"Not since Star Wars made its theatrical debut in 1977 has there been a universe so full of wonder and awe. Mass Effect is a science fiction tale so galvanizing it makes you question the very existence of humanity, how moral choices can affect a person, and whether or not there's a holy entity watching over us. Just like that galaxy far, far away, this game's accomplishments are as far-reaching as they are revolutionary. It's an amazing work of fiction, a visual work of art, and a property that is so fully realized and so rich in its backstory that its content could fill countless games, books, and movies."

The other reviewer also noted at the end of his review:

"Still, Mass Effect could very well represent the future of entertainment and its few flaws shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying that experience."

Their final score was a 9.75. Both reviewers agreed.Their only concern was with the balancing and AI, but apparently that was only a enough for 2.5% to be detracted from the final score.

It is probably going to be regarded as the greatest sc-fi RPG ever made, as well as one of the greatest games ever in general in my opinion. I would hate to be one who proclaimed that this monumental game game was going to fail. I would hate even more to be one of the gamers that chooses out of fanboyism to miss it.

I'm a pretty big Lemming and I can honestly say that Uncharted looks potentially real good, and I am jealous I wont be able to play MGS4. Why aren't fanboys more reasonable?

i have NO reason to give up. I love Sony and the ps3. the games are great and the online is free. i dislike microsoft so i have no reason to give up as weak Renegade does.

i think i will quote this. its not just being hyped because its exclusive. these people made knights of the old republic one of the best RPGs of last gen for the xbox now it has action with the same custom and upgradeable player, good story line and all that good stuff. the game cant fail.

lock for AAA if any game gets a 10 over the next few years Mass Effect has the best shot and the only shot.

Uhhh..... no. Extremely easy fighting system and I think I only died once on average difficulty the entire 40 hours.

I'm wary of this game. Some of the gameplay videos looked boring. Especially the vehicle missions.

Deus Ex proved that RPGs and shooters could merge but I haven't seen many of the open "all things are possible" environments in Mass Effects gameplay videos. Mostly just claustrophobic shooting scenes.

It's still up in the air as to whether or not Bioware can create a great RPG that loses the heavy turn-based system most of their classics have relied on.

In fact I'll even challenge you to a versus bet, where loser wears a sig of ownage for a month. You lose and you have a sig stating something to the extent: "I wouldn't know a good RPG if it kicked me in the butt. And Mass Effect just did" I lose and I wear the sig statin: "I only play loser RPGs and am not worthy to touch Final Fantasy".

i agree! these lemmings keep saying bu bu bu only gamespot counts!!!111 than they complain about their own games getting low scores. maybe because the systems life is running out.... but yea R&C is a GREAT game. in my books it's a 9.6
