No.

Did you feel ripped off when the awesome space of blu Ray was used for only 8 tracks and 2 game-play modes in Motorstorm?

I mean PGR 3 is only on DVD 9 and it has more of everything.

Actually, Motorstorm was around 17 Gigs. Its extreame detail and videos are what took up so much space. The game looks like real life though.

You know they fill it up with a lot of garbage between the levels and textures and such so as to decrease piracy right? My cousin is a small time developer and he writes articles for a game magazine many of the people on this forum receive in the mail each month (can't tell you what it is). To say that Motorstorm wouldn't even fit ontwo dvd9s is absurd (taking out security at what not, its about 8GB), looking at oblivion.

BY THE WAY SOMEONE EARLIER IN THIS THREAD SAID GUN COSTS $60..IT'S $29.99, I WAS AT THE STORE YESTERDAY BUYING CALL OF JUAREZ (MUCH BETTER WESTERN THAN GUN MIGHT I ADD)

there is no excuse for the 360 versio costing more then pc version if they are the same game. look at bioshock for instance.alfy13

The extra cost for the 360 version is for licensing fees, you get the hardware subsidized and then pay ~$10 extra per game to cover the cost. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Razor_and_blades_business_model

At least Sony has a reason for the 60 dollar discs. They are taking a loss on the system and want to get back profits from software sales. MS is making a profit from hardware sales and I"m sure that dvd disc (cheap last gen software) is is profit margin and they are making you pay for online. If anyone is getting screwed, its the 360 fans by Microsoft. MS has no reason to stamp 60 bucks on there games besides having a bigger profit margin. Bleeding it out of the xbox fans.caseypayne69

FOR NOW, yes, but their business plan is long-term. Before they could sell 360s with a profit they lost money, and if they cut the price they will begin to lose money again. A big chunk of the XBL-fees goes to *drumroll* - cover the cost of XBL! Something Sony makes the developers pay for with their "free" online service, that's why many PS3 game have no online.Everyone that buys the PS3 game have to cover the cost for the online service, with 360 it's optional. Good thing for me and others that don't like online gameplay.

Why are you trying to make it sound as if Sony is charging for their online service?

Sony does not have an online service. Developers host their own games that it why it differs with every single game. No consistency.

If my memory is correct NES and SNES games were also $50+ 20 years ago.

Do you feel as if your being ripped off? I mean it's just a plain ole dvd disc. At least PS3 owners get Blu-Ray formatted disc with 5 times more space. Seams like MS is taking advantage of its customers.

Er, but the game sizes are the same until some dude comes out and makes a massive, and remember oblivion fits on a dvd so I mean massive, game. Games arn't using the storage on blu ray. In fact in some ways, dvd is better as it is more scratch resistant.

I agree that Microsoft has not justified paying $60 for their games when they are on an inexpensive format, even further they should drop the Platinum Hits titles to $24.99 to match the original Xbox's $19.99 on Platinum Hits titles. $29.99 is still a bit much.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. You're never paying 400 or 600 bucks for a console, because you're going to pay more in games and peripherals and online transactions over the lifetime of the system. Company's like MS and Sony aren't doing you any favors by selling you a console at a loss for a cheap price. They're getting you hooked on a piece of hardware, and then raking you over the coals for everything else. It's definitely not cheap to be a gamer. Same thing with cell phones, nice and cheap to buy, but you're going to pay a premium for service and accessories.
