I think PS3 will be the vast minority of those, maybe a few million
Poeple that want a BR player, will generally never buy a game console
aliasfreak
things are changing. ps3 bluray is top of the line player. it is future proof thru firmware, so it will never get outdated in technology
As for those that look for cheap player, there are cheaper ones out there
Of course some will buy, just not many IMO
This is what I have been saying as well. Heck, he (the TC) still hasn't addressed the point that he was wrong in saying that the PS3 is the cheapest player. The price of the stand-alone players has been dropping faster than the price of the PS3, so if the trend continues, the difference between a stand-alone player and a PS3 will continue to increase.
Edit: Honestly, I don't even know why people are buying BR players. I have a Samsung 1080p upconverter which you can buy for $80 at Circuit City (probably cheaper elsewhere) and the picture looks beautiful. I haven't looked at it side-by-side with HD programs from my Xbox 360, but the difference in picture quality is negligible as far as I can tell.
Exactly, there are already cheaper players, and now that BR is mainstream the player prices will drop drastically, unlike PS3 price
Also PS3 used as a BR player is totally incopatible IMO
If you buy a PS3 as a gaming console, you will never use it for movies, because your BR drive will die faster
On the other hand, if you do not intent to play games, why buy PS3 and not a cheaper BR player ?
