2010 is fast approaching and the third Xbox will launch, what do people expect

Xbox 2001-2005 four years and then dropped like a ton of bricks.

Xbox 360 2005- 2010 and continuing for a while I hope.

3rd Xbox aug-nov 2010- ???

I remember people saying in 2003 that it was too soon for any talk about Xbox2 and Xbox was better than PS2(true enough) and MS would hold and gain more sales with a better console. ( I agreed) But that did not happen! Even thougth the Xbox was more powerful, the xbox was drooped! Xbox 360 was launched in a hurry. Still xbox 360 sold okay but more importanly it heald off PS3 from becoming a sales machine. (WHY did MS join the console games to begin with??)

anyway, Xbox has sold worse than Xbox did in its first 3 years, and not even close to PS2 did!!! PS3 is starting to improve with newer games while Xbox 360 games have not improved as much given the extra time developers have had, and the ease of programing that Xbox has!!! BluRay has started to grow and Sony has Home coming out, as well as PC/Xbox copied online functions!!!

MS. cares less if it destroys the gaming industry!!!! MS does not make its living from selling games or consoles. MS only got into making consoles to stop Sony from making a PC type console that takes over the living room and connect with younger users. Also, coming out in 5 years is the "norm" and lots of people will get excited again, and line up to buy next gen even if again its just updated graphics, and slightly increased functions, maybe some motion device??? but enough people will buy it to detract from Sony which is the main point!!

Sounds highly highly unlikely. Anyway one thing the next gen consoles should have is a robotic arm that heats food on the heatsink, then feeds it to me. Awesome.

um... fanboy???? what I said was true. I own an xbox and continue to play its games... Infact i own 2 xbox and 2 PS2s so I have my own TV to race and shoot my wife friends =^).

I havent got a PS3 or Xbox 360. Although, I may get a PS3 next year for a few games that I want after a price drop of both console and games (greatest hits). The games are not that much better to me than Xbox games. Halo 3 is not soooo much better than Halo2!!

geez man do people not realize MS lost money on every xbox sold throughout the entire gen. that is not the case this gen. Also they even said the 360 will last much longer. I give it 6-7 years.too_much_eslim

I just don't know ... I want something totally different that says NEXT GEN!!!!!

Untill then my Xbox, PS2 and Wii (including retro games) will keep me busy. which is good enough and I save money to go places like snowboarding, surfing, and mountain biking as well as other hobbies.

Think about this

Original Xbox launched 2 years after PS2, it sold on its techical superiority over the PS2

Xbox 360 launched a year b4 PS3, aimed to grab platform titles rather than out do PS3 in hardware

Now Sony is going to rush PS4 release date b4 xbox 3 and grab more titles. So microsoft's next strategy will be to again beef up on hardware and release its console at a later date

You can count on a true next gen xbox 3 that will have a long development cycle and releases later than the PS4.

Im thinking late 2011.

If someone told me in 2003 that MS was going to launch a new console in 2005 I would have said the same thing, in fact many people thougt that MS would launch in 2006 a five year cycle or at the same time as PS3. that was the prevaling wisdom back then but it did not happen! ??? We will see either next year at the end of 2009 or sometime in 2010!

2010 the earliest, and 2011 probably for the sucessor for the 360 although i could see it having a long lifeand maybe going into 2012. becuase tbh nobody really had a 360until 06 because of the shortage.
