Yup, 2004 was amazing for gaming and I agree with you, but take it easy tiger, no need to be that harsh XD

However, 2004 is not alone here, these are the best years for gaming so far: 1998, 2004, 2007 & 2017 (but this is like my personal opinion, you know).

2007 was a complete joke compared with 04.

Also I forgot to add Ninja Gaiden, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, Prince of Persia Warrior Within, Counter Strike Source, Killzone. Just complete gaming heaven.

I always run 2004 and 2005 together, best two year combo for me.

2005 had RE4, NGB, MGS3: Subsistence, DMC3, Chaos Theory, SotC, Civ4, and plenty of other goodies.

And yeah, 2004 had other good stuff like Katamari Damacy, TTYD, Hitman Contracts, Battlefield Vietnam, etc.

Halo 2- arguably the biggest Xbox game ever also brought online gaming to the consoles

MGS3 - GOAT

Splinter Cell Pandora Tommorrow- arguably the best stealth game ever

Underground 2- great sequel to a perfect racing game

forgot to add Burnout 3- greatest arcade racing game

San Andreas- one of the greatest games ever, easily the best GTA. The scale of that game back then was unimaginable

Pacific Assault- my favorite WW2 game

Depends on what you're into I guess. NGB, RE4, and Chaos Theory are all GOAT level games to me. Subsistence is up there for me too. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

But I'd take NGB, RE4, and Chaos Theory over any games released in 04.

Half Life 2 is better than 1, MGS3 is better than 1. It has Ocarina alright, but where is San Andreas lol?

BTW, 2007 wasn't (obviously) as good as 2004, but it doesn't mean it was a joke. Now, 2009 was a year full of (bad) jokes in gaming.

Chaos Theory is the worst Splinter Cell of the trilogy. NGB I havent played.

Burnout 3 was good, but to say it's the best arcade racing game that's foolish, and Underground 2 lol.

The only thing i'll give you some credit for is Splinter Cell, as for the rest well it's pretty meh imo.

Half Life 2 is great, the rest are meh. Pretty much every year seems to be a better year for gaming.

You forgot to add Kotor 2(Best western RPG of that generation) and Battlefront 1(Best tactical shooter game on consoles).

Tekken 5 Arcade version was also released that year.

Star Wars Galaxies also had a goat expansion that year.(Jump to light speed)

Yep. Even though I have only played the first and the third one, In my opinion the first SC game was a much better game compare to Chaos Theory.(Only comparing the single player since I haven't played coop and versus yet)

Not entirely sure, probably something in the 90' or when the Dreamcast was released, it wasn't 04 for me that's for sure as the only game that comes to mind for me is Rallisport challenge 2, but being a racing game people will shit on it but that's all good. And there's only one thing we can all agree on and that's we won't all agree on the same year.

1997 + 1998 + 1999 are my fav.

IDK, not many of the games on that list appeal to me. I always have trouble remembering what came out in what year, though - I rarely buy games at launch, and since I primarily game on PC I have a fuzzy sense for what games came with what "gen" as well. Maybe 2004 covered many of my favorites - but it doesn't seem right from your list

2004 was a great year, but i honestly think that gaming is getting better and better. AAA games look almost CGI level, indies brought back lots of classic genres and new ideas, more diversity than in the past, lots of sales every week and prices for all pockets, etc, etc...

Nostalgia as always is the typical suspect.

I'd if say if you blend 04 and 05 together that's easily the 2 best years I can think of . Nothing comes close.

Also wanna give some love to Ratchet UYA , Prince of Persia Warrior Within and 2 thrones, Midnight club 2 and 3, Burnout Revenge, NFS Most Wanted.

Probably say that (not sure exactly where to start) 2001/2/3 - 2007 was the best era of gaming with things going downhill since.

I spent hundreds of hours playing it on my og Xbox. 04-05 was my senior year of high school...i got fond memories of that time period...lol

Yup. 1996 was the best year for gaming. Consoles and PCs transitioned to 3d-acceleration and the graphics bottleneck was busted wide open. Graphics patches everywhere. PC tech was transitioning from AT to ATX. Wave Race 64 showed how fluid 3D-acceleration physics can be.
