Multipe discs suck, and 360 is seeing more and more of them, not just in RPGs but even racing games and action games (Forza 3, Dead Space 2, Castlevania etc...)

Games are getting bigger, not smaller so I think its going to get worse

FF XIII-2 is a given

Forza 4 maybe? if its bigger than Forza3

Skyrim, Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3 and other RPGs are very likely

Since LA Noir had to be on 3, what about GTA5 or RDR2?

MGS Rising if it even has 1/3 of cinematic MGS4 had

so what else do you think?

For an open world game like GTA5 it will be more problematic. I just hope that Rockstar doesn't gimp the game just to avoid a disc swapping problem in the 360

When did it start to be a problem!? I have no issue with getting up a couple of times every 5-6 hrs of gameplay to change a disc.

there was a prtotype 360disc with 10.7GB a couple months back MS began sending them out to be tested with users. so i'm pretty sure a dev can fit games on 10.7GB and if it gets bad, 21.4GB.

MS should just give devs what they want (i.e. more space) and adopt Blu-ray in their next console and bundle the console with a 500GB hard drive (for install options and games on demand). But trying to keep the DVD alive? Where's the dislike button?

Thanks to adult diapers and an iv drip, disc swapping is the final obstacle in my quest for the ultimate in gaming immersion. Truly a travesty against humanity.

The only people who view it as a problem are the people who don't have a 360 and try to seek any possible victory over it on system wars.

If disc swapping was that serious of an issue, you wouldn't be a console gamer at all. The PC is the only system where the majority of games can be played without ever needing to even put in a disc to play it. Steam allows me to press one click and i instantly start playing the game.

If you can up with swapping the disc once to play the game, then a few more times with a multi-disc game is not a big deal.

Disc swapping takes less time than a mandatory install.

Disks are going to be less of a issue, my bet is the games will install, on the HDs, its a option now for performance. I love the ps3 and all but the bluray disk drive in it is slowwwwww. thats the reason most games have to install. plus getting off your A$$ every now and then is a good thing, you should go outside sometimes too.

I dont see this as a problem, it means the games are getting better and should last longer. Numerous ways around the issue of multiple discs, just install to HD or part installs to HD/USB drive.

What?! D-bag friend that keeps on borrowing your games. Why don't they buy the games from time to time? So the sentance can change to "you can borrow your friends game."

You should tell that to the Cows here on SW who thinks that Blu-Ray is automatically more superior than DVD. Also, PC games also uses DVD's for storage still.

Unless of course they damage or loose the disk, then you are out of luck. Good gravy! And besides I don't see Kinect games taking up more than 1 disk, so the 360 should be good for the most part.

it's a hassle, it's not convenient, it breaks immersion, doesn't have the neatness and simplicity of just one disk

also could hold back potential for a game because devs only have a set limit of space

there's a 1000+ thread about this, must be a problem to some people

I was going to buy LA Noir for 360 because it is cheaper where I live but decided to go with PS3 because of the 3 discs (don't care about exclusive content)

And no one can help you. Really getting up and moving every few hours is not a bad thing. Besides the more disks the more content able to be put into a game so... I say go for it if it gives us better games.

Mandatory installs comes BEFORE playing the game.

I'd rather put up with installs rather than switching discs in the middle of game playing, especially in 2011.

Some of you 360 owners vehemently defend Disc Switching only because:

  1. it's the ONLY system you own
  2. you're a Lem
  3. you own other systems but you're still a Lem

Plus... I don't know about everyone else here... I don't treat my discs like crap. if they aren't being played they're in the case. Honestly, just don't wipe your butt with the disc and they should survive for a good long time. My copy of Super mario Sunshine (which I got in 2002) still works perfectly.

The problem with multiple disks isnt that you have to get up to change the disk every 20 hours. The problem is the way the game has to be developed. Take ff13 for example. An open world which allowed us to backtrack would have to have been carried over onto all three disks taking up space on the disks itself. FF9 limited what towns you could visit on the final disk bc there wasnt enough space.

I have no problems with multiple disks. I've been playing JRPG's on my PS1 and PS2 for years with lots of multiple disks. Why should I care now about the Xbox 360 having multiple disks. It doesn't bother me or most other gamers. I could understand if I had to swap discs every few minutes (like had to be done with some PS2 JRPGS just because you switched areas back and forth), but all the 360 games with multiple disc only have to be swapped 1-2 times. It won't be a problem for GTA5 as the data will get stored on the HDD, so only 1 swap will probably be necessary if GTA5 is on 2 discs. I don't see this as being a problem at all. PS3 fanboys are grasping at straws.

sounds like the people that see it as a problem are the ones that DON'T own a 360 :|
