http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/23/rumor-discount-xbox-360-elite-halo-3-bundle-coming-to-canada/#continued

"Another day, another Xbox 360 Elite price cut rumor. This time, said gossip comes to us in the form of a tipster (who wishes to remain anonymous), whose unnamed Canadian retail outlet is adding a new SKU to its store shelves -- a $349.99 Xbox 360 Elite bundle which includes a copy of Halo 3 and a network adapter. Considering both of those items still carry fairly heftyprice tags, that's one heck of a deal.

Said tipster sent in four photos (the others are posted after the jump) and a supposed street date for the Canadian bundle -- August 28. Another interesting bit of info: The tipster also claimed that a new shipment of Xbox 360 Arcades carry no mention of the supposedly-soon-to-be-phased-out Pro model. If you're a Canadian retail employee who can shed some light onto the veracity of this new bundle, -- and as always, we'll respect your anonymity. We'll also respect your anemones. And your enmity!"

Yeah, a warranty sure makes up for selling a product that has a well documented flaw, as opposed to reworking the system to fix the issues.

That's a pretty good deal. Those network adapters are expensive. Luckily I found one used at Gamestop for only $60. :D

It does come with component cables, just not HDMI cable anymore. You can still do HD with the 360 out of the box, unlike the ps3.

Im honestly amazed that MS will try to push more of halo 3. The network adapter move is very very smart on MS though and very good for people who don't own one yet. But in all honestly i'd package the system with ODST. I honestly think that would move a TON of consoles

Better than forcing a firmware update that bricks my system and them making ME pay $149 to get it fixed, or has that been forgotten?

I think there's still a chance of an ODST bundle in America with the wifi adapter.

They have been fixing the problems like the other person already pointed out they lost over a billion by extending the warrenty. Also they have improved the chipset a few times.

I think this strategy is better. They will move systems and ODST, as people (believe it or not, everyone does not own Halo or a 360) will by the bundle and pick-up ODST to play with the Halo 3 that is packaged in the box. It is never bad to bundle an established IP with a system.

Halo 3 is $40 new at Gamestop:

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=200240

Meaning this is not a deal by any means. $310 for a console plus network adapter for the base functionality included in the slim PS3, minus the Blu Ray. All this package would demonstrate is how good of a deal the slim PS3 is, that's assuming it's actually real.

And the problems still happen, and 3rd party sources consistently claim the 360 fails at much greater rates than the PS3 or the Wii. They did not do enough. They should have taken that billion dollars (or at least part of it) and redesigned the console. Or, they should have better tested it prior to release, although there are reports by Dean Takishi that MS knew before release of the system that there was unacceptable failing consoles coming off the line and they kept up with their 2005 release.

I would rather get a PS3. It's $50 cheaper than that, has the network adapter built in, and I don't like Halo.

Also, they should have made the network adapter black.

My PS3 never bricked, but you are making the very flawed assumption that since I am critical of MS on the 360 that I am a cow. On the contrary, the 360 is my favorite system this generation.

Whatever bud no reason to argue. YOu just want to act like Microsoft has done nothing and it is clear they are trying to remedy the problem. rrod is far less of a problem then it was at first. Also the fact of the extended warrenty. Of course it is a problem but if you want to just say nothing has been done then nothing I can say.

I never made such an assumption. I am just pointing the fact that while the 360 has a huge problem, they were willing to take responsibility and correct the issue on their dime, while Sony on the other hand, while they caused the issue with a faulty update, they basically said tough, pay me.

Um, people like me who have had RRoD (especially more than once) sure care. People like you shock me. Who cares if they sell a system with known defects, just bury your head, ignore it, and hope it does not happen to you! That is insane. Consumers should have demanded MS fix the system. Period.

Where did I say nothing was done? I said not enough was done, and it was not. Spending money to solve the problems after they happen is not enough to me. They should be trying to stop the problems before they happen, and that could be done through a redesign of the console. Heck, Sony is redesigning their non-flawed system, I think MS could handle a redesign to stop a very well known issue.

RRoD being a general error message, it'll never be gone. Since RRoD covers a large variety of malfunctions.

Im just as shocked as you are. Reading your little debate here suprises me how accepted RRoD is. Like it should happen. I still havent got the RRoD yet (2005 and still ballin baby) but theres no denying how big the problem and how someone can get annoyed. I feel sorry for the few 360 owners that want free live.

Dare i say it, thats why they're called lemmings *runs off*

Still not on par because PS3 has a blu-ray player and free online. Should have made it without Halo 3 for $299 IMO.

and the 3 year free RROD and E74 warranty

And a 1 month turn around time to fix it. I'm sorry, but a 3 year warranty doesn't make everything OK when it comes to these kinds of thing. It's one hell of a hasle to go through. Especially when it's a 1 month turn around time.

i think they would have preferred it be reach, i think that is going to get an insane advertising campaign, and if advertised as a brand new halo game could have the impact halo 3 had. odst i think will come out pretty low key(for a halo game anyway) and not be much of a console seller like halo 3 was.

this deal is great, a network adapter should help shift units as alot of people are going wireless now, and with the $100 price tag or whatever it carries normally this looks a good deal. dropping the price to 299 will make this an amazing bundle, but they won't...yet.

a lot of 360 owners feel that way. i liken it to the PS2. while in no way nearly as much of a problem as the 360, it boiled down to the library. many of us deal with the possibility of console failure to play the games, much like the PS2 DRE.

I see what you did there.

You should pick one of these up and become a proud new 360 owner. :) It's sweet having all the systems.

But... I have a 360...

;)

[QUOTE="mythrol"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]Don't forget the added RRoD, thrown in for free courtesy of MS.SpruceCaboose
New systems ship with Jasper chips. RROD is gone. Stop trying to hold onto something from the past to make you feel better about your purchases.

I love my 360. But if you think RRoD is gone, you are lying to yourself.

in all fairness, i really do think that launch consoles failing are skewing the numbers a bit.
