Hey everybody. Just got to playing Sakura Wars (awesome game!). However it doesn't help matters that in the month of May alone, I am getting the followinggames:Red Dead Redemption, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Trauma Team, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

It's even more sad that I can't finish the back catalogue of titles that I got back in January let alone collect titles I want to collect (Resonance of Fate is a good example). This is the only year I have felt that for once, I might not be able to keep up with every game. Hence, in my humble opinion, this could quite possibly bethe year of cluster quality titles.

What do you think? Was there a year with this over abundance of great titles?

1998. 1080 Snowboarding, Baldur's Gate, Banjo Kazooie, Fallout 2, Gran Turismo, Grim Fandango, Half Life, Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon Red and Blue, Resident Evil 2, Rogue Squadron, Starcraft, Thief, Unreal 1, Soulcalibur, Rainbow 6 and Tekken 3, just to name a few. Seriously, I doubt we'll reach the heights of 1998 ever again.

Most of those games you mentioned don't have multiplayer, so although they were awesome by 1998's standards, I think the current market would have a different opinion to those games. I bet some people would say 2009 was the best simply due to MW2 and some other great games.

Of those, I only cared about Half-Life and Grim Fandango, but those are two of my favorite games ever.

Some people would say 2009 just because they have short memories. MW2 will be forgotten before long anyways.

I think 2004 might've been the biggest year.

True. MW2 might be big for now, but I doubt it will carry much nostalgia in the years to come. But apart from that, I guess other games will definately have nostalgia. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden etc.

Fun online multiplayer has its place in history, but a strong single-player/campaign is really what establishes itself in people's minds. I think it's because people have a shared similar experience from the single player experience, but online multiplayer experiences can vary wildly.

I agree. Games like Final Fantasy 7 have tons of nostalgia, and it it fun to share your thoughts and experiences of those games. Since all other FF7 fans have seen the exact same cutscenes I have seen, it is easier to talk to them about it and pick out which scenes I loved best. As for multiplayer games, it feels different when talking to other people because they have played the game a differnet way than you, and met different people online etc.

That's always my favorite way to get a console. Wait until there's a large backlog and then you'll never be hurting for something to play. I just got a PS3 two months ago, so I'm set for a long time. And I've still got a Wii and a PC.

Yeah, this year is abit much even for me. I've already spend a good $3,000 on games so far and it's looking like I'll set a new record for myself by the end.
