1. Why do J-RPGs have the "because I said so" or "just believe it" mentality in their way of explaining their world? What the heck is a Fon Artes, a Magic-sphere, Miasma, or  Mana? Where the heck do these things come from? "Just believe it!" But how do they exist? "Because I said so!" Get what I'm saying?

2. How come the enemy only fall asleep when Tear sings a hymn during battle?

3. Why is "alchemy" always misinterpreted from what it really is? How does a spear and a rod turn into a elixir?

4. How come the Sword of Kings is such a weak-sauce weapon but it can destroy the Dusk Shard?

5. Why can't you just use one tent the entire time?

6. If the guardians or the espers are there to help you, why do you always have to try and kill them?

7. How does Vaan travel through the Paramina Rifts with only a vest on? Do I even have to mention Fran?

8. My character is paralyzed, has a virus, is turned to stone, blinded, drenched in oil, burned, and frozen, but a good night sleep at the inn will make me good as new.

9. A boat doesn't sail, but how can you fly on a dragon when there is no wind?

10. Why can't they just use life-magic, a red save-crystal, or a phoenix down to bring Aeris back to life?

There are tons more. The list can be endless. If you know anymore, post them.

1. I'm sorry that you lack imagination in a fantasy setting. Though a lot are explained through talking to characters in the game in most situations, but again if you lack imagination in a Fantasy game, then you probably shouldn't be playing that type of game, and should stick to something more realistic.

2. Ever heard of a lullaby? Again it's a fantasy setting, if you don't have an imagination and can't accept magic, then play Rainbow 6.

3. Because most of the population in the world really cares how an exlir is made from certain items, and wants to know the details about how to make one irl. Of course they don't, they don't care. They just want the exlixir

4. Why does a butter knife cut through butter so easily, but doesn't cut through steak. Maybe because the sword of kings wasn't meant to spill blood? Might want to pay attention to the story line.

5. Back to imagination, not to mention gameplay issues. But using you can imagine the different terrains would have affects on your tent, so you may need a new one.

6. Who said you're killing the espers? I don't remember an esper, guardian, or aeon ever dieing.

7. Why do cartoon characters where the same clothes every episode. This one doesn't need to be talked about. Just go play Rainbow.

8. Plenty of rest will make anyone feel better. Not to mention the drawers and accerories and items behind inn counters, who's to say they don't use them. Cause we all know their isn't such things as showers, just because they cut time. I mean after all it is a Fantasy game.

9. I have no idea why you say there isn't any wind. But even if their wasn't, Dragons have wings. End.

10. Maybe because they're dead, and not K.O.'d Knocked out.

There are tons more, but you should probably work on your realism issues first. Unless you want another boring game due to all the realstic and impractical changes. Lets not create one of those.

But in short like everyone said. Yes, it's because they said so.

I get you mate, some Japanese RPGs just puzzle me, for example, otogi 2. When I first played it I thought 'Best graphics EVER!!!' but as I got into the game I got confused with all the flying and demons and you want to kill them all because 'you have enough reason to' as it says in the game.

Ah, no. I didn't get owned or whatever the heck you call it.

My list was only meant to poke fun at our wonderful, lovable, doesn't make any crap-sense, J-RPG world we all love to play.

And I think some of you shouldn't take it too seriously.

Maybe there is a place for me "Somewhere over the Rainbow..." come to think of it, that's all a song based on a fantasy setting, right?

Lighten up, it's just a game.

1. They can take place in a fantasy setting, which doesn't need explaining. 3. "Alchemy is an early protoscientific practice combining elements of chemistry, physics, astrology, art, semiotics, metallurgy, medicine, mysticism, and religion." 8. It's a game. 9. How do birds fly without wind? 10. "Just believe it!"

I'm a big RPG fan, I agree with a lot of the bashing here actually. The reason that RPGs always seem so weird is really a cultural difference, which is in the same sense to why Japanese don't understand our love for guns and burgers. I agree that a lot of RPGs have cringing storylines, but there's usually a jewel of a story within all of that. You have to understand that RPGs try to play a story, and in stories the creator uses their own culture to express in some way how they want to present the story. It effects everything from the characters emotions to the battle system. Did you not find it weird how Yuna expressed such a empty headed personality in FFX? Well there's a little sexism in there, yes, but it has a lot to do with past Japanese culture when women were put down for speaking out or expressing themselves. Of course the pretty boy Tidus who's always whining is victim to the same. A lot of men in Asia have a very honorable and sensitive sense of life, and may even appear effeminate in some ways. This is due to a lot of past cultural history that I won't get into... It involves gay samurai though lol

Otogi 2 is a JRPG? I played the demo of it and it seemed to be a hack'n'slash game.

dude it's a game, it's not real. This is like trying to explain why mario grows big when he eats mushrooms, why the guards in MGS can't see beyond 6 feet, why does mitochondria in parasite eve give you powers, why are the guys in GeoW so big like gorillas, why is there such a thing as sands of time in PoP.

Have you seen or met an asian man before? They have very feminine features compared to their western pals. And all the hair color variations: because their hair is extremely dark, there are slight color variates in their hair. It's strange, but true. They just exaggerate it. It's a culture issue.

Well, they sure have a reason for doing all this? :) Why do people fly around in Japanese movies? Every game has a lot of unrealistic features in it, Japanese games have more hehe, but that doesn't keep me from loving it. Anyway their storylines are allways very nice.
