http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/06/tilt-sensitive-tiltboard-module-going-big-for-xbox-360/

Although the Wiimote (and the SIXAXIS, under certain conditions) already enjoy the luxuries that tilting can bring, it looks like those sticking with Microsoft's console will now be able to get in on fun as well. Thanks to a partnership with "specialist peripheral makers" Talismoon, the highly-regarded tiltBoard is reportedly getting an commercial makeover as it readies itself for "mass production." Details are admittedly scant right now, but the forthcoming product -- "which will bring tilt sensitivity for the Xbox 360 to the masses" -- is said to be "worth the wait" from its presumably jovial creator. And if you can't visualize just how spiffy it'd be to control your 360 titles without touching the analog or D-pad, be sure to click on through to see what the tiltBoard can do for you.

MS made a tilt sensitive controller for PC years ago.

But it was never part of their primary controller. Sony patented the SixAxis in 1999, too, but it was never meant to be part of their primary controller until Nintendo changed the game.

All this motiong sensing is dumb. It's not done right at all. If you wanted to play a racing game like that, you should buy a racing wheel. If you want to play a flying game with it, you buy a joystick.

THESE DON'T MAKE THE GAMES MORE FUN AT ALL.

They're copying the industry. When both of your competitors have motion sensing, you'd better have it, too, either by jury-rigging your current system (which is what MS did) or by introducing it in your next system. IMO, MS could have easily waited till the next generation to introduce motion sensing.

No, instead they're all patched and glued and stitched together in a hodge-podge of disparate features like Frankenstein's monster trying to catch up to one another, except for the Wii.

Again, that doesn't matter because Microsoft never made it a focus. (Neither did Sony; Sony unabashedly copied Nintendo, but that's another argument.) It took Nintendo and Sony adopting motion sensing for Microsoft to reintroduce it.

so true. Ms did have a tilt controller but it sucked and they had decided to go on this gen without tilt control. Then Nintendo came out with the Wiimote to great success. PS3 then decides (BEFORE RELEASING THE CONSOLE!!!) to add motion sensing to its control, obviously copying Nintendo. And people have been bashing sony about it over and over...fair enough. But now that MS is tryna play catch up, all the sudden its "What!? MS invented Motion Control!" or "MS had this plan on the books for 10 years...they were just waiting for the right time to release it" or my personal favorite "Yeah, what ever...Sony still copied nintendo!"

Right, it flopped. So why are they going back to it? Because of indirect "peer pressure" from Nintendo and Sony.

We are not saying the MS is copying the technology...we are saying that MS is copying the strategy. By adding features that other consoles had the moment they were released, it shows MS is trying to play catch up. You need to take off your fan goggles and realize that MS isnt as Benelovent and Original as you wish it was. All companies steal strategies in order to stay in the game, and thats what MS is doing.

MS made a tilt sensitive controller for PC years ago.

That may indeed be the case, but why did they not include this as a part of the original 360 launch then? They are PLAINLY following suit, and COPYING Nintendo, and Sony. I do not care what they made for PC YEARS AGO. I am going by what they are doing NOW.

It does not take a rocket scientist to see that they are CLEARLY copying here for competition purposes....and further MILKAGE purposes as well of course. YAY, option$, option$ galore! At least the PS3 comes with everything, and they do not try and milk people later with all of these ridiculously over priced "add ons", or even an overhauled new, "ELITE" console, lol. Add all of these "add ons" up with your intital premium 360 investment, and then come back and tell me that the PS3 is still too expensive, lol.

Premium: $399.00

120GB: HDD 180.00

HDDVD: $200.00

Tlit controller: Yet to be determined, but will probably be 100.00 or so, lol.

See the pattern here anyone????

This has nothing to do with Microsoft so all those fanboy rants about copying are dumb. Someone created some type of controller mod that might be sold by some company. I doubt this will see the light of day and it has NOTHING to do with MS.

How is it ruining anything? Besides, I doubt that the 360's tilt will become very mainstream.

It's a mod a college student did. It probably wouldn't reach circuit city.

All this motiong sensing is dumb. It's not done right at all. If you wanted to play a racing game like that, you should buy a racing wheel. If you want to play a flying game with it, you buy a joystick.

THESE DON'T MAKE THE GAMES MORE FUN AT ALL.

Or you couldn't buy those, and save $100

Its use will be as mainstream as the use of the SixAxis's tilt sensor.

man first off that looks suspicious to begin with. second the 360 doesnt need tilt. if ms wants it, they should wait till next gen. they are already too late on this one. if the elite controllers dont do it, screw it.

... The sixaxis isn't used very often or very well, and that's with the PS3's main controller, so I have doubts as to the uses of a 360 tilt controller.
