Completely defeats the purpose of Anonymous… morons.
Evolution-X0
No it doesn't... they're trying to reach out to the public. I guarantee you no one important from Anonymous would be linked to that facebook page.
Anonymous is a serious joke right now, though. All their latest attempts are just lame and miscalculated.
I hope they come to a Sony store near me. I wanna go up to them and laugh while wearing my Sony shirt.
Oh my, that I would love to see *Current manager on duty at Sony store calls police* *police arrive and ask offenders to leave and escort them off premises* *some cause trouble Police mace them and cuff them and put them in jail* lol simple as that...One cannot legally go onto private property and protest.
WilliamRLBaker
That's what I thought. They would just be shown, or if it comes to something worse, get the police called on them. Brilliant...*Current manager on duty at Sony store calls police* *police arrive and ask offenders to leave and escort them off premises* *some cause trouble Police mace them and cuff them and put them in jail* lol simple as that...One cannot legally go onto private property and protest.

i really wouldn't advice taking this situation lightly.
Sony seeked the IP addresses of anyone simply visiting the website GeoHotz was distributing the PS3 hack from. they'll be all over this in seconds.
Sony only subpoened for the IP addresses of the people who opened the hacking website to determine that the larger percentage of people who visited the site were from California so that they could try George Hotz in a California courtroom, a state that has dealt with cyber crimes more than many others.
They are not trying to sue the people who visited the site, that would be beyond absurd, costly, and pointless as they would have no case against said visitors. George Hotz however violated the Sony's ToA and distributed the "key" to hacking the PS3 and also Sony's PSN thereby endangering the gaming experience of Sony's customers.

I wholeheartedly agree that someone like that would be hard to find.

Maybe the PS3 fanbase should stage a counter-demonstration-- a BUYcott, if you will. On April 16, while all those Anon trolls are wasting away their Saturday sitting around in Sony stores while not buying anything, we can all go out and buy Sony and Playstation-related products. Planning to buy a new PS3 game? buy it next Saturday. Planning to buy a new 42" Bravia? Buy it next Saturday. If possible, buy it at a Sony store that has an Anonymous infestation, and wave your reciept proudly as you pass the unwashed masses wearing Guy Fawkes masks. And then, go home and play games on PSN.Timstuff

I would love to see that too. Id do it my self if there was a sony store close by.I still don't understand how anyone can support these people, GeoHotz and those that jailbreak their PS3's (the majority of which simply want to pirate games and hack online games)
Sony is not a corporate saint in terms of how they operate, but in the most capitalistic sense in the gaming industry, Sony has been doing more good nowadays than bad. They're system offers the most value for your money, they have a plethora of first party studios who the majority of whom have talent, and their online service is free and easy to access
These people seem like they have the intention to dismantle Sony Computer Entertainment and I'm wondering why?... Because they're protecting the interest of their consumers by prosecuting someone who facilitated an act that could have rendered their free online service unapproachable? It's bad enough their last place in sales, software and download sales for the platform aren't completely on par with that of the 360 and in the United States the parity in sales is more than 10 million, couldn't these Anonymous people do something better with their time than attack an corporation thats sole purpose is to provide entertainment?..
You are right in that Sony isn't the only company doing underhanded things. But I also doubt that Sony is the only one or the last one to get in trouble. People are waking up a little to how they are constantly mistreated. It's kind of a new ethic trend. I hope to see some phone companies become the next targets, and maybe the insurance and oil companies.I still don't understand how anyone can support these people, GeoHotz and those that jailbreak their PS3's (the majority of which simply want to pirate games and hack online games)

:| really? Anonymous created the Facebook page. it links to several stores Sony owns you can go to sit in and "boycott" the company.
how does it not relate to Anonymous?
But it's not the same anonymous :? BTW, I clicked "I'm attending" just for the hell of it. Although it would be pretty fun to go down to my local Sony store on the day and see how many people actually participate...(and then laugh at them :P )[QUOTE="KevinPlanet"]You are right in that Sony isn't the only company doing underhanded things. We're in a gaming generation that thrives on connectivity and what George Hotz did was damaging as a whole to Sony's network, that is why he is being sued. Any company, Nintendo and/or Microsoft would have done the same if there system had been hacked the way the PS3 was, they're not gonna simply let him get away with posting the "key" to their system and its online network and pretend everything is normal.

Huh?
You're showing support to a group who planned on messing with the network where people play online games through, then in your signature you have "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" stats being shown...suppose Anonymous decided to target EA's servers for that game and shut it down completely? Would you be as apathetic towards them as you're being now? These people are internet terrorists trying to get their way by any means necessary, even if it interferes with the gameplay experiences of people who bought their PS3 with the sole purpose of playing games on it...

I don't think the majority of you understand Anonymous at all. The people who signed up are just random chumps who may have several protests. The real hackers aren't stupid enough to sign up for something like that and the fact that you think Sony has caught them makes me question your intelligence.

There is no victory parade after winning an argument against a person who will not, or perhaps cannot, counter with anything sensible or rational. It's more of a quiet mourning of the aforementioned qualities. You know, the pitiful thing, is that people here actually think the people signing up there are the same ones working behind-the-scenes. tagyhagIt seems as if the majority of people in this thread don't even know who anon are.
Thats about exactly how it will be. not enough people for every store, thus 1-2 people sitting around going "dont buy that, dont buy that!" lolA preview of next week's "demonstration."

sony is gonna send a undercover sony member to join that group and put an end to this. lol for real this is going out of control
Thats about exactly how it will be. not enough people for every store, thus 1-2 people sitting around going "dont buy that, dont buy that!" lol They can't even really do that much. If the store manager decides they are being disruptive, they can have them removed from the premises by security. The inside of a store is private property, not a public space, so the anons are going to have to be on their best behavior if they want to stay in the store.[QUOTE="Timstuff"]

They can still protest on public property around the premises. Honestly if you look at the influence the tea party has done... anon could accomplish way more if they focused on protests instead of DDOS attacks.
Their scientology protests made crazy headlines. Then again motivating a horde of basement dwellers, probably aint easy.

The purpose of the boycott was to physically enter the stores and sit in while not buying anything, though. If they want the protest to be a "success," they have to play by the rules of the store. If the manager asks anyone to leave they are obliged to. I highly doubt that they will be allowed to bring picket signs into the stores, and if they sit in for too long they may be asked to leave. If they have to demonstrate outside then it is just a garden variety protest, which is not what they wanted. How much could I make sony pay for this information?
I need some easy money
austi722
they probably know about it, most big companys probably have people just to search facebook/twitter, they probably don't care because there are almost 7 billion people in the world, 2,000 wont effect anything
I never even knew a Sony store even existed. I'm sure 1200 is enough. I support them. You're not a gamer if you don't.percechThere is exact 1 Sony store in my entire state, and its entirety amounts to half the size of Gamestop. But they sold actual Walkmans in there. Real cassette Walkmans.
