360 owners: are you eventually going to buy a PS3? (and vice versa)

There's no doubt that the PS3 and the 360 are the most direct competitor platforms this generation.

But if the 360 owners who bash the PS3 are eventually going to get one when MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, or some other blockbuster title come out, they will nevertheless help Sony expand its market share.

Similarly, if the PS3 owners who bash the 360 are eventually going to get a 360 when they can't hold out any longer for Halo 3, Gears 2, Mass Effect trilogy, Ninja Gaiden 2, or some other blockbuster, they will nevertheless help Microsoft expand market share.

So what category are you? Please answer in the above poll and feel free to express your thoughts below.

I have a friend who's 360 I can borrow for the occassion title that I want to play that I rent from Gamefly, so I really don't need to buy one.

Glad I didn't have to spend three-hundred or more USD just to play a couple of decent games.

I already have all the systems and my PC kicks ass, so no worries.

I own a PS3, and will eventually get a 360. At first, it was a tough decision between which one to get; but when the price dropped on the 60 Gig PS3 I snatched it up and I love it. That's not to say that I wouldn't love the 360 more or less had I bought that instead, but yeah.

Back to the topic, I will most likely get a 360 at some point due to some game. I almost bought one for Halo 3, but decided against it. I will first buy a Wii, and once Fable 2 comes out, I will buy a 360 (Fable was the original reason for buying an Xbox). Then I can play Mass Effect, NG2, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon and soo many others.

Im not planning to get a ps3 yet... In the future if PS3 shows me it has enough reasons to buy it, I might buy it...

Games, the so called 2008 killer list, doesnt impress me..

I sold my 360 since it was collecting dust, but I'll probably pick up another one next year or 09 depending... kinda hoping for built in wifi, quieter fans, and bulletproof hardware.

I'll be getting a PS3 in the future. I believe the hype that the PS3 has a lot more power to be exploited and I don't want to miss out on the big budget games that will take advantage of it.

I thought i was going to get a PS3 first but a few things stopped and made me say to myself to "get one once Metal Gear arrives".

PS3 doesn't have anything at that moment when i made my descion back in june 07

At 1k AU for a PS3, pfft hell no, the 360 was only $550 AU

Metal Gear wasn't there yet

Halo and Bioshok were coming

But all in all i will most likely get all three.

I'll WAIT LOL for the playstation to have some decent games that are obviously superior to 360 games. But I don't really see that happening this gen. It's just badly designed.Jelle87

I think you meant the 360 is poorly designed.

The PS3 is designed fine, its just that developers needeed time to figure out the software architecture, as its more complicated than the 360s architecture.

Currently own a PS3.

Owned an Xbox last generation. To be fair, it did give me 3-4 years of flawless performance. Near the end, I got CONSTANT disc reading errors. The same ones, oddly enough, that plague the current Xbox360.

"Please insert Xbox disc" when I so clearly have.

Running the game with choppy motions.

Crashing my games at certain pre-destined spots.

Causing me grievous mental damage.

I'm not willing to go through that again with the Xbox360. (I'm going to make the very large and probably false assumption that the RROD issue is being resolved with newer/cooler chipsets and GPUs. But there is something else systemically wrong if disc reading errors persist across 2 generation. And no, cooler chips are not going to fix that.)

I know it happens, but I have not experienced it myself, and my only IRL friend who had one got it right before the system RRoDed, so I am pretty sure that was just a prelude to that.

I dunno. DREs just are not something I worry about with the 360. RRoD is.

If you want a 360 but fear the issues, get the two year extended MS warranty. Make it 3 years for any issues at all with the system, and 5 years for RRoD coverage for an extra $50. Its worth it IMO, and MS has always been good to me at getting issues resolved fairly quickly and with minimal hassle.

As soon as there is 1 game that interests me that I can't get elsewhere.... so far nothing, announced for 2008 and 2009 (delays pending)... still nothing...

As Sony have adopted a "Just You Wait" policy of rgames and rumble this time around, I'm adopting the same policy for Sony getting my cash.

It might help if they finally make their minds up over what they actually want the hardware specs to be, give it 3 months and they'll probably annouce that the 40Gb version is being "phased out" and replaced with another version, with a few more input sockets removed as well.

I am, but probably when they start putting in the dualshock 3 with the system early next year.

none that i'd buy. i use gamefly so i'd rent resistance, heavenly sword, and uncharted.

I'm not a 360 owner, but I'm a high end PC owner.

I'm interested in the PS3, it has a fantastic 2008 lineup. Lets see how it all pans out.

The percentages tell a story dont thay about which group has the largest set of biased fans.

For me I am a 360 owner and Ps3 borrower til March when if my GF loves me will be buying me a PS3. (fingers cross)...

Shame sooo many Ps3 say nay the 360 has a lovely library now and some nice titles like teh PS3 in 2008/09. I'd pick one up for sure if I had a Ps3 now and wanted to wait for the 360 to be cheaper. Though from what some say 90% of PS3 owners also have Uber-gaming Pc's so dont need second rate 360 tosh. LOL...

Own all its the best way. Bar money obviously...
