I kind of sucks when people blow things out of proportion doesn't it?
Kind of like the last few months of cow threads. This is SO much like the beginning of last gen it isn't even funny.
You can dish out bullshit but you can't take the backlash.

Fanboys gonna fanboy
The S.D.F. is in overdrive today...lol.
Anyway if there are 7 reports of failures posted, then you can be sure that there are more. It's not like everyone posts their failures on the internet. Most people just call Sony, and wait for a replacement. Not everyone feels the need to be the center of attention.
That being said electronics break, and a launch console is going to have issues. The XBone will probably have issues next week also. Although for some reason I doubt the TC will be defending the low amount of XBone failures. I would imagine there will be links to each and every failure put up, and calls of another RRoD fiasco next week...
Yeah but only 7 means the amount is low. I don't subscribe to any console maker per se. But looking from the outside....this number is so small as to be negligible....and unless one has their own bias....they'd see that. It's pointless for anyone to pretend it's a wide spread problem when thus far....there is no reports. And if it were....we'd be hearing it by now.
I agree with your second post. RROD was a disgrace though.
Of course I didn't mean it to imply that the number was large, we really have no idea how many consoles are out there already. Just that some people will not go online to complain, they will just call Sony directly. So there are probably more than 7 or 9 failures. Still a certain amount of failures are expected with launch consoles.
How many of those 4000 people actaully read and post on forums, little tip it's probably only the tip of the iceberg.
You're absolutely right. People have no families or friends either. How stupid of me. In fact, I bet Sony flew spec ops troops in on black helicopters last night to silent the dissent.

This is very true. Same shit, different gen.

No come back so just posting shit?
You do the math and figure out if this really sounds like RRoD. ~1% consoles with basic failures or something indicating that the GPU is slowly being cooked like barbecue? I'll let you work that one out. If you think HillZones will be indicative of how your PS4 experience will be, then by all means, rip the hard drive out of the PC you are reading this post on RIGHT NOW and let me know how that works for you.
ok, I did the math.
9/4000 = 0.00225% failure rate.
For comparison, the RROD360 had a 30% failure rate.
Calm down lemmings. You still hold the title for worst console hardware ever launched.

8/4000 = 0.002% failure rate.

Uh the PS4 hasn't even launched, you can't calculate the failure rate.

I know.
We'll find out over this weekend how many PS4's are failing.
But the OP told u to do the math, so I did it for him.
Based on his numbers, the failure rate is EXTREMELY SMALL.
@adamosmaki: but it's okay for lems to make threads that say ps4's breaking everywhere when that hasn't been reported? Double standards much.
did you hear me say anything about that ? And is a different think commenting on something that actually happened and a whole different think predicting the failure rate be it good or bad of a launch product in its first day. You simply cant predict the failure rate in the first day and say its 1% like TC says or 30% like some Lem might say. Geee some cows in here

apparently they cant get that in their head. Also apparently the 0,002% failure rate is guaranteed to stay that low since after the first day if a PS4 aint broken is never gonna break in the future . Yeap fanboy logic to the roof
ITT:
Lems mad because numbers don't support the conclusion that PS4 has a catastrophic failure rate
Some people seem just plain mad there is new hardware (bu bu bu, it could fail in the future. No shit, it plugs into a wall outlet and internet, right?)
People super mad that one thread title actually quantifies what's happening as opposed to exaggerates.
Please, continue.
RROD's came after some use, these are dead right out of the box .
People should relax and wait a couple of month's, there's nothing to be alarmed by yet .
hard to tell when everybody doesn't post on the internet there are things such as calling customer support
@Shewgenja: the only crying i see is you trying to make all things ok. Best bet for you is boot your ps4 in safe mode when you get it. Lol and take that usb stick and update. Amateur lol
It's not too late to stand in line now. Come on, you know you want a PS4.
Just because somebody decides to not to report their issues online or in a forum doesn't mean that the issues don't exist. Out of 4000 people, how many do you think would report defects? Or have already called Sony instead of posting it online?Compare that to millions of people with the console.
Welcome to the year 2013. If you don't have internet then you have family or friend who do. This is a huge product launch and people will weigh in on it. It's not like Sony sent these consoles to a bunch of grass huts in Borneo, dude.
You're ASSuming kid. Just because YOU might go crying on the internet doesn't mean everyone else would.
Cows will cow

Yep you said it, how stupid of you. You really believe EVERYONE will go on the internet to cry just because YOU would? I guess you really are stupid.

Like I said earlier in this thread. If you took the number of actual known broken PS4s and doubled that number, then doubled that number AGAIN we would be up to 1%. In statistics, there are assumptions and then there are acceptable ranges. I'll let you decide which side of the court this falls on. You are more than free to take the information and draw your own conclusion.
That's common sense. Lems have zero ammunition against dat ps4 so any kind of bullshit is something to them.
Yup all 4000 decided to report in yesterday.... you got to be fing kidding me with this crap?
Whatever happened to posting with substance??
Eh....I'd imagine if it was a widespread problem....it would be reported. It's just as much crap to assume problems when they haven't been reported. Which is what you're doing.
because 4000 is a good representation of the million within the first month. The point is that if we are seeing this on an already very small scale, what will happen once millions of units hit the hands of users?
a smart person would say the ratio would stay the same? think much... probably not?
Is that 7 after a day or two days? Idiot.
And no doubt you made a zillion 360 rrod threads in the past.
Wasn't here for RRoD. RRoD was also a billion dollar mistake.

No small wonder that Lems have their panties in a wad over a few PS4 issues. They are thirsty as hell.
No shit Sherlock. It has only been a day or two with a limited number of units. You might want to give it a while. Your slavish loyalty to a piece of plastic has your panties in a bunch. There is no need for this thread; at least yet, hopefully never
You cows are the worst. You dish it out continuously and yet can't take the smallest things. You aren't even smart enough to figure out that a thread like this just gives lemmings another opportunity.
It is 7 or whatever over a day or two. That means nothing, yet. Idiot.
You obviously are selectively reading threads.... oh wait your probably a lem
how many doom and gloom thread have lems made about hardware failures based on the same topic?
I love it when lems say stuff like cows are the worst but dont realize they are just as bad
@Shewgenja: the only crying i see is you trying to make all things ok. Best bet for you is boot your ps4 in safe mode when you get it. Lol and take that usb stick and update. Amateur lol
so the 360 didnt have any consoles that died on boot up? oh wait..... highest console fail rate in the history of gaming yea... why dont you wait more than a day before showing how desperate you are?

Not sure if that was aimed at me or not, but I tell you what, I would L-O-V-E to see the Lemmings make a thread with a death-rate tally on their console. They certainly wouldn't have the balls to do what I've done. Write that in stone and quote me. I did it with the thread title, even.
Let's put this in perspective:
If your Xbox 360 hasn't broken down yet or suffered from the dreaded red ring of death, then consider yourself pretty lucky.
A new survey published in Game Informer's print edition indicates the Xbox 360 failure rate has climbed to a shocking 54.2%. The magazine surveyed nearly 5000 readers, asking them about their experience dealing with broken consoles.
Here are their findings:
Console failure rate
Xbox 360 – 54.2%
Playstation 3 – 10.6%
Wii – 6.8%

So many threads on such a, for now, non-issue.

The article has already been debunked. It was an non scientific survey. It would be like asking on here how many 360s have you had RRoD on you. All the PS fanboys would say they have had 10+ 360 consoles break. Square Trade, a company that actually repairs broken consoles said the rate is closer to 24%. Still bad, but no where near 54%

The point was a perspective thing, not the actual failure rate.
This is still a non-issue, for now.
@Shewgenja: : on the real im getting a ps4 but am def weary of the first batch. Its really not smart to ever get a launch console. Last night with those kids trying to fix the ps4 was some of the funniest shit ever. I wish he formatted when he had the chance.
11 out of 4000? But that's all of them!
No need to worry as long as the failure rate stands below 3%.
