I thougth it looked pretty good. Not fanboy "OMGBBQ SOGOOD IMAPEE!" good. But I thought it's looked solid.

I'm guessing they don't like the mix and match badge system and unique clan system.
Two things that have not been done on a console shooter (MP wise), they say "been there done that". Odd... I'm guessing they just played tha single player demo and didn't pay attention to the info on the unique multiplayer aspects.
It doesnt need to do anything new to be a fun game, and I think that's what it'll be, so no worries here.
BTW the multiplayer details they released ARE pretty new/different compared to many FPS today.
The clan 'money/points' system and being able to bet them is also a very cool and new feature.
Yeah, and IGN keeps going on about how much fun the game is, and how it keeps impressing...
oh dear god, who to believe?!
*cough*
Nah, seriously, the game looks good. Multiplayer has the potetntial to be great fun as well. I suppose we'll see for ourselves once it comes out..
So was Call of Duty 4, and that still stood out simply because of...

I think GG want to capture that hollywood-action feel successfully like COD4 and add a unique MP. If so everything will be gravy. Just like COD4!

Its exellent MP.
The SP? They shouldn't have bothered imo.
Well, I don't think anyone's played Killzone 2's MP yet. But it sounds interesting.I just hope they rebalanced the Grenade Launcher from Killzone 1 though. (>x_x)>

Solid? Thats not enough for a game thats had so much time, money and hype poured on it.
I gonna need more than solid.:P
Ya i agree. This game has been hyped to epic status. First shown at E3 2005.Generic grey shooter and sequel to one of the biggest flops in video game history, next. id rather play wii music
I've been a harsh critic of the game, but the multiplayer looks amazing. I'm still not impressed by the cookie cutter gameplay. I think that the game should have done more in it's design to distinguish itself from everybody else.
In case you guys don't realize, there is a lot of "everybody else" out there. The gritty shooter has been done to death.

Not only that. Garnet Lee has been pesimistic about KZ2 ever since he wrote his preview a couple of months ago. It's funny how he never mentioned if the A.I. is good or even if the game is fun or not to play. He only griped about simple things he doesn't like (some of them trivial).
While on the other hand, IGN is very optimistic and saying the game is fun. I don't know. I wanna see more up to date previews.

As a FPS, all it needs to do is look good. That is 90% of what SELLS FPS'. Other than graphics, FPS's have barely advanced beyond the first Doom game.
THANKS 1up!!!
I've been saying this for days now, and all the cows deny it.
I don't understand how with a team of their size they decided to just rip off the last best shooter (team fortress) and then cherry pick neat things from other games (battlefield).
That stuff will fly if it's in combination with OTHER unique interesting new additions of the genre. In that respect I see none.
Not to mention the scaleback of destructive environments, removal of dynamic interactive HDR lighting that reacted to consussive blasts, bullets, etc.
It sure looks polished, but a polished con / copy is still a polished con / copy imo. I'll check out the demo, but if it's like 1up says I think I'll stick with my battlefield and team fortress tyvm.

90% eh? another fallacy based argument or do you have a link for your maths?
and aside from that, no, just no. Drake's looked nice, not critically acclaimed. visuals do not sell games, apart from perhaps the least savvy / most impressionable consumers.

Notice how they are only talking about the single player. There is more to the game. Also,do yuo want to ignore IGN's article praising KZ2?
They didn't just rip off TF2. They adopted a system that is popular, works well, and made changes to it. This gives KZ2 it's own unique style.
What about the unique Clan System? You HAVe to give GG credit for that. It's very original.

I never said that graphics sell ALL games. I said graphics sells shooters. Drake's fortune was not sold or advertised as a shooter...if anything people thought it was "Dude raider".
Further, I fail to see what "critical acclaim" has to do with selling games OR visuals. Because Uncharted sold quite well over time. It just didn't have a huge opening.
But please, enlighten me. What DOES cause people to hype FPS if not graphics? If you think it is "innovation" then you are delusional.

PLus I think Garnett is a big Resistance fan. So he may be comparing Killzone to his love for Resistance 2. He's spoken about Resistance's online recently and how it blew him away.

IGN gave it a complete rub down with a happy ending.
No, i meant people expected something new in an FPS....at this point all i care about is if it plays good, graphics would be nice to :)
i agree with this guy, you get all these people moaning about "new" this and "new" that in fps, some of us only care about how FUN the game is, thats why UT3 on the 360 just became my favorite game on 360 over GEOW cos at the end of the day who cares if kz2 has anything new if It let's you shoot at things and you have fun doing it which is what first person shooters ate all about remember half life 2? just plain fun[QUOTE="3picuri3"][QUOTE="ZIMdoom"][QUOTE="Medic_B"]on the latest 1up podcast they mention how killzone has done nothing to stand out. i know that fanboys can write articles too, and the ign article was weak. it seemed like it was written by someone who loved it before they played it.. 1up is far more eloquent and actually gives a solid argument as to why it's more a 'been there done that' shooter.
clan system isn't original, it's similar to other systems used in PC shooters in the past. Tribes was similar. it's definitely not unique :)

Even Gears of War was originally hyped because of the graphics. But it turned out to be an amazing game of course.

you cease using hyperbole when you give an objective sum or figure, like a percentage. sorry, it's a fact ;).
Pedantic much? Jeez he was just throwing a ball park figure out there, maybe he went a little to high, but I agree with the crux of his argument.FPS are marketed with a high emphasis on their graphics, more so than any other genre. You can't deny that.

The coolest thing about the entire 1up video/audio group podcasts is that the group has TONS of personality. They are fun as hell to watch and listen to. You may not agree with them, but you are at the very least entertained. It's good stuff. Please Log In to post.
