Seriously though. Ever since the beginning of 2008, PS3 has had the better exclusives with better graphics, whereas the only thing the 360 has going for it is the lower price. Multiplats are absolutely equal for both consoles. And of course the PS3 has always had much more reliable hardware. So, worse exclusives + lower price console = 360 = more for casual gamers.
Who agrees?
multi plats look better on the 360. although the difference is less and less with each game[QUOTE="AnObscureName"]Define hardcore and casual...acsguitar
Easy!
Casual Gamers don't spend a good portion of their life playing video games
Hardcore Gamers do.
Accessibility is a different issue. Casual gamers don't neccesarily have to suck at games. I think the media has this wrong. The WII is as accessible to Casual gamers as the PS3.
However, the Wii is more accessible to Begginer gamers then the PS3 is. I think we should start defining by accessibility to begginers and advanced gamers.
The X360 is probably more accessible to Begginer gamers then the PS3 just due to its more well known software library. However, I don't think its a huge difference.
The Wii and DS cater to a WIDE range of gaming abilities and needs. The x360, PS3, and PC narrow down the niches.
No, hardcore gaming is not about how much time you spend playing games, it's about looking for depth, originality, story, etc, in the games you play, and not just what is "popular" (although many games do become popular because they are very good). Hardcore gaming is not about just looking for the cheapest console with the most games, but instead it's about looking at the quality of the games.LOL @ people that need to categorize themselves as a particular gamer to feel special.
What if you have all of the systems? Does that make you double hardcore/casual?
heretrix
Haha i completely agree with you.
Im better than you because I play Hardcore games, and you only play causal games. HAHAHAHAHA
Haha im better than you because i own the Hardcore PS3 and you only own the Casual 360. LOL
ANyways your right am i double awesome super cool hardcore/casual gamer because i own all 3 consoles?

That definition isn't anymore accurate than the one you oppose, because there is no standard definition of what makes a hardcore or casual gamer and anybody that thinks they know one is full of it.

[QUOTE="planbfreak4eva"][QUOTE="December24"]mgs4 and uncharted are better in graphics than gears 1 and 2...take ur goggle fanboy glasses off and u will see..and i u still think gears 2 looks better..ok fine..be happy until the 27th february when killzone 2 comes out and becomes the graphics king....Status after weeping: unchanged. Gears of War 2 still trumps any PlayStation 3 game graphically to date. And the original Gears of War owns Uncharted in graphics.

Status after another ignorant person: unchanged. Gears of War 2 is the graphics king on consoles as of now. Deal with it. And be happy with Killzone 2 until another game comes out months after and trumps Killzone 2. This is now. It's Gears of War 2.
Well Gamespot and the VGA's beg to differ.....you seem too sure of yourself. Anywho, I don't agree, I think they both have their way with casual and hardcore gamers. PS3 has LBP, 360 has Banjo, etc.
You are wrong.
hardcore gamers want the best games and best selection
casuals want features like blu-ray and home.
so
360 = hardcore
Ps3 = casual
Not really.
I'm still not quite sure what youre declaring as "hard core". There really arent very many exlcusives, at least it feels like theres less than PS2/xbox.
As far as graphics, yeah the ps3 may have "better hardware", but in the graphics comparisons gamespot did, I'd say the 360 beat the PS3 (and of course PC won).
If youre basing "hardcoreness" on graphics and expense, PC beats PS3.

Which definition? There are several. The definitions for hardcore gamers have serious holes.

That is also part of the problem. Self-proclaimed "hardcore gamers" can't even agree on a definition.
To answer your question, I was referring to the one above me.

I feel that the difference is in intensity. You have your average moviegoers and then you have your movie buffs. Similar concept. Some people just play games to pass the time, and then there are people who really love the hobby and devote alot of time and effort into gaming. In all honesty, I disagree. PS3 does have some great exclusives, but that doesn't mean that the Xbox 360 exclusives are only for the casual gamer. I know plenty of serious gamers who love their 360s.
It works both ways though, the PS3 isn't just for the hardcore people.
You are wrong.
hardcore gamers want the best games and best selection

You're basically saying console owners ARE NOT hardcore but PC gamers are. PC gamers have the best selection and best games.[QUOTE="kerpal_cz"]The 360 is more hardcore than PS3. Just look at Halo for startersAlexSaysAre you saying Halo is a hardcore series? I just want to be sure of this. Sure can be, just as easily as it can be a casually played series.
Actually when I look at both systems layouts you can tell the 360 is a straight up gamers console, the colors they decided to use, the avatars, the gamercards, the way the friends list is displayed...
Everything about the 360 is "gamy"
As for the PS3, Sony went for the more elegant approach which gives the system a much more casual look.
[QUOTE="kerpal_cz"]The 360 is more hardcore than PS3. Just look at Halo for startersAlexSaysAre you saying Halo is a hardcore series? I just want to be sure of this.
I am.
People that I know that play Halo religiously are incredible. I think it has a hardcore following, not just the numbers, but the way they play it. Do you disagree?
I think people who take enough time out of their daily lives to analyze how much more hardcore their system is than a competing system so they feel as if their purchase is justified need to get a new hobby to take up all that spare time.
You could channel all that time into a college course and learn how to render emergency first aid, or actually play your hardcore games.
SpruceCabooseThat point is irrelevant. He's trying to use that game to show one console is more hardcore than another.

Halo's casual following is just as big, if not bigger, than those who play it religiously. Using a game that appeals to both demographics cannot be used to support your theory of one console being more hardcore than another. That point is irrelevant. He's trying to use that game to show one console is more hardcore than another. What point?[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]AlexSays
ps3 ain't hard core it does not have gears 2 or left for dead, it also doesn't have the hardcore gamers online choice halo 3.delta3074360 does not have Disgaea 3 or Valkyria Chronicles, the console TRPGs of choice for hardcore gamers.... See how silly that is?
[QUOTE="AlexSays"]That point is irrelevant. He's trying to use that game to show one console is more hardcore than another. What point? That Halo, like other games, can be played by either way. See how silly that is?that depends on how you look at it, you say that disgaea or valkyrie chronicles is the console TRPS's choice for hardcore gamers but at the same time games like left 4 dead and halo 3 are the console FPS of choice for hardcore gamers, people bought twice as many copies of cod 4 on the xbox 360 as they did for the ps3, so therefore the 360 is the hardcore FPS gamers console of choice, i am a hardcore fps player and the 360 is my console of choice for FPS, cos the ps3 has 2 decent FPS exclusives (r2 and KZ2) and multiplat FPS have the edge over the ps3 version, i have been playing games since the spectrum 48K, so trust me i am a hardcore gamer.

Every game can be played either way. Every game.SpruceCabooseThank you. Now say that to the user trying to say one console is more hardcore because of a certain franchise. When presented to me (repeatedly in this case) your point is irrelevant as it's the same point I've already tried to convey.
