im listing in the pole the consoles which won their respective generations(in term of sales).all of them had great games.IMO ps2 is the greatest console because of its huge library of games.it ws not casula like nintendo or hardcore like xbox.it was balanced and had both games for hardcore gamers and casuals.the only flaw in the ps2 (i think) was a lack of a great fps.but other than that it was perfect.also i have listed sega cuz although they have never won a gen the have always been the underdog anmd come out with fine games.ps2 for me

This is hardly an accurate poll. Would have put the greatest console makers of all time. Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft. That would have worked better.

snes is the best system i think, also you missed a **** load of systems on your poll, also the PS2 may have been the all-time best seller, but PS1 was way better.

The SNES has the best library, imo. Nostalgia has a huge influence on this decision, but I'll stick with it.

I have owned lots of consoles but my all time favourite would have to be the Sega Saturn followed by the Dreamcast & 360. I thought the PS 1 rocked but didn't like the PS2.

I agree, loved the PS1 but for some reason I could never get into the PS2.

SNES by far.... NO OTHER SYSTEM ! has even come close yet to the SNES, this gen may have a chance.... MAY ! But the SNES had the BEST RPG EVER ! FF3 ( usa version ) And the best platformers EVER. If it was not for the SNES looking like crap on my HDTV, I would still jame on it to this day.

All SEGA systems have been great, and the Dreamcast was not better than either the Saturn or Mega Drive, and I would only rank it higher than the Master System because of the Nintendo monopoly that hindered that console.

How could such a short-lived console be the best ever? that's ridiculous, even more hat the last year of it's life, SEGA developed most of it's games as multi-plats, so it doesn't even have the sort of identity that their previous consoles had.

Gotta go with the NES.A lot of thegreat games that are out now started on the NES. I am not even talking about the Nintendo classics like Mario, Metroid andZelda. Think about it, Metal Gear started on the NES, Ninja Gaiden NES, Castelvania NES and the list goes on. So in my book it is thegreatest console ever just because what is brought to gaming even 20 years latter.

I still play some Turbo Duo games from time to time, but that doesn't make it the greatest console ever.

I would believe to cosider a console the greatest ever, would mean you would've been able to go through with it being your only or main console.
