It doesn't matter that most of the Wii software consist of poo , casual Wii fans love it and they made great money out of it , business wise is was the perfect decision so who is to argue ?

Also its fun to see hardcore Nintendo fans neglecting the PS3 and 360 , clinging on that machine for dear life and getting avalanched in casual turds .

doesnt that include wii sports?

im sure the 360 has, and always has had the highest attach rate of any console

Thebettertwin
Yeah if that includes Wii sports then it isn't the fairest comparison. Still more Wii software sold than I imagined.

Does anybody read any of the posts in this thread? It's been stated numerous times now that Wii Sports is not included in the Wii's software sales, despite what fanboys like DeadMagazines and treedoor try to say.

Look at the bright side Wii and the 360 are both kicking the you know what out of the PS3 in software sales. So more proof that the PS3 owners in general are the least hardcore and mostly just blu-ray movie watchers.

I would personally be more impressed if games like Boom Blox, Okami, Zack & Wiki, Madworld, World of Goo, de Blob, etc were the ones at the top of the sales instead of the Wii ____ series of games, but whatever. I guess it's expected to me. The Wii has more than twice the units as the 360, so I would have expected more software sales, TBH.

Actually, if you do the math, the PS3 has the best ratio of owners to software, with the Wii second and the 360 third.

Going by attach rate the 360 has the highest. The most recent article I could find is Dec 08 where the 360 has 8.1 attach rate. link

Using your OP data, the PS3 sells about 1.9 games per month per owner. The Wii sells about 1.6 games per month per owner, and the 360 sells about 1.5 games per month per owner. Not going by attach rates or anything, just using your numbers provided in OP.

I will take your word for it since i am to lazy to do the math. Does not seem right though just taking in the Wii and 360 for example. Wii has sold more consoles in america but same amount of software. The attach rate would have to be lower then.Going by VG Charts(best I have) the Wii sold 6 million more consoles in America then 360.

and what will that prove?

treedoor

Well sheep are saying their software sells better, but if they listed their top 10-15 you'd see it's stuff like Wii Fit, which is why no one's posted it yet.

Wii Sports 45.71 million (That's a given)

Wii Play 22.98 million

Wii Fit 18.22 million

Mario Kart Wii 15.4 million

Super Smash Bros Brawl 8.43 million

Super Mario Galaxy 8.02 million

Mario Party 8 6.72 million

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 4.52 million

Link's Crossbow Training 3.76 million

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games 3.4 million

Thank you sir, pretty much as I figured. Sonic mini game collection, another Mario Party, Crossbow Training, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii Sports..expected.

If you are allowed to cut out the number of wii fits sold out of the wii software sales can I cut out the number of copies of Halo out of the total Xbox software sales?

What I find silly is that a lot of people are saying what a great feat this is for the Xbox 360 because it is matching the software sale of the Wii despite the Wii having a lot more sales. They seem to totally forget that the fact that the Wii even has so many more sales than the Xbox 360 is a feat in itself. The Xbox 360 had a whole year alone on the market while the Wii was up against the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. To think that the Wii managed to outsell the Xbox 360 and sell a similar amount of software in far less time is the true feat here.

Hexagon_777

Yes... but what I find silly is that a lot of people are denying how great a thing this is for the 360, considering it is still matching the Wii's software sales with a much smaller install base... which means it has a much higher attachment rate. The true feat here is that the 360 can still go head-to-head with a console with a much larger userbase. Plus, many of the Wii's games are exclusive, while the 360 has a ton of multiplatform titles. So the Wii is only competing with itself, yet the 360 is competing with the PS3 and PC. That is something to write home about.

The extra year means nothing. This has everything to do with attachment rate... which the 360 seems to have more of.

It's odd how people attempt to discredit this feat by saying that the Wii has a little under double the total sales of the 360 when that is a feat itself as well.

Obviously the advantage the 360 had didn't mean much either, considering it can sell as much software as the Wii can with a lot less units in the hands of the consumer.

the 360's library is the biggest out of all 3... so of course its attach rate will be higher. thats a given

since these numbers are only for NA, i wonder how much more software the Wii has sold WW compared to the 360

Of course? How so of course? Size of library doesn't mean anything by itself. You have to actually sell s/w units. Size of library could just as well mean more crap that doesn't sell. Mathematically, size of library is not in the attach rate equation.....so I don't see how this can be 'of course' or 'a given'.

more games, more options

the average consumer will buy more games for their console if they have more choices. isnt that obvious?

too bad the majority of good games on 360 (or games that interest consumers) just so happen to be more-of-the-same shooters and games like GTA.

24 of the 29 360 games (disc and XBLA) I own are NOT shooters. And only two of them are straight-up FPS's. This is a massive misconception about the 360. Out of all three consoles, it has the largest variety of games from all genres. The only reason people like you think its "only shooters" is because you haven't spent the time looking into the whole library and only pay attention to the popular titles, which just happen to be shooters.
