[QUOTE="blues35301"]this game will be fun and worth a rent but it has a lot of gimmicky ideas. like you cant just shoot enemies to kill them, you have to dismember them thats stupid. plus some of the weapons look lameMordred19

Because the creatures apparently aren't reliant on a system of organs to survive, shooting them in the head or center mass is pointless. There's a reason for it in the game's universe, and it provides different gameplay. The weapons are mining tools, so they don't look sleek and effecient and killing things.

actually no. its a gimmicky idea they wanted to implement so they then created a back story to fill in why they make you do this to every enemy. its to make the game seem somewhat original. it should still be cool though.

If you know any of the backstory you would know why you need to blow off their limbs. I won't post any spoilers ;P

Or not. The entire game seems to have stemmed from an unequipped engineer discovering weird alien creatures that he wasn't prepared for. Because he didn't expect such a thing to happen, why would he have the weapons to completely annihilate something he doesn't know about?

With that in mind, how do you think it's a gimmick that he has to hack of limbs in order to destroy the creatures? If it was a gimmick, the context of the situation wouldn't fit, but in this case, it actually does.

What's all this big hate on EA? I think some of their games turn out fine.

The only problem is that they sometimes like to bring out their games every year, like the sports games. They'd stop if people stopped buying them, though.

I'm not hating on EA. I'm just saying that while Dead Space certainly looks promising EA has a nasty habit of finding ways to screw up perfectly good games, so I'm being a little skeptical. Hopefully Dead Space will live up to the potential, but you never know when the marketing/accounting guys are going to step in.

I know there's always a guy who knows a guy... but I have to say it. One of my friends just played this game at the GS Convention in Vegas (managers conference) and he said it was one of the sickest games he's ever played and said he is as stoked for this game as he is Gears of War 2. One mans opinion nonetheless, but a very interesting one at that.

Apparently you'll be able to chop off different body parts depending on the triggers used and you have to figure out what limb is controlling the "zombie" creatures, tons of blood and anti grav rooms! Sounds sweet to me.

"Hey guys, we think this game may be a bit too difficult for people. Would you mind placing more ammo around the levels so players don't run short? And while you're at it, could you add more hit points to the player's character? Thanks a bunch, you've saved this project. ;) "

i think the game will be good. im not hating on it but i just feel it was some drawing board idea they came up with and then scrambled a back story to make it fit. it just feels gimmicky. trust me by the time you've killed your 800th enemy and have to keep walking up to them all wriggling around to blow the last limbs off you'll be tired of it

I'm calling 7.5-8.0. Good game, but nothing "OMG" amazing.

IT LOOOKS WAY TOO AWESOME

Easily my most most anticipated game for the rest of the year. I think while everybody will be busy talking about LBP or Fable 2 or Fallout 3, this game will steal and suprise everybody in October.

What do you mean exactly? Space stations are generic?

Halo 3 is a generic space shooter, this is a space horror game with zero-g effects that have never been done before.

Have a look:

Yes this is an EA game and yes it will probably outscore hyped fall games like Valve's left4dead. If this was an id game people would be going crazy over it. The EA hating thing needs to end.
