I don't know if this has been done before, but do you guys think that Nobuo Uematsu is a genius?  Let me know what you think.

It isn't important if he come back to Square, the most important thing is that he make music, it doesn't matter where... And Lost Odyssey seems to have a great music.

i dont believe in the term "genius" when it comes to this kind of matter. calling him genius nullifies all the hard work he went through to get to where he is. it makes you think that he started out as good as he did, and it would elliminate the many years he spent to reach the pinnacle. he is indeed very talented, but i think calling ANYONE a genius says that they didn't have to work hard for the talent. i'm pretty sure he wouldn't consider himself a genius either.

I feel pretty comfortable calling him a genius. Uematsu has no equals in terms of game tracks. Harry Gregson Williams and Mitsuda come close, but they aren't quite at his level.

A valid point, however, would you object to the term being attached to men like Beethoven or Mozart? Mozart almost worked himself to death (or actually did, depending on who you talk to).

He is my favorite composer of all time. Whenever I listen to music, it's usually one of the Final Fantasy soundtracks. I have Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X's soundtracks, and I listen to them constantly..

I think it's safe to say he's in the genius category. Needless to say, a large part of the thematic elements in the FF series, especially in more recent titles, wouldn't work as well without his contributions.

Yes, Nobuo Uematsu is a genius without a doubt. He is my favorite video game musician of all time. He is my musical influence. Whenever I listen to video game music, I usually listen to Final Fantasy music. I listen to Final Fantasy at home, on the road, and at other people's homes. I am also learning to play Final Fantasy X's "To Zanarkand" on the piano.
