Yeah 2004 was pretty awesome... but 2007 would be close.

It also had Dragonball Z Budokai 3, so yeah it was a pretty good year.

...I've counted two years together in some cases due to the delays between JP/NA/PAL releases back in those days.

I would say 1996 was THEY KEY year for 3D acceleration as this was the year that 3DFX released their Voodoo graphics card which raised the performance and graphics bar which forced ATI and nVidia to level up their GPU performance (along with all the early 3D graphic card competitors). Tomb Raider and Quake were re-done running on 3D accelerated graphics thus set the beginning of the Graphics revolution. Once you played games with 3D Acceleration there was no going back.

Simply an amazing year.

UO created the MMO genre. Unless you count MUDs I guess.

Everquest improved on it and addicted nearly half a million subscribers at it's peak.

Vanilla WoW perfected it.

And since then, the MMO genre as a whole has pretty much stagnated.

I kind of agree.. the big guns were def Metroid Prime 2, MGS 3, Halo 2, GTA, Half-Life and WoW.
