So why do Americans need to realize when thier market dictates more then any other market? Maybe it is the rest of the people thinking Japan is important when PS3 isn't really selling very well over there now either. Maybe it is fanboys who think that 360 is only selling, are the problem? Because as long as your being outsold. Your not gaining ground, your losing more. Funny, Japan turned out for the most part to be a flop for both 360 and PS3. That's because the PS2 was only released in Japan. So pretty much:

PS2 Japan = PS3 Worldwide.

The PS3 launched this year and received a launch boost in terms of sales. This is experienced by every console when it first launches. The X360 didn't launch this year so no big sales boost.

The real question is, how is the PS3 (without any shortages) doing in its first year compared to the X360 (which suffered shortages for several months). It seems the PS3 isn't doing nearly as good as the X360's 1st year on the market in terms of worldwide numbers.

And from what all the hype of this supercompuer PS3, it was supposed to walk all over the 360. But after the press realized that the PS3 is underpowered and overpriced, the hype is now gone.

Consoles sell more once the price drops and AAA titles are released. Both things just happened for the 360.

Well, if the develpers of MGS4 and FF completely ignore a console with a higher user base and a higher attach rate then I think their CEOs have cajones of steel. What a corageous move on their part if it works out for them. What a hard time they will have explaining things to their stockholders if the games are not as profitable as they had hoped.

Sales figures are fun to look at once in awhile for discussion, but as a gamer I could really care less how many consoles my favorite system atm sells.

I look at the games and I buy accordingly. I'm not ruling out sales so my console of choice doesnt die, but all three systems arent going anywhere this gen.

Everything seems to indicate that the PS3 is getting spanked in Europe (by both the 360 and the Wii). If the new European SKU and the lower price does not convince you of this, nothing will.
