does now,if Sakaguchi were still at the helm. He was known to be a sort of developer who would stick to the traditions more closely (remember,FFIX).
SE has done a lot of things which it would have never done in it's SquareSoft days. One,they have rekindled their relationship with Nintendo. Second, they have actually released a multi-platform FF game from the main series. A first,if I am not mistaken. That said, one cannot rule out an equal probability of FFVII remake to come on both consoles together.
Sony did fight tooth and nail to protect FFXIII as their exclusive, right? What happened there, then?
