Don't get me wrong the PS3 controller is basically the same as the Duel Shock that came out mid life span of PS1 and all of PS2. And was voted good for it's time.

But now in comparison all but for fighting games because of the D-pad In general the PS3 controller is OWNED hard by the 360 controller. Pretty much all games feel better when playing on the 360 controller. The 360 analog sticks have a far better layout and the sensitivity and firmness of them are far better then the loose flimsy feeling PS3 analog sticks. And matter of fact not to be picky but it is true the 360 controller just feels better in your hand and more sturdy.

I mean I think just about all game mags voted 360 controller best also.

I agree in terms of shooters, and most other genres, save fighters, but who uses controllers competitively? The PS3 controller feels so small in my hands, and god help me if I want to accurately aim with it. However, I do realize you are mostly bias on this issue :P

Shooters NO WAY if you could hook a 360 controller to a PS3 and play online COD4 on PSN your kill count will increase way more over other PS3 controller users. Just no it is no way better in shooters then the 360 controller not even close to a discussion. Now maybe you are used to it but after you play with the 360 controller I promise you your shooter kill count will go up for sure.

I'm sorry, but SC 4 really isn't considered a TRUE competitive fighter. with SF 4, a fighting stick is ESSENTIAL for your success.

Its competitive, but its just not a fun game, not anymore at least since all of them are same.

I'm not defending soul calibur or anything since I don't even like it, but I'm just bringing it up.

One thing I do kind of hate is the PS3 vibration function seems inconsistent. Sometimes it feels to soft? IDNO 360 vibration just gives a better UMMPFF when it's supposed to.

But I guess at least Sony finally added it back I was a Japan importer myself just so I could play Uncharted one on released with the much needed vibration.

Gamecube>>>> (ps3, 360) :)

360 one is more comfortable than ps3's. but if you get used to ps3, then you might think 360 is bad. It depends on the person. And you also have to consider that ps3 has six axis, a key feature that 360 doesnt have.

Other way around buddy. If your argument is against DS it should be on the lines of 'the genetically superior son' or something.

Is that honestly something you can brag about :? I high KDR in COD 4 or 5 usually means 2 things you snipe and camp in the back with no intent on teamwork or the game is so easy, you can breeze through matches with a 2.0 KDR or higher, it's usually the latter, for me anyway :P

Anybody can make claims, it doesn't make it true. Controller preference is based on the individual, can we stop with these types of threads?

See and not using AA batteries is actually a drawback because i can swap out my rechargeables for an instantly fully recharged controller. You have to plug in you rocntroller and wait unless you are polaying near a usb slot close bye. So that actually knocks off two of your points as to why ps3 controller is better. As for better wireless tech, its not better its just newer. Infact both controllers response times are exactly the same, so yet another one of your facts demystified. 360 controller is more confortable, feels sturdier, has triggers, better analog sticks (granted worse Dpad i'll give you that one). Plus swapable batteries. 360 controller has more good than bad, so its better IMO, since this is my personal preference.

Yeah, you're right. Spending extra money to attain what PS3 owners get for free is such a better deal. The USB charge and play is not only the better option, but an excellent bonus that you have to pay for as a 360 owner. For the money you spend on all that 'extra' crap, I could buy another PS3 controller and completely trump your logic altogether. For the same price, function and purpose I get a whole extra controller, and you get a few battery packs and a recharge station. Grats. If you call that winning.

I have played with a 360 controller ever since it was the original Sidewinder on the PC. I still prefer the DS1/2/3 controller(s) in every possible scenario. Especially shooters.

Especially shooters.

good post. His spin was so great that i didnt even bother with it. You win

I'm so used to the Dualshock that i find it comfortable for all types of games.. But 360's controller is great except for the D-Pad (which isnt that bad either)...

I think its a tie between these 2 controllers..

and the x360 is basically a dual shock 1 with the sticks flipped around and some nice triggers? ps3/x360 controller are both great, some like one better some like the other better. ps3 has better dpad and face buttons, x360 has better shape and triggers. it's your choice.

Well, imo i think the ps3 controller is better for everthing even shooters.. Iam used to the controller more...

Pimp_Dog09

Shooters NO WAY if you could hook a 360 controller to a PS3 and play online COD4 on PSN your kill count will increase way more over other PS3 controller users. Just no it is no way better in shooters then the 360 controller not even close to a discussion. Now maybe you are used to it but after you play with the 360 controller I promise you your shooter kill count will go up for sure.

the 360 is not really any different even for shooters, the ps3 sticks feel much better and aren't so slippery. x360 is better for racing with the great triggers. the fact the xbox controller has be come more and more like the dual shock mean the dual shock is one of the best designs, also why do so many pc controllers copy the dual shock design? the only thing that makes the 360 controller feel better is the longer hand grips the rest is basically identical. Even the button placement, stick/dpad positions are, identical, when you compared them side by side you realize just how much the x360 controller has become like the ps controller. ms really needs to fix that terrible battery pack position, it really feels in the way after you have used a ps3 controller for awhile.

360 is more comfortable, better for most games except for fighting games. That's just my opinion but coming from PS2 controller to 360 was amazing.

I find that there is no difference between the two. Both have their ups and downs.aaronmullan

Maybe for shooters but I think the PS3 dpad is far superior to the 360's. I play beat 'em ups more than shooters so its better for me :P

I don't think there's anything between them. I love them all (Wiimote and KBAM! included).

I find there's very little difference.

I'll give my nod to the 360 controller but it's nothing I'd base my console choice on.

mostly no difference but lately i have noticed that the dualshock is harder on my hands, after playing fat princess this week my hands and wrists were sore. i think the dualshock controller has this really terrible design flaw in relation to the angle you keep your wrists.

test it and see what i'm talking about, hold both controllers and look at how your wrists are bent.... terrible flaw built right into the sony controller and not corrected since the ps1 days

i think the ps3 controller is better for racing games mainly due to the analogue buttons which allow you to gradually put on the gas and brake. i'm not a fan of using triggers to move a car.
