I think this is the best video of the game so far. The graphics look really good here, and the combat is intense. It also looks really smooth. It also shows you the puzzle aspects and showcases the legions really well here too. Overall, I'm going to mega hype this. 9.5 right now, haha.

Your thoughts, SW? Will you be getting Astral Chain on August 30th?

The Japanese style never pulled me until this game. Everything revealed thus far seems solid and I eagerly await release.

Hmm, looks like a cheaper version of Warframe.

So not going to get that one.

Game looks fun, less interesting than Devil May Cry 5, but fun looking none the less.

@jg4xchamp: My problem with Devil May Cry was the linear level design and lack of getting lost. Also very few puzzles.

This might compensate for how mundane DMC5 felt to me.

Platinum Games, you've done it again!

Okay, the videos make it look good. I guess we wont really know for sure until more people get to play the thing all the way through. Coordinating two characters at once could potentially get cumbersome. We'll see once reviews are out.

But right now my feelings are, Platinum Games you've done it again!

The more I see of it, the more excited I get. It so looks like my kinda game!

But I'm not going to look at anymore videos of it... not long to go now. Got it pre-downloaded on my Switch ready to go :)

For the Switch I'm planning to buy Fire Emblem Three Houses, Astral Chain Link's Awakening (and I kinda want that Limited Edition) and Daemon X Machina in the upcoming fiscal month.

I don't believe I have ever bought 4 Nintendo games in a month before... maybe not even in 2 months. I'm not even sure about 3 months now that I think of it...

September is killer. Good year for gaming.

I wish Sony or MS had became butt buddies with Platinum instead of Nintendo...

Instead I gotta get a switch to play their games (on weaker hardware) and they will probably never drop in price.

Yea, the level design was very old school.

@Star67: linear level design is perfectly fine, DMCs mechanics allow players to free style so the action is anything but linear unless you just lack any sort of execution skills or are lazy.

Beyond that why would I want to do mediocre puzzles in an action game? If I wanted puzzles? I’ll play an honest to god great puzzle game like the witness or baba is you. But when you give me Dante? Cut that shit out and give me some mooks to **** up.

So personally I was all about the PS2 as **** vibe about that game

I'm pretty sure Plat has games coming for PS4/BONE.

man i just cant get behind this game.

Everything about it just screams average to me.

Seems like the game has some cool ideas but none of them are going to be very fleshed out or integrated in meaningful ways.

I would be SHOCKED if it gets an 8/10 or higher. My bet is 7/10

For starters a lot of the fights seem one on one, or against 2 or 3 enemies at most.

PlatinumGames tends to be very chain combo happy versus DMC. DMC has some chain combos for its characters, but Nero n Dante have 3-5 max, the rest of the combo crafting is just you the player connecting different moves. Platinum has some command moves, but you are at the mercy of the more interesting moves that are at the tail end of their chain combos to actually make any sort of interesting crafty combos.

Plus it's Platinum I bet one of the stands has a slow mo dodge ability, I bet another stand lets me parry in a timely manner, and all that jazz. I'm sure it'll be fun for a few playthroughs, but I doubt it has the depth that comes with Devil May Cry, and I'm not expecting it to stack up favorably to the first Bayonetta or The Wonderful 101 in that department either.

It definitely has a slow mo dodge lol, but I bet it will be like other Platinum Games where you can play with it off. I actually like the chain combo style of Platinum Games. But I've come to appreciate the DMC style as well. I don't see any reason why there won't be as much depth to the game. It looks fantastic!! Looks like a mix between Bayonetta and Nier Automata. There's actually a world and story to explore. The Legions seem very promising. Here is a video with at least 5 enemies on screen.

First I’ve heard of this game. Looks interesting but the environments are boring. Still a good chance I’ll pick it up.

This game looks awesome. I’m really looking forward to getting it myself. The next couple of months is going to be crazy busy with games.
