Mine are:
3. Hyrule Field (Ocarina of Time)
2. Rapture
1. Liberty City (GTAIV version of course)
What are your choices?
BTW, I wish I could put more options in the poll.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
1. the jungles of MGS3, an enviorment that was beautiful, detailed, and functional, which I wish would be recreated on a greater scale with this current generation of consoles. no such luck though.
2. Highway 17 from Half-life 2, a bleak and eerie enviorment, with some optional stop-overs and fun set-pieces.
Am I the only one who doesnt like rapture? I mean half way though bioshock 1 I was just completely and utterly sick of it. And even more so in bioshock 2 I dont even wanna be in the same room when my brother plays it im just so done with it
1. Re Mansion
2.Deck 16 (UT has to possibly be the best designed map in the history of games)
3.Vice City
I agree, the ME universe is actually believable (Besides the Reapers)My favorite is probably the combined universe of Mass Effect.

1. Liberty City (GTA IV). It was very real feeling and fun to mess around in.
2. Black Mesa (Half-Life). I know people always give it to HL2 and City 17 for its dystopic feel, but BM was a harrowing and dark place to explore. Coupled with the death and aliens everywhere, I really felt for my survival.
3. The USG Ishimura (Dead Space). Pretty damn freaky. Thats all I can say.
1) STALKER: outdoors;Brutal dark, damp and unforgiving, it is an envioment, that will kill you by itself if it has to, no enemies needed. It is moody, but also oddly enought one of the envioments that felt most alive.
2) Syndicate: Urban areas; Dark cyberpunk urban envioments, soulless, cold, nobody would ever care about anyone, An invioment I always loved, be it in animes games, or books.
3) Shadow of the Colossus (any envioment in that game really); green, beautiful, but somehow void of life, lonely isolated despite being open, remarkable feat to pull off when you think about it.
easily Rapture imo
i'd say it's the best video game location of the last decade
88mphSlayer
Yup. Rapture is Badass. It'a like Atlantis on drugs in the 50's gone to ****.
Mgs 3s jungle was the best ever imoSolid_Tango
have to agree, super epic and not over shadowed by anything I've seen this gen regardless of the gfx upgrade of the current gen consoles
My favorite is probably the combined universe of Mass Effect.
I agree, the ME universe is actually believable (Besides the Reapers)I, too agree. I'd also like to add Phenandra Drifts, Ravenholm, Core (Crysis), and some other stuff that at the moment I cannot recall.I'm into elemental environments (Lava, Ice, Water etc.)
Naturally, I like Metroid, Mario, Zelda environments. Also I like futuristic metallic / glass environments such as the first area in Prime 3.
I don't like dark themes (Horror games), old fashioned (Bioshock, although the atmosphere is cool)
The Blade Runner Lite world of Nomad Soul, the world of Deus Ex, The Star Light Zone, Granseal, all notable.
But just Rapture.
i would say vice city because the 80s theme in that game was done great and then san andreas because the 90s theme in that game was also done great but also i would have to say demons souls
