Ok, I had a quick look through the 2008 Xbox 360 library, and like 2007's, it's full of quality, in exclusives and multi-plats.
Because they are so important, I'll start with exclusives:
Tom Clancy Air Combat.
- Coming next year and the first in a new series of Tom Clancy based titles. Not much is known, except that it is exclusive to Xbox 360 (only been announced for Xbox 360 so far) and is being developed by Ubisoft Romania, who did Blazing Angels and Silent Hunter 4. Could be a surprise sleeper hit.
Mobile Suit Ops: The One Year War.
- Tagged as an exclusive and for 2008, I don't see this one being huge stateside, but it should be a big game for eastern audiences. Yes, it appears that the Xbox demographic evidenced by the original console has been widening considerably, if a game such as this would choose to go with the 360 only.
Galactic Command: Excalibur
- Another title out of left field which has decided to only go with 360, this is a space combat simulator and is being made by the guys behind the Universal Combat titles.
Rogue Warrior
-Yet another 360 exclusive, and again not from MS themselves. This one comes from Bethesda, the guys behind Oblivion, and also by Zombie, who are known for the Red Ops games. It's a realistic military shooter title.
Halo Wars-It's a Halo game but it's not. It's an RTS set in the Halo universe and it's being developed by the team behind Age of Empires exclusively for the 360. It so far looks really good.
Ninja Gaiden 2.
-The first game was a GOTY contender, and the remake a year later was even better. The true sequel is finally coming, and it's exclusive.
Culdcept Saga.
-A board game that looks really good, exclusive to the Xbox 360 and also coming out in 2008 fir U.S audiences.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction.
- The latest Tom Clancy game, which is by the team that did Chaos Theory, the best in the series. Introduces brand new play mechanics and the first game built up for "next-generation. And only on Xbox 360.
Too Human
-By a legendary development team, this is a game almost 10 years in the planning. This is the first in a planned trilogy, and it looks fantastic. And only on Xbox 360 in 08.
Lost Odyssey.
-The second of 2 RPG's from Mistwalker, the new Japanese team created by some of the most legendary developers around. A more adult RPG than Blue Dragon, this is one of the most wanted RPG's around, and only on XBox 360 in 08.
Fable 2.
-The sequel to a million selling title, 2 years + of work and exclusivity with Microsoft means a lot is being thrown into this title to make it as grand as possible. It looks excellent so far.
Cry On.
-Not given a release fate yet, so 2008 is likely, but hasn't been confirmed. An action RPG, this is being developed in partnership between Mistwalker (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey), and AQ Interactive (Bullet Witch, Mark Ecko's Getting Up).
Dead or Alive: Code Cronus.
-Not much is known, or even when it will hit, but it is being developed by Team Ninja. Possibly by the team that have now completed Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Code Cronus is being billed as a fighting title, but not exactly Dead or Alive 5.
Alan Wake.
-Made by the team behind the Max Payne titles, Alan Wake is a noir David Fincher style horror adventue, and looks much like Twin Peaks meets Silent Hill. It looks great, it apparently plays well, and is a key title for Microsoft. And its only on Xbox 360 in 08.
Far East of Eden Ziria.
Very little is known about this title, long in development by Hudson. It's announced only on Xbox 360 and is due.... sometime. It's an RPG.
Magna Carta 2.
The sequel to the overlooked but rather good Magna Carta, numero 2 comes only to Xbox 360. Been a while since an update has occured, but is still in development apparently.
Banjo Kazooie 3.
Being made by Rare ground up for 360 development. Forget the woes of the original Rare from Xbox, Xbox 360 development has been nigh on perfect for them, with 4 quality games all out. This is the big title from them for next year.
Dead or Alive 5.
-Didn't see this happening? It's been over 2 years since DOA4, 3 years by the time this one's out. The DOA series has always been solid, and this looks to continue the tradition.
----
I'll stop here.
But this is just the exclusive titles. Most of the major titles are still hitting Xbox360, such as Rock Band, GTA 4, Assassin's Creed and others.
And MS still haven't unleashed everything for this holiday yet. PGR4, Mass Effect, Naruto, Viva Pinata: Party Animals - and those are just the exclusives. Not to mention Halo 3 just came out as well. Don't forget all the cross-platform titles too!
They're really hitting their stride with the Arcade as well - next year sees Rez HD, Exit, HoopWorld, Castle Crashers and more - all exclusive to the Arcade.
Being a 360 owner is a great option now - there are so many games to play, and to play in the coming year at the very least.
