360 ONLY outselling PS3 by 1.5% this year (Being OUTSOLD BEFORE HALO 3 RELEASE)

Obeservations:

The rest of the world DOES matter. Us Americans need to realize this.

PS3 was outselling the 360 before the release of Halo 3 (PS3 3,447,307 to 360 3,295,533 )

Both systems are selling like crap compared to the Wii. The 360 only made it too 8.5 million sold by Jan 1 because Gears boosted the sales. After that it wasok and so was the PS3 after Christmas(dead)..now the Wii, that thing is on crack.

Well, I hope to hell that a new system sells good, especially the leader of last gen.

Anytime that a new console comes out, it should trounce a console that has been out a year before, and guess what, it didn't. And now it trails the 360, a 2 yr old system in sales globally this year. And from what all the hype of this supercompuer PS3, it was supposed to walk all over the 360. But after the press realized that the PS3 is underpowered and overpriced, the hype is now gone.

Huge failure for Sony.

Actually consoles in their second year tend to sell better than their first. The PS2 REALLY started to sell in 2002.

The Xbox 360 just doesn't have enough games.

yes by 1.5% also its 500-600 and doesn't have any of its killer games out compared to a system that is cheaper and has a load of games

There was no competition and it sold bad, this year 360 in a worse position in sales, next year PS3 will walk all over it, the only reason stopping PS3 to do that is the games, this Holiday PS3 will have all the games people wanting ( casuals mostly), PES 2008 is one example, don't underestimate this game, PS fans love it so much, this game only will boost sales, there is also Raw VS SD 2008, Need for Speed and don't forget GT5: prologue will be in stores also, hardcores or casuals will not care if it isn't the full game, everybody will buy it and the price will make the Blu-ray format a winner also, all this mistakes PS3 had are gone now, PS3 with no bad press=PS2, tick tuck tick tuck, it will explode, Im sure of it.

Your assumptions and generalizations are not facts. Also, you make the case that the 360 has no games going into the holiday season.

The PS3s only shot of a great holiday is not games, its price point, and I am not sure $400 is low enough if MS counters with a price drop. If MS stays at $350, the PS3 will sell very well. If MS gets the 360 Pro to $300 or does some nifty marketing stuff, the PS3 might have a harder go of the holiday, especially with the Wii cannibalizing the casual market.

Yes, with a previous user base of 5 to 1 compared to the Xbox, the PS3 should be doing way way better, but its not. Previous PlayStation owners are crossing to the XBox brand in droves, as the PS3 continue's to lose ground to the 360.

And lets us not forget, until the expensive PS3 can come down a hell of lot more in price, the PS3 will always be just a niche product. Anyone who thinks that Sony is gonna move tonnes of PS3 at $400 is sniffing the glue too long.

Expensive price tag, lack of games, poor online, only fanboys and movie buffs buy the PS3. And pathetic sales of the mighty playstation brand shows this to be exactly true. Last place for an overprice underperforming console called the PS3.

Sorry, but PS3 has no chance this quarter. They have no Halo calibur game coming this year, plus the Wii will still be sold out. The PS3 should sell fine, but its not gonna win.

No it won't. Wii will still be the cheapest and people buy that whether or not it has good games.

Sony proclaimed to have 6 times the userbase (last gen) as MS did...

the 360 should not be outselling the ps3 at all with that info...;)

ps... your site uses estimates only and are not accurate... the 360 is selling more than what is listed...

VGchartz are sheep, they favor the Wii and DS over the PS3 and PSP, and the PS3 over the 360

this is a KNOWN fact

their numbers are skewed and biased towards Nintendo and to a point sony, they dont even have OFFICIAL numbers

how did the ps3 end up selling 577 thousand units in april ???
