With FFXIII going multi platform, and Last remnant going multi platform eventually, and the possibility of Star Ocean IV getting ported to the PS3 in the future, it is clearly obvious that the games can be made quite easily for both systems.

This has been said to be more of a good thing, than a bad thing by a lot of fans, due to people not having to buy more than one console to play their SE games.

So should all of them go multiplarform? It means that console owners wouldn't need two consoles if they wanted to play both White Knight chronicles AND infinite undiscovery. What are your opinions on this?

Er... well yes and no. Yes in the sense that everyone will be able to play the games and this is good for fans. No in the sense that there would be no competion between the consoles, which could be bad overall.

I think it would be a great thing. There will always be people who are loyal to certain consoles but overall, it is the gamers who count. If we could all have access to all the great games out there, it would be wonderful :)

Yes. It would also force companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Wii to develop more 1st party titles.

As many as possible. It's good for us gamers. From our perspective why wouldn't we want that?

youn can't compare a remake ofa game for a handheld with a remake make for a next-gen console, they didn't even made a complete remake with I&II(III and IV, those were complete remakes), they just enhanced the graphics, updated somemosnter designs and added an extra dungeon.

The rights to a remake of FFVIII are a hell of a lot more complicated than FF1 & 2. Notice how FF3 & 4 remakes are staying on ninentdo systems? Its for a reason.

Like it or not, when the FF7 remake happens you are going to have to play it on a Sony system.

You are talking as if you're a SE employee and are holding the rights of FFVII in your own hands right now.

Dude, most of the companies never make the "publishing rights" of a particular game public. What you are saying is common sense and anyone could say that since FFVII came on PSX,it will eventually come onto PS3.

But history doesn't always go that way, does it? I know FFVII was published by SCEA,but then even games like Chrono Trigger,FFVI,FFIV,FFI,FFII were published by Nintendo but came on Sony consoles as well.

Try not sounding definitive about something purely speculative. If your intent is on hurting other people's feelings, then you can do it so,but somewhere else.

Is it impossible for a FFVII remake to appear on another console? No, but if you expect it to come out for a non Sony system you better realize a long list of things need to happen.

For starters Sony would have to piss off SE, and I mean really piss them off, as long as SE is making games for Sony, Sony is going to have the first shot at the remake. All of the nintendo remakes that came out for Sony systems happened when the relationship between nintendo and SE was very bad. And auctally all of the games put on PSX were ports not remakes.

Sony is going to fight tooth and nail before one of the most popular games of all time gets remade on one of their rivals systems.

And if im not mistaken, when SCEA published FFVII they had a lot more to do with the project than compared to the other FF titles.

You dont have to work for SE to realize that the odds of FFVII being remade for anyone other than Sony has some pretty small odds right now.

Some of the PS3 guys even said that a lot of things would need to happen if FFXIII were to come on 360. Well,a lot of things exactly didn't happen,YET FFXIII did come on 360. But,don't forget what is SE's policy right now: "Expanding their sphere of influence over the Western gamers." Isn't that one of the main reasons why FFXIII went multi-platform? Isn't that the reason why Infinite Undiscovery is a 360 exclusive? Isn't that the reason why Last Remnant and SO4 (possibly) are timed-exclusives for 360?

If you had said to a FF fanatic a couple of months ago, that FFXIII would be coming to 360 nobody would have believed that. You have got to understand the fact that SE isn't no longer the faithful,"stick to a company" type of developer any longer.

You must have noticed like all of us,that SE since it's formation and departure of Sakaguchi has been looking to explore broader horizons. Ports,spin-offs,anime series, books all began with SE. All that wouldn't happen in such "out of bounds" manner as it does now,if Sakaguchi were still at the helm. He was known to be a sort of developer who would stick to the traditions more closely (remember,FFIX).

SE has done a lot of things which it would have never done in it's SquareSoft days. One,they have rekindled their relationship with Nintendo. Second, they have actually released a multi-platform FF game from the main series. A first,if I am not mistaken. That said, one cannot rule out an equal probability of FFVII remake to come on both consoles together.

Sony did fight tooth and nail to protect FFXIII as their exclusive, right? What happened there, then?

Yeah,us 360 owners do have a hard-time with some of the PS3 fanboys, when all we wish is a friendly, insightful conversation. Since we're both 360 owners in a union that is most likely to be populated by PS3 owners,we need to watch each other's backs.

I'm not a big fan of Microsoft as a company but I do love my 360, as much as I love my PS2. We should be able to, as a community, respect each other's opinions enough to have those friendly, insightful conversations you speak of :) We all love games and SE, so why does it matter what console it's on?

I agree. I have always wondered what's wrong with these fanboys? I mean HOW CAN YOU LOVE ANY OF YOUR CONSOLES MORE THAN GAMES? You play games on your console, and not the other way around, right? You can't do anything with the console alone right? Good games make a good, successful console, and that's the formula as unbeatable as E=mc2

Yeah SE games should go multiplatform on all of there games now so I could enjoy playing it when it comes out. I never liked the idea of 3rd party exclusives, just the fact that I couldn't play certain games because I have a 360. Good thing SE goes multiplatform because I had a PS2 last gen I still have it today since it has good games for it still, but when I heard the PS3 was $600 I bought a 360 since I could afford it at the time.

That's why I think its great that developers are makeing so many cross platform games. It just sucks to have "the other system" when a killer app comes out.

360 would get games like FFXIII versus, and Diseaga 3

and PS3 would get The Last Remnant which is actually good, and Star Ocean IV which was recently announced as 360 exclusive with no plans for PS3

well im a 360 gamer so....it would work out for me

All consoles are different, however it's hard to say that all the games will be 'emulated' on all the platforms. One console will lose appeal, meanwhile another console will be the focus by a company.

Also how will a company port the controls excatly to another console... lets stay a Wii game with wii controls be focused on the Xbox 360. What if all the games do that... then it will force the user to buy a Wii mote for the 360.

They just change the control scheme when they port games from 360 to PS3 or vice-versa. Usually Wii-made games don't get ported over to other two consoles due to lack of motion-sensing (alright PS3 has got it...but it's cumbersome compared to Wii-mote).

Square Enix didnt make Disgaea anything-that's Nippon Ichi Software-and also, PS3 was already getting Last Remnant, I dont know when, but it's already been planned for PS3, heck originally the two versions were supposed to be out at the same time but the PS3 version got pushed back to whenever.

I think everyone should be able to play their games, more money and exposure for SE to continue making some good games. Plus it gets rid of some of the fanboy bs. The only thing that would be a possible issue is that it could delay the release of games, because I'd bet that the PS3 US version of FF13 would be released earlier had it not gone to 360 and now having a same day release for both systems. And they might make changes so both 360 and PS3 have identical games. Because it's a fact that Blu-Ray holds more space and it would be kinda lame that they cut some things so both versions are the same content wise.

There are already multi-disc games like Lost Odyssey. So there is no doubt that even FFXIII will be a multi-disc DVD. It would be silly to think that SE would remove any game content just because 360's disc is too small compared to Blu-Ray.

I think going multi platform is a bad idea.... You see the reason xbox 360 sells more is because its easier to pirate the game (well that what my friend who has xbox 360 told me)think like this guys square maybe currently want to go multi platform but if the sales on xbox 360 are low because of pirated games, they maybe just stick to ps3 because I dont se any stall selling pirated bluray games.......Also in japan because of the economy crisis ,they are reported many games stall selling 360 pirated games.......

Oops 2 mistakes, I meant to say Infinite Undiscovery, and there was confusion with Disgaea, SE releases all Disgaeas in Europe, its on their web site

All the systems have piracy-and pirating on the 360 is not that easy-and you will be banned from Xbox LIVE if caught-which they can detect if your console is modded. The Xbox 360 currently has the most software SOLD compared to the other two systems.

wrong-the software attach ration is way higher on the 360 and a game that you have no choice but to get with the console due to the fact Nintendo bundled it in hardly counts as a big seller. It just means it's a piggybacking game...

Wii sports still counts as software like it or not. Wii has sold more software then 360 i really dont want to say it again.

I have a Wii so dont start thinking im anti-Wii or anything. I just think it's hardly fair to count something that people have no choice if they want or not as something that is sold-when it's something that's forced with it.

I am with Crona on this one. Just because Wii Sports is the best-selling game this gen doesn't mean it technically is. People get it along with their consoles. So people get it irrespective of whether they want it or not, whether they care about it or not.

I wonder how many of those who buy Wii play the Wii Sports game?

Im not saying i like wii sports being counted but the fact is that it is counted as a game sold on the market. Thats like saying all the halo 3 games that were sold with the console shouldnt be counted towards the overall sales because the customer didnt choose to buy the game it came with the console.

I see what you mean but still if you do a side-by-side comparison as to how many bought Wii Sports SEPARATELY compared to those who got Halo 3 SEPARATELY then you would see one of the sides getting heavily outnumbered.

Also, the Wii+ Wii Sports package is available in all the regions. And I didn't see Xbox 360+ Halo 3 package doing rounds everywhere in the world actually.

It wouldn't be totally fair to include a game that ALWAYS comes with the console,no matter what.

I think all their games should go multiplatform. It's really frustrating having to check which game is on which platform when it could be done on both 360 and PS3,
