I was reading the other forum about favorite job classes and i wanted to hear other peoples opinions about wat the most useful class/job is.  IMO i would have to say a Red Mage, simply because they are part Black Mage, part White Mage, and part Warrior.  However i think w/o a white mage kind of character you're screwed so its a bit of a toss up.

I'll have to agree with you on that one. Although you are right with the White Mage comment, you already have a White Mage in the Red Mage. If trained right, a RDM can be one of the most powerful jobs, if not the most powerful job. So yes, RDM is the most useful, I think.

Id have to go for the summoner. They have both helpful and destructive magics. And in a lot of cases much more devistating. Although they do tend to be weak in HP, and arent rell good at taking a hit.

It really depends...

Red mages are good because they have White Magic Power... Black Magic Power... And have warrior skills somewhat... The only problem is that they're only useful for magic most of the time, and that can be a problem...

Warriors, on the other hand, are powerful when it comes to physical combat and can dish out the most damage.

And then there's Summoners... They can summon large creatures to kill smaller creatures... 'Nuff said about them...

My vote would go for the villain. if it wasn't for him/she/it the story wouldn't move. but as far as good guys i'd say the Thief. A part of me is klepto to the monsters and bosses.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again here: the Red Mage.

I would say either a White Mage or Red Mage.

But it mainly depends on your situation.

I would say your healer is your most useful character. The healer is at the core of your fighting party and without her/him, you would die quickly. For example, in Final Fantasy VII, I was fighting bosses and was getting quite frustrated ( ) because I could not kill him since he kept casting poison attacks on my party. I eventually figured out that Aeris was by savior because she could heal Barret (my strongest character) so that he wouldn't have to worry about life and keep attacking.

Well thats good having a healer, but thats hwy I liked FFX alot too.  You had the sphere grid where you could take any character down any path you wanted, so you could have Tidus with WHite Mage, Black Mage, and all kinds of other skills.  So the sphere grid was very helpful in making your characters have lots of skills to help you throughout the game.

I only really found that freedom at the start of FFX with the Expert Sphere Grid. I would have to agree with you about the Red Mage but I would say that healing is the most important magic to have.

You guys have good ideas, but I think that the best class is the alchemist from X-2.  They can be the healer, spellcaster, and fighter.  And they can mix items to create rare and powerful items.

Well I liked it on FFX where you could go all over and have lots of abilities for your characters, like taking Lulu's path with Rikku o Kimarhi, that was the best part about it.

I would say the thief, mainly because they can get you useful items such as potions which really come in handy when you're running out. That's pretty useful methinks....

white mage is useful depending on witch game it is, very useful in iv and v.

red mage was very useful when playing v and summoner is probably the most useful especially when your partys on low health and you risk using a summon to kill the monster.

I've never been a big fan of magic-users. Sure, I use them, but they aren't really necessary for me to complete a game. I've always liked Warrior's. I tend to use them the most.

I would say that STRENGTH characters are the most useful kinda characters. If it was only healers that were alone, they would be too busy healing themselves since they have pretty low lives. So it's nearly impossible for them to attack.

If wizards or any mages fight alone.....sure they do tons of damage, but they have really little life. They could die really fast. Strength both has vitality and strength. They could use X-Potions to heal themselves so I gotta say Strength chars would be the best. Strength is really needed to gcharacters, if they don';t have, they would be very weak making it nearly impossible for a person to finish a FF game.

I would have to agree with the White Mages, without them you would easily die. In FF4-6/1-3, they are essential in order to survive.

I would agree with thieves, i sometimes never attack until i have stolen the item. I havn't played red mage yet but they sound best. It does have to be predominantly White mage tho no question

black mage or dark knight. two very powerful jobs that deal with the dark arts which can deal out some lethal damage. i like being on the offense. "Give the enemy no opportunity to secure your victory." -Karinka

warriors have sufficient mp to do full-heal spells also, and in FFVII 1 person with Final attack and phoenix summon linked would be able to heal everyone when the characters starting getting killed off.

Personally i prefer to have 2 strong characters to deal damage (usually both meleers) and 1 high level healer

As far as usefulness goes I would have to say that the Alchemists in FFX-2 are the most useful. You can use them as healers and they can also attack the enemy causing fairly good damage.

I would have to say Warrior they are un-replaceable in battle they can dish out a decent amount of damage and take a lot of damage I don't think any party should adventure without one but that is just my opinion.

Theres a move to drain mp in many of the FFs, and i normally have more than spare items anyway (FFVII item dup trick works a treat, :P, almost max of all items in FFX now also)

Strong ones with really good attacks and ones with Black magic
