360 or Wii? Cliche topic I know, but I'm undecided.

Okay, so I know this has been done millions of times, but I don't have too many other people to talk to about games, so I thought I would ask here.

I'll start of by saying I'm 18 years old (female if it matters) and going to be paying for everything myself, and I'm undecided on whether I should go with a Wii or 360, though honestly I'm leaning more towards a Wii, but I don't want to regret it later and fall into "The Hype" trap.

I don't care about hype though, as I already own a Playstation 3, and I don't plan on having more than 2 systems this generation unless I get lucky (Got the Playstation 3 for free), so I need something to complete this. Either a 360 to go along side it, or a Wii.

Wii Pros

+ I like the uniqueness, and how it's different from the other consoles.

+ I like the upcoming line up of Super Smash brothers, and Metroid Prime 3, and the existing Twlight Princess, and maybe I'd give Super Paper Mario a try.

+ It's only $250, so I can buy this faster when I get all the money together.

+ I play on a standard definition television.

+ Seems like harmless fun

Wii Cons

- I don't like all the casual games, and I don't want to be stuck playing them all the time.

- I don't like the peripheral prices in the least bit

- Outside of Super Smash brothers, Zelda, and Metroid Prime, I'm not sure what else I want for 2008 and beyond

- It's $250, I don't like the idea of paying that for Gamecube hardware, and getting Wiiplay which I don't want.

- Unproven online so far

-No interest in virtual console games. Don't like the idea of paying $8 for a Sonic game.

Xbox 360 Pros

+ It's an Xbox 360 and I liked original Xbox

+ It has a great online (Minus the community)

+ I really like Xbox Live Arcade, sometimes I don't feel like playing a full game

+ Xbox Live Arcade again, because it seems really cool

+ It's gaining a lot of support from other developers, and combined with the PS3, I'd never miss a game I want.

+ Seems to be getting a lot of anime game support with the Naruto game (seems to be pretty good), and the only Dragonball Z game coming soon.

+ I already pay for Xbox Live

+ People I know all have 360's

Xbox 360 Cons

- I have a Playstation 3. It seems like there is no need to dump $400-480 on a system that gets the same games.

- I don't like playing first person shooters all the time, and the only shooter that interests me is Gears of War, which I've already played and beaten.

- Hardware failures kills me everytime. I passed on the Xbox 360 because of the reports I was hearing on the news. Though everyone I know who has an Xbox 360 had to return it, plus the reports I hear online. I feel it is too conincidental, for the hardware to not be built poorly, and I don't want to go through the process of returns.

- I don't have an HDTV and won't be getting one for a long time.

- I don't fit in with the Xbox 360 crowd and stereotypes.

- I don't like Halo 3 (Multiplayer), and I honeslty don't know what games I would want for this system, that are not shooters, that I can't find on my PS3.

So those are my reasons for liking and disliking the Wii and 360. I'm honestly leaning more towards the Wii, but I don't want to regret it 2 years later, like I did the Gamecube, and although I'm leaning towards a Wii, I just can't let the Xbox 360 go out of my mind, even though I know it's nothing I'm looking forward to besides Mass Effect, and Fable 2 ( I know very little about those games). So based on this, how would you all decide, and is there anything else I could know about the 360 or Wii, that would help sway my decision more in either direction.

You should just get both. You'll be missing out on great games if you only pick up one or the other.

Trade in your PS3 for an Xbox and get a Wii :) But based on your likes and dislikes and what you have I would go for the Wii. The Wii has become the PS2 of the gen. That means it won't lack games. Lots of shovelware for sure, but you can always count on Nintendo and major Third Party devs that are moving towards the Wii right now.

Looks like u want a wii. Igot Wii60. and even i had problems with my 360. I got it to work again with the towel trick.but i traded it in after to upgrade to an elite. Im not gonna lie, im a bit sick of how MS has done business so far, creating crappy hardware and milking alot of 360 owners. like the 100 dollar price tag on the HDs is To much. But I love the games on it. Gears is fun as heck, and Xbox live is awesome. Plus Halo 3, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonota, Too Human, Blue Dragon, Bioshock, Alan Wake, Fable 2, Banjo 3, etc have me more hyped than the PS3 exclusive games.

For you i say get a wii. Try Zelda TP, Papermario. and enjoy smash, metroid, and mario galaxy. Also there is DQ swords, FF chrystal chronicles, Soul Caliber Legends, Battallion Wars 2, Fire Emblem, RE umbrella chronicles, Nights, Dewys adventure, Zack and Wikki, DIsaster, etc coming out for the wii. Theres a lot of games that look like they can be great coming to the wii. ANd it really compliments the graphical powered systems. TO me a PSwii and Wii60 combo makes more sense than PS60. You really dont get much out of the other one. You will either enjoy PS3 to much, or Enjoy 360 to much. and the other system will have less games played on it. and for a 400 dollars or 600 dollars thats alot of money to waste.

Okay, so I've only got a few answers, and they seem to be towards the Wii. My favorite gametypes are Action Adventure, and RPG. So far the most influential post is yours ig4xchamp, and I appreciate your honesty, and experience with the consoles. So thank you for your input, and I think I'm going to go that way come August (My birthday is August 31st, gonna treat myself). That is ofcourse I find a huge sway in the 360 department, because I don't know too much about the upcoming games (Though that Alan Wake game and Bioshock looks okay after looking it up), but from what I see I'm not interested enough to spend all that money, but I always have an open mind as I find out more information. E3 should help right?

OMG a gurl?!!? *explodes*

Seriously, though, I have a Wii and like it, have had it since November 19th or whatever.

I am personally interested in buying a 360, though I'm going to wait for the smaller chipset and (hopefully) a price reduction. If I owned a PS3, I would not even consider a 360 for a second. What's the point? A few exclusives?

Gears of War is fun and all, but not worth the price, the multiplats are where it's at. Anyway, you'll have FFXIII.

The games that interest me on the 360 (which really is not important to the thread at all) are Carcassonne, Culdcept, and maybe Mass Effect/Bioshock.

Anyway, the Wii has the most exclusives if you already have one of the "hi-technical" systems.

Always does. It may have been downsized but there'll still be a plethora of new information for you to decide on.

Based on your post i would get a 360. Wiiis off to a good start but i honestly don't see how (or why) it would keep selling like it is, so i would wait on that.

if you like action games that let you blow stuff up get the 360

if you like regular games with not that much gore or violence get the wii
