Hyrule Field but I also enjoyed tearing around Nippon and the other environments in Okami. The only game I've played where the pop seemed nearly necessary.

Something in World of Warcraft. In Azeroth: either Dun Morogh, Winterspring, Burning Steppes, Elwynn Forest, or Tirisfal Glades. Outland: Nagrand. Northrend: Storm Peaks. WoW has really awesome environments, and the music and atmosphere in each zone really gives off an immersive experience.

No particular order.

- Rapture (Bioshock. Obvious choice)

- Ishimura (Dead Space. Creepy)

- WoW: Zangarmarsh

Honorable mentions are WoW: Durotar, Barrens, Ashenvale, Feralas, Ungoro Crater, Darkwood, Stranglethorn Vale, Grizzly Hills & Sholozar Basin. Especially with some mellow music, used to relax me after school/work just killing time in those places.

Fatal Frame 2 wasn't four hours long.... was it? :?

It took me around 13 hours to beat it. But I was lost occasionally, so technically it could be under 4 hours. :(

Balamb Garden from Final Fantasy VIII. It was a school and really felt like it. Complete with a cafeteria, library, training area, your own room etc etc. Words can't describe how campy this place felt. And an excellent theme song that matched it perfectly to boot. Oh did I mention the thing can fly?

Haha no, I meant to say you can beat it in 4 hours if you knew where everything was. I spent few hours throughout the game trying to figure out things.

out of the choices id have to pick rapture because none of the others offer a more intense, varied display of insanity, art, and dark forboding sense of death.

Fallout 3: The Wasteland was extremely impressive and just how bleak everything was. When you first get a good look at it when you escape the Vault is unforgettable. Then when you are wandering around there is always something off in the distance I was wanting to go and check out, plus everything you run into, from cannibals to mutants to slavers to random little towns and so much more. Bethesda outdid themselves on that one.

My favorite is probably the combined universe of Mass Effect.

psn8214

this for sure.

Rapture is also really immersive.

Uncharted 2's Tibet scenes were just jaw dropping.

Resistance 2 mission where your going through suburbia (that part always gets me... just wow.... creepy and cool)

Renaissance Italy in Assassin's Creed 2

Arkham Asylum in Batman Arkham

Capitol Wasteland in Fallout 3

those come to mind of worlds you can go through and i just lose myself in them.

even more so THEN games with game mechanics that i like (Super Mario World and Final Fantasy 13 for example...)

I always thought Hyrule field was kinda bland to be honest..Especially in OoT and TP. Just a whole bunch of nothing. I think the different locations beyond Hyrule field are better like the Zora realm, goron valley, Gerudo dessert.. stuff like that.

If I had to do a top 5 it would be

1.TallonIV: It is excellent to see that all the detail and amazing attention to detail in this world. It sucks you in.

2.Hyrule Field:From Ocarina of Time it feels like the world has been brought to life and it showed beautifully in this game every character had a personality.

3.Shadow Moses: Come the first time playing Metal Gear Solid you can't argue at its brilliance and you go back there in number 4.

4.Racoon City: Resident Evil 2 and 3 were incredible games you just blew zombies up and weird creatures attacking you and when Nemesis was on your tail too.

5.Mushroom Kingdom: It wouldn't be complete without the Mushroom Kingdom but it is magical like the series and shows off its charm like most 2D and 3D Mario titles and even in the Mario Kart games

Oooh, this should be a fun thread.

There are so many. Hyrule field, awesome. Same goes to Liberty City and Shadow Moses Island.

Also, wherever Resident Evil 4 is set.
