[QUOTE="ArisShadows"] [QUOTE="excelR83"]1997-1998 was amazing, but so was 2007-2008... I guarantee in 10 years we will be making posts going OH GODDDDD remember COD4??! I sunk YEARS into that game... excelR83
Not really.. COD4 won't last as long as Baldurs Gate or Fallout 2 or any of the others. Those will probably be murmured still, the other probably not.
Yeah it will. COD is huge man. Fallout may be more epic and beloved by us, but COD4 is a monster, it's still hugely popular and won't change for a long time.
My point is I think people will look back in 10 years at Gears, Crysis, Halo 3, Metal Gear 4, Burnout, Grand Theft Auto 4, SMG, Brawl, Metroid, Oblivion, Company of Heroes, World in Conflict, even Resistance (yeah shut up a lot of us love it, call it a cult favorite) just as fondly as we look back on Final Fantasy 7, Tekken 3, Ocarina of Time, etc. We're just a lot more jaded and spoiled because of the wealth of good games that comes out every year.
A great deal of those games won't have the stopping power to stay in our minds, specially Call of Duty 4. Being a good game does not mean it will last in our hearts and mind like games I said. A good deal are good, but aren't as revolutionary, groundbreaking or memorable like 98's. Call of Duty will fade out by the next couple entries or next flashy similar game. Resistance is decent I guess, but has little staying power. Played, forgotten about, maybe occasional hiccup of its name. I guess a couple like maybe Super Mario Galaxy, MGS3 and persay CoH. There are alot of good games, some could be remembered but a good deal won't because alot of it been done before.
