I think that's enough to qualify as "MANY" people.

you do realize non-360 owners have been caught posting fake complaints of breakage, right...?

fanboys are silly...

so, you have 5,300 threads as "proof" out of 10 MILLION+ consoles....?

whatta ratio...

And wow one site, That doesnt even do justice for anything. Alot of people dont even get on web forums and talk about how their system broke down.

and many, many have been caught being non-360 owners who are adolescent fanboys...;)

3% is the official number.. until you have anthing different, all else is opinion.. which is funny becuase the opinions of those saying it breaks a LOT are those who don't have one... ie; the tc...;)

hate to break it to ya but this thread isnt opinion based. It's a fact that alot of 360's are breaking down. You can try and steer away from it by coming up with excuses and what not but that isnt going to change anything

maybe you're confused what a "fact" is, since most of you think your opinion is "fact"..

let me help:

1. 3% is the rate of failure according to those who are tracking, MS.... that's a FACT.

2. "the 360's break down more than they should because a bunch of anonymous teenage fanboys said so", is an OPINION.

hope this helps...;)

gawd..i can't wait until spring break is over and the fanboys go back to school... they really need it..

Keep the excuses coming.. Like I said it still isnt going to change anything.

I'm not saying that Microsoft is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. But they are stil doing something about the hardware failures. They are not sitting on their hands. Everybody can agree with this.

[QUOTE="-supercharged-"] Will it ever end? Here we are near 1 1/2 years since the consoles release and MANY people are still having hardware failures. $400 is alot of money to throw around and M$ doesn't seem to be addressing the issue.

Microsoft is not addressing this issue ? http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemsetup/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm "1. New Warranty Enhancements, Including Cost-Free Shipping and Return of Original Console We recently announced that we changed the Xbox 360â„¢ warranty in the United States and Canada from 90 days to one year from the date of purchase. Now we're adding additional service enhancements, taking Xbox 360 customer service one step further. Free Shipping: In the event your console needs to be returned to us for repair your shipping costs are free. We will immediately send you a postage paid container in which to send us your console, and we will pay for shipping charges to return your console to you. We are committed to delivering an improved Xbox customer service experience for our Xbox 360 console customers, one that is faster, more efficient and includes shipping free of any charge. From our customer service representatives to our executive team, the entire Xbox team has made delivering on this commitment a top priority. New Post-Service Warranty: If we repair your Xbox 360 within the original warranty period, you will receive either the balance of your original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer. In addition, we will now pay for the shipping both ways. If we repair your Xbox 360 after the warranty period has expired, while you will be responsible for the repair costs, your repaired console will be returned to you with a new, one year repair warranty. Return of Original Console In either an in warranty or out of warranty situation, most customers will now receive their original console back from Microsoft. 2. Faster Service We are implementing an expedited repair process; upon receipt of the console, Microsoft will repair it and ship it to you within five business days. 3. Enhanced Operations We're increasing the number of Xbox customer care representatives, enhancing our training processes and further building out our on-site technical support, all so our customers will begin to experience a noticeable improvement in the quality of the service they receive when they contact us. Xbox will be hiring a customer care champion who will be responsible for ensuring the end-to-end experience for all Xbox customers is first-class, evaluating and implementing new practices and policies to further enhance the Xbox customer experience. We are also adding more staff at the supervisory level, to ensure we serve you better. "

What a surprise another 360 hardware thread. 3 to 5 % failure rate.

Oh, anyone else notice that the majority of complains on Gamespot forums... Come from level 10 or lower ranked users?

I suspect "cow" troll accounts.

3% x 12 million 360s = 360,000 lol, 360 pops up again.

oh...so now MS has sold 12 million?

that's great.. we're OFFICIALLY 10 million in sales over the ps3.. :)

For a console that has been on the market for over 1 year now, and only got Gears to show for is kinda sad. I will wait for Huxley, Halo3, and that so-called Marvel super-heroes game that they are secretly working on. Hopefully by then, if the hw issue like these are sorted out, I will then buy a 360.

That's called addressing the issues. They are making the service much better to prevent the hassle people were having with broken 360s. (More like preventing lawsuits, but it doesn't matter.) They could have fixed whatever is wrong with it, but we don't know.

That's called addressing the issues. They are making the service much better to prevent the hassle people were having with broken 360s. (More like preventing lawsuits, but it doesn't matter.)

They could have fixed whatever is wrong with it, but we don't know.

Spending $400 for a game system then having it break down and having to send it through the mail. Waiting for it to be fixed and what not. I'm sorry but that is a hassle and fustrating for alot of people.

But I guess at least M$ is making their customer support more friendly but that still isnt going to change anything.

I've yet to have any problems with my X360. I got mine in June 2006. Here's some tips on not getting you box over heated: - DO NOT LEAVE IT ON CARPET SURFACE - BEST TO USE A FRAME-BASED TRAY TO RAISE IT OFF ANY FLOORING - DO NOT STORE IT IN A TV SHELF, LEAVE IT OPEN, 360 DEGREES - If possible, store it in a basement is recommended gnutux

That's really not the change I was looking for. Friendlier customer support is great. Consoles that don't break down this quickly would be even better. If they're this unreliable in Year 1, can you imagine what they will be like in Year 3 and Year 4 after some heavy gameplay? :::::shudders:::::

Will it ever end?

Here we are near 1 1/2 years since the consoles release and MANY people are still having hardware failures. $400 is alot of money to throw around and M$ doesn't seem to be addressing the issue.

Actually, they are. They have already extended the warranty on the 360 to one year and offered to reimburse those who did pay for repairs. Free shipping of the console and a five day waiting period are guaranteed now. So in terms of customer service, they are doing a lot.

Really though, a 1 year warranty and free shipping is the kind of stuff you take for granted. While it is good that they finally realize what total ****heads they've been to the consumer they're still ****heads for being ****heads in the first place. It's truly completely unbelievable that they got away with a 90 day ****ing warranty and forcing the consumer to pay for shipping as long as they did. I'm guessing what with the number of failed 360's growing into crazy numbers they grew a bit concerned regarding lawsuits.

since when is 3% "crazy numbers"...? when it's way less than the average for new technology..

fanboys...

I thought even the most hardcore of lemmings would be rolling their eyes at that number along with the rest of us by now. Guess not. Please do continue living in your delusional world since that's obviously what you want. Just don't try and bring it into conversations where things like logic and reality apply.

No it will have the same problems... both the elite and premium have the same processor(size).

Exactly thats what some people aren't realizing.  I've got a ps3 I almost bought an 360, but only one thing kept me and keeps me from buying one its lack of hardware quality.  I worked at a game store and we used to get at least five broken 360's a week.  In fact the 360 extended warrenty was the easiest to sell because all I had to do was show the customers the 15 to 20 broken 360's we had in the back.  We even went through 4 store 360's in a year! a year!

Now my concern with the 360 isn't with the first year after buying it, not even the second year, because of manufacture or extended warrenties cover that.  I don't know about you if I pay 400 dollars I want to know I've got a system that will at least last 4 years.  My ps1 last 4 years, both of my ps2's lasted 5 years, even my xbox is working and I had it for 3 years no problems.

How many people here can honestly say that they think their current 360 will last through four years?

My 360 has worked fine since I bought it in November of 2005.  Initially, I thought that all this hardware failure stuff was being blown out of proportion by MS haters.  I guess it's a bigger issue than I thought after seeing so much coverage from reputable news sources.  If mine dies, I will probably get it repaired because I'm really happy with the 360 overall.  I would probably trade in all my games & peripherals & be done with them after 2 hardware failures though.  Microsoft should do a better job of standing behind their product.  In my opinion, they should expand their warranty again.

A majority are probably 2005 consoles. But that doesn't mean newer consoles don't have problems. Bought mine in March 2006, RLOD in September. Plenty of 360's have crapped out since then.
