As the Wii dominates in hardware sales, so it also dominates in software, with an estimated 38 million units of software in the first 10 months of the year. In other words, Nintendo has sold over 2.5 times as much Wii software this year as it did during the same period in 2007.

"I actually think that given the number of comments made from industry executives at E3 (or thereabouts) about how they didn't put enough resources against development of Wii games that the industry has realized that the old adage of 'only first-party games sell on Nintendo systems' is absolutely incorrect. I think you're right that the data will cause a few eyebrows to lift." - NPD industry analyst Anita Frazier

Wouldn't you expect the Wii to sell more with more consoles having been sold and games being much cheaper?

Nobody is contesting that the Wii is a sales machine.

People ARE saying it has a very low quality of games. Anytime anyone brings up the fact that the Wii is in a serious quality slump a Nintendo fanboy will ramble on and on about sales, even though no one was talking about them.

No one disputes the Wii sells the most. They say it has the worst library.

It's probably because of the Game Party/Cruisin' bundle at Gamestop. It's a fifty-dollar value! Slam dunk, baby!

This is where the makebelieve world or System Wars and the Real World run into problems. In the real world, most people would say that the games that are selling the most must be the best because that's what people are buying and enjoying. In SW, we just go "Wii has the worst reviewed games therefore it's the worst"

In reality, the fact that the Wii is selling so much software must mean that it is providing something to those that choose to buy it. The fact of the matter is, the Wii offers many games that the 360 and PS3 don't, as well as a bigger variety in genres outside of the big gaming areas of shooters, sports, and racers. Different does not = worse.

I'm sorry that you found your purchase lacking. Might I suggest researching them in the future becasue the fact that you choose not to buy any Wii games this year doesn not mean that quality Wii games did not come out. NMH, Endless Ocean, SSBB, MKWii, RRR: TV Party, Animal Crossings, Boom Blox, de Blob are all great games. I understand if they are not for you, but that really has little to do with the overall quality of the Wii's library.

The fact that half your games are A's (and de blob 8.0) tells me its not exactly a stellar list, but each to his own.

So in the real world 50 Cent Bulletproof was one of the best games of previous generation?

The truth is a huge portion of the Wii's demographic are "non-gamers" (people who didn't play games prior to the release of the Wii. They are highly swayed by marketing. In reality, they sell despite their poor quality, not because of it.

There's a reason so many Wii games are reviewed so poorly. Or, you can just continue to ignore it.

what marketing? i dont know about you all, but i havent seen a new wii system commercial in months. meanwhile, i see one of those creepy 360 ads with the people with holes in their heads or a ps3 ad every other day. and the game commercials? the only ones ive seen lately are for.....that star wars lightsaber game and carnival games minigolf. out of all the games on the wii, only a handful really get commercials, half of which dont even sell that well.

Who said being popular automatically equates to a lack of quality?

Beatles, popular, good. yep. Jonas Brothers, very popular, very bad.

The Wii has so many poor games that are big sellers, a few of them are both great and good sellers (Galaxy, etc.)

The Wii simply has a lower quality library. This generation has made it perfectly clear that non-gamers will be almost anything given the proper marketing.

I don't stay with what current most people do not. Recent movie Transformers, Spider-Ma, Batman and Iron Man have all been big movies. All of which are great movies.

Poor does not mean "A game I don't like and therefore think is bad." No one has yet to provide evidence of a truely poor= i.e. broken game, on the Wii that has sold rediculously well. My personal take on thereviews of Wii games on this site particularly it that they don't match my expectations or experiences when I play the games.

So you pick out one thing out of my list and say it was not good. Then say I have bad taste. I am sure many people here would agree that Transformers was a good movie also.

They say it has the worst library.

i would say transformers is a good movie. i would say this, that is, if i could tell what was going on half of the time. they really screwed up with the design of the robots. whenever they had fight scenes, if the characters werent optimus prime or bumblebee, it just looked like a bunch of huge gray metal blobs going at it. and some of the characters were a bit pointless, like the army guys. they didnt need to have as much dialogue as they did. anywho, im not going to be a movie nazi about it though.

I love how you try to narrow down things to fit your point of view. I am too old to care about what is big now. When I was in high school Korn, Metallica, Guns and Rose and MegaDeath were big. I don't stay with what current most people do not. Recent movie Transformers, Spider-Ma, Batman and Iron Man have all been big movies. All of which are great movies.

Transformers was a great movie?

Maybe you just have bad taste afterall...

So you pick out one thing out of my list and say it was not good. Then say I have bad taste. I am sure many people here would agree that Transformers was a good movie also.

That whole list is pretty lukewarm when you have so many movies to chose from to define what a great movie is. Do you watch any non superhero movies?

[QUOTE="Kratos_OMEGA"]Now compare 3rd party sales....FirstDiscovery

Seriously, this has been debunked countlesss times

How was it debunked?  How can you debunk facts?  So because it was the first 19 months it means that those sales don't count?

it does not count to those that dont know how to read a chart because they think it trys to "trick" people in to thinking the 360 has been out as long as the other systems

i was in that so called debunked thread where thats all that was going all people that did not know how to read a chart

What people don't realize that charts that show total preformance aren't that meaningful.  It's the ones like this, that show how things preformed in a comparable time period.

This thread is quite useful for people like -Mad_Rhetoric-. It would prevent posts such as the following:

how is that surprising, 3rd party software sells terribly in wii

the 360 sells the most software

i think the 360 has more total sales but that gap is closing quick and where big games like gears 2 will sell and that helps the volume of niche titles that sell good but not crazy more then keeps that gap closing. some time in early 09 i think the wii will have both the most software sold and close to the most third party

i dont know why any one would make a game for the ps3 where it cost the most and will sell the least but i guess thats why business go under.. for being bad at their jobs

here is the probable source of the perception problem of wii sales

most of the wii games sell on the lower chart no.s and not in the top 10..

that means the titles sell slower.. but not necessarily less because the 360 or PS3 software usually dissapears from the top 10 after 1 month
