Anyone who would base their decision off of Halo 3 has already purchased their console. they've had a year and a half to do it. Halo is not going to blow other 360 games or the competition's games out of the water. It will not be a huge draw like before.dubvisions
why would the people who want the 360 only for halo 3 have already bought the console? surely they would wait til release to see if theres a price reduction or special offer. plus the number of games sold for halo 1 went up for halo 2 so its not impossible for it to jump with halo 3.

There are still a ton of people who will buy the 360 for Halo 3 that are waiting for a price drop, so part of them will buy a 360 right at the Halo 3 launch and then you'll have a huge group of Halo 3 fans that will wait for a price drop and then buy a 360.
It might not sell too many, there was like 4 million pre orders, and I'm sure most of the pre orders are from people that own 360's. When buying a 360, everyone knows Halo will come to that platform, so the Halo fans could already own one. Sort of like how Final Fantasy fans now own a ps3 cause they know it will come to the ps3. (Stay on topic I know fanboys have to restrain themselves from saying "u dumb dumb it's coming to 360")
My guess would be it would sell 1 million at max, over time too, not all at once. Â

I disagree. I think people are waiting, just like more are waiting for FF13 and MGS4.
I doubt people buy them immediately.
I've also read links saying only a few million people who bought the Xbox 1 have bought a 360 so far.
I think many are waiting, but that's just me.

Don't be foolish. You could say that about any big hitter title on any console...
There are plenty of people that are waiting for Halo 3 to come out before they buy a 360.Â
If people are waiting on a price drop, their going to buy when the price drops, not because Halo 3 came out. There's two different parts of the buying process you're throwing together. One is deciding which console to buy (basing that decision off of titles like Ha-blo 3). Then there's deciding when to buy it (based off of prices).
What if Halo 3 comes out andnthere's no price drop by then? Your theory goes bye bye.
The hardcore fane have already purchased, for the most part. The rest are going to wait until the money is right, not the titles.
Be honest here, Hardcore Halo fans have a 360 already, but it will still move units to the more casual people. I think MS is releasing Halo 3 more to keep the status quo, that is, to draw people away from the PS3 and keep them buying the 360. Afterall, when your on top of the sales charts you have to do everything in your power to stay there. But, there's no doubt, the Wii will soon lead the way.
Oh and I would be shocked if MS had a price drop yet, I would expect that next year.Â
as i said earlier most people who just want the console for halo probably wont buy it since they know there might be a price drop by its release. plus if you were going to buy a console for just the one game why on earth would you buy it before it comes out?If people are waiting on a price drop, their going to buy when the price drops, not because Halo 3 came out. There's two different parts of the buying process you're throwing together. One is deciding which console to buy (basing that decision off of titles like Ha-blo 3). Then there's deciding when to buy it (based off of prices).

It'll probably move 1 million consoles, 1.5 million if there's a price drop. Then it'll revert to normal 360 sales after about 4 months.Eponique
It will move more consoles than that. All Halo packages (regular, special, legendary) are ALL IN THE AMAZON top bestsellers list. Legendary was already at #6 on the list, and was #3 a few days ago. The game is going to sell over 10 million easily at this rate. My Gamestop stopped accepting pre-orders ON ALL 3 PACKAGES. There is a ridiculous demand for this game.Â

Thanks for your pointless input, cow. Now moove along and try to justify your $600 ,12 hour long,  door stop.

Just like cows who already wanted Final Fantasy XIII and MGS4 have all gotten PS3s already...yeah, sure. There are people who ONLY WANT HALO 3 PERIOD and will not buy a 360 until it releases.Â

The difference is that the 360 already cheap..400 dollars anyone can afford it..while the PS3 people is still waitin for a price drop and the games to arrive.I know a few that is hopin for a price drop next year so they can get their hands on the mgs4 and final fantasy viii...and most hardcore halo fans is probaly play beta right now..lol.
But i think that the other heavy hitters on the 360 will move more consoles than Halo. Halo will only sell the console to those who love Halo but haven't bought a 360 yet.
IMO, i think that the Wii's and PS3's killer-aps will sell more than the 360.Â

I never met anyone who bought an Xbox for Halo 1 or 2. But you can imagine all the 11 year old XBL players will whine to their parents for a 360.Â

even $400 is too much for a games console. most people agree that $200 is the sweet spot for now.

I hope for Sony's sake the same is not true for the PS3 and its heavy hitters.
Well people don't buy Playstation for one game and I'm not bashing the 360 here, but I know people who buy the Xbox and the 360 for just Halo. Yeah they'll pick up a few other games but the main reason they have their system is for Halo.Â

6 million consoles were sold between halo 2 release and the end of the xbox's life ( which was basically a matter of 7-8 months)

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]between halo 3 release and end of year? bout 4-6mMandingo101:lol:
Yea...that's a little too optismtic though gears alone sold 2 million between release and the end of the year so it's possible...maybe 4 million...not 6...Â

We'll gears of war got 2 million between its release and end of year, It was an new IP it had hype.
WE have halo 3 releaseing in septermber, Its got more hype then any other game out there right now, more hype then final fantsy 13, or MGS4 combined and you all know it! ;)
Â
So I think 4-6m is actually pretty low.Â
if people actually want to get an Xbox 360, wouldn't they be done that long time ago?
if they are just waiting for one game, Halo 3 to buy it, then they are just being stupid. they could have bought it right now and play some other games while waiting.

Halo 3 has 4 million preorders. So what are you talking about.
Whatever it is, it won't be more than the Wii. darkmario123actually it will probably up to ten times more. the wii is having production problems, thats why it remains sold out. they cant sell more in december than they do anyother months because they can only sell what they make. meanwhile the 360 is over producing for the christmas season. so you will probably see 400k wiis sold in decembe vs 4 million 360s if there is a price cut.  1/2 of all retail sales happen between thanksgiving and christmas, that means december and november sell as much as the other ten months combined. the ps3 may even outsell the wii this christmas just because it will be avalible.
The ability to sell consoles didn't stop the first 2 Halos from sucking, and if the beta is any indacation, this one will be the most turgid and boring of the three. Seriously, if the next generation is now, why can't they put more than one f***ing character in it for multiplayer? I'm not a fanboy, I'm just saying.OPbarferWoW! To say that Halo and Halo 2 sucked definitely puts you in the minority. Granted, Halo 2's Campaign was lacking, but obviously the Multiplayer has more than made up for that. Also take into consideration that Bungie has outright admitted that Halo 2 sucked and that they will make sure the series finishes strong with Halo 3 is a pretty good sign for fans of the franchise. As far as your contention of there only being one playable character for the Beta as being a problem, dude, it is a Beta, a demo! Not a full game. Once Halo 3 launches on September 25th ,2007 I think all of uswill be pleasently suprised. YOu know that you will be able to be Spartens and Elites in multiplayer, but there were rumours that Bungie was going to introduce the Brutes into the online frag-festivities as well. We will see of course!

i think he may be low. i think the halo3 release was moved to sept to let halo sell as many consoles as it could at full price before a november price cut to dominate the christmas shopping season. i think the 360 instal base will be well over 20 million at the end of the year, infact i expect the 360 to sell out. and console shipped will be a console sold by the end of the year.[QUOTE="killaj2786"][QUOTE="Mandingo101"][QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]between halo 3 release and end of year? bout 4-6mrdo
