Just thought I would remind us of these figures in response to the "PS3 outsells the 360 by almost 1million this year" threads.

The figures below are for the last six months so not to include any launch dates/pre-orders.

World-wide VGChartz Hardware data for the period 22nd Apr 2007 to 21st Oct 2007:

PS3 - 2,221,852

X360 - 3,072,974

That is awesome news. For the PS3. Considering the PS3 has only a handful of good exclusives and that 360 count includes at least the initial surge from Halo 3 then I would say the PS3 is more than holding its own. Now I do wonder at your choice of VGCharts though.

I am glad you think that. I sure MS would settle for selling 1.5 million consoles a year more than Sony. The 360 has a fantastic attach rate so they would sells millions more copies of software as well.

Just go by the quarter reports. Sure they are only shipped to retail, but that is the only reliable sales numbers you are going to get. So far the Wii is winning with 13.7 million shipped. The 360 is close behind with 13.4 million shipped. The PS3 is in dead last with 5.6 million shipped.

Analysts go by those numbers as well. Shipped numbers aren't exactly reliable though.

What about the rest of the months i 'm sorry but using a period a time where the 360 wins instead of the whole year makes this thread pathetic . if your going to make a thread at least make it reliable. Lemming need to look at the big picture. The 360 and the ps3 are neck and neck in numbers.

How are shipped numbers not reliable?MS, Nintendo and Sonyknow EXACTLY how much they shipped to retail, while as if you try and go by WW sold through to customer, good luck with that because every single system used to account for that is estimated, even NPD, although NPD, along with Canada and Japan are probably the most reliable out of all of them.

^^^ Point, set, match. If the PS3 is only underselling the 360 by 1.5 million units (and if it is just 3 to 2,2 or w/e its only the US, both systems have sold close to 5 million worldwide) then I think its doign fairly good on its launch year. I bought mine, picked up warhawk and the fun of that game has yet to wear off. I think, and this is personally, that Warhawk blows Halo out of the water in terms of variety of gameplay and methods of play.

Thank you, good night.

So despite having zero games and a significantly higher price tag...the 360 only outselles the PS3 by 142,000 a month?

Sorry, but that is small potatoes. I don't see how fanboys can look at these numbers and instantly think Sony is doomed. Look at the lead of current (Wii) and past (PS2) consoles to see what "outselling" really means. 142,000 consoles a month, world wide, is far from being insurmountable.
